Bymead House is an excellent care home. My mother-in-law lived there for three contented years. The staff went out of their way to accommodate her many quirks and foibles and they could not have been more attentive during her final illness. The house itself is bright and airy, the staff always cheerful and welcoming, and there are many enriching activities on offer for those who choose to participate. Recommended.

My dad moved to this home a month ago. It felt like a homely environment from the moment I visited and I haven't been disappointed. Staff have welcomed dad into the Bymead family with open arms. They take time to care for his needs but also to find time to talk to him. Care staff, activity organiser, domestics, cooks, nurses and management are all fantastic and extremely friendly. Visitors are always made to feel welcome and any queries are always answered promptly.
The food is varied and always beautifully presented. Dad says it is very tasty. Residents can eat wherever they feel comfortable.
There are a good range of activities going on. Dad has yet to make full use of these but I'm sure he'll get involved over time. There are places to sit for a change of scenery. We even say a deer in the garden the other day.
If you're looking for a place for a loved one I would definitely recommend Bymead House.

I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Bymead House!

Staff too busy to help my brother with his food, call bells frequently not working, or turned off, these important issues have been reported several times, but 2 months later, this is still happening. The rooms are very small.

As a frequent visitor I was able to observe the care provided at different times of the day/week. Always found all staff - including management - to be attentive and willing to offer assistance or information. On the rare occassions Sylvia was not happy or in pain, without fail, she was looked after, and made comfortable.

Overall, for anyone able to afford the fees, I would reccomend Bymead for its high standards and gentle compassionate care.

I did not have the opportunity to inspect this nursing home before my hurried arrival from hospital. However, I was immediately aware of a true caring atmosphere, mixed with the necessary professional medical and management attention to my needs, and other provision for the individual demands of much older patients as well. Each one of us residents comes here with a personal predicament, that of needing to live here, and receive support designed to suit our needs individually. I can see that this aim is strongly worked towards by all the staff. I have also become aware now of various protocols that guide to whole happy environment of this place; making it a joy to live here.

I moved here from my local hospice for end if life care on 2nd July 2025. The staff here are wonderful and I am being looked after really well. The care is excellent and I am treated with dignity and respect. The home is spotless and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. I was worried about moving here but I have no need to worry as all of my care needs are met by a wonderful caring team.

Bymead House is an exceptional care facility. The atmosphere when you walk in is so inviting and friendly.

The living areas are so light and airy and the rooms big enough to personalise. The staff are extremely helpful caring and considerate of every residents needs. Every single member of the team no matter what their role are respectful and they all interact so well. They are all so friendly. The activities are stimulating and inclusive and the themed days have so much thought and effort and everyone participates. The food is fabulous and if we are lucky enough to time our visits for afternoon tea there is always a selection of yummy cakes. Bymead is a well structured organisation fostering a feeling of warmth, respect and fun. We are so happy that our mother lives in such an amazing place - thank you

Mum was living at Bymead for just under 3 years. She passed away in February 2025.

Bymead was the next best thing to being in her own home. Mum lost her sight some time ago, which was very sad, but at Bymead there was always someone on hand to help or explain what was happening. The love and care Mum was given by all the staff at Bymead was truly outstanding.

Treating elderly people with dignity and as equals is so important. 10 out of 10 for that. Also, the activities, especially throughout covid, were fantastic. An excellent, well-run nursing home from owner, management, nursing, carers etc. Well done everyone!

We placed our relative in Bymead during the first lockdown. We could not, therefore personally inspect the facilities, but relied on the excellent local reputation and the recommendation of a trusted friend, whose mother has been a long-term resident. What luck! What is particularly noticeable are the little things which make life more enjoyable, how the care staff take care to bend down to the level of the residents (if seated) and converse face to face, is just one example. The staff ensure that everybody can be included in whatever activities are going on, even if bed-bound. There is always a friendly welcome from the staff when we visit and our queries are answered promptly and fully. Placing a loved one in a home is probably the hardest thing, but Bymead House, has relieved any worries we initially had and continues to provide first-class care for our relative. It has been an absolute God-send. Cannot praise it highly enough and recommend, without reservation.

Review from Jessica H (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 6 October 2020 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Bymead House has a strong family atmosphere and I could not imagine how my grandma could be better looked after. The staff quickly got to know my grandma and her close relatives, and are always friendly and helpful. Throughout the pandemic they have done everything they can to ensure we are still able to communicate with her and that she is active. They even arranged a fabulous 100th birthday party for her with the whole family and friends using video conference. Every time I speak to Grandma she is keen to express that she is "very happy" at Bymead, that "everyone here is very nice" and "they take good care of me". Her room is small but sunny and she has everything she needs. It was a big decision for Grandma to move into a home, but we are certain that it was the best decision for her. It gives the family all great comfort, especially during the recent challenges with the pandemic. If you are looking for a home for someone you love, I cannot recommend Bymead highly enough.

A wonderful, clean and welcoming care home. Residents are well looked after and respected by all staff. Staff are very friendly to families and have resident's well-being first and foremost. There are fun activities for residents to join in and occasional trips out. Could not ask for a better home to place my mother in to.

My mother has been at Bymead for 16-months, and have found the home to be well run with caring staff, and it is nice to know that my mum is being well looked after. She enjoys the many activities that the home have especially, Bingo. Being a vegetarian and a very fussy one, the staff will always make sure she has something nice to eat. Nurses and carers are all very friendly as are all the staff. I would have no hesitation in recommending the home to anyone that needed nursing care.

The staff at the home are always very approachable and have a very caring approach towards my mother. They have been working especially hard during the coronavirus to keep my mother and the other resident's spirits up during this very difficult time. Mum has told us how much she has appreciated the care she has received.

Overall Experience
Mum has been living in Bymead for over 2 years now. I warmed to Bymead right from the start. Both the setting and location are great but more importantly I could immediately see the staff engaging positively with the residents in a manner both caring and professional. This has been a key feature throughout the past 2 years and is so important. Lots of activities are arranged - from the summer fete to firework nights - to encourage residents to mix and just brighten their days. When mum has had particular periods of ill health they have been so quick to respond and have been so supportive both to her and to me.

Of course these past few months have been particularly trying but the management and staff of Bymead responded so well to the challenge - making the physical and mental wellbeing or residents their clear number one priority. I am so grateful for that. I am so glad that in those very many weeks and months when I was not able to visit that she was safe in the care of Bymead.

My mother has been a resident in Bymead for 4 years. The care she has received has been exceptional with wonderful, caring, knowledgeable staff who have always been kind and supportive of both her and all her family. The management is excellent and always keep us informed of developments and regularly visit the residents and clearly provide very good support and training for the staff. The home is very attractive and clean with good bedrooms and excellent large sitting and dining areas. Meals are excellent - varied, freshly prepared with a lot of choices and the kitchen staff are very accomodating of special needs and requests. The views over the large well-tended gardens are a huge bonus and provide enormous pleasure for everyone. We cannot praise Bymead highly enough and are always extremely grateful our mother is being looked after there.
