Magdalen House is a truly exceptional care home; the staff are some of the kindest and most dedicated people you could ever hope to meet. They cared for my friend with compassion and dignity throughout his stay. Nothing ever seemed too much trouble, the food was well balanced and of excellent quality, and a full activities schedule to keep everyone entertained. When you walk into Magdalen, it's like a hotel; it is always spotlessly clean, and a relaxed family feel to it. I was very lucky to have found this home and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who was considering moving into full time residential care.

Mum was well cared for. She particularly enjoyed the days out in the minibus. All staff were approachable, professional and caring. Living away from Gloucester, it was important to me that there was good communication between the staff and me.

I am very happy with the care that my Dad receives at Magdalen House. The staff are supportive, kind and caring. From day one, they have treated him with respect and made him feel welcome. They encourage him to participate in the organised activities, and capture his involvement by taking photographs. I am so pleased that he is able to enjoy himself at the care home. I visit regularly, so I see first hand how the staff interact with him and the other residents. They are friendly, patient and thoughtful. Magdalen House is very modern and feels like you are in a hotel! The communal areas as well as the bedrooms, are beautifully decorated and kept clean and tidy. Many family members have visited Dad in the care home, and they always comment on how lovely the decor is. I feel very fortunate to have found this wonderful care home for him, where he is safe and receiving great care.

Magdalen House Residential Home is a lovely residential home with very caring staff. My parents had a double room and were very well cared for. Sadly Magdalen House decided to de-register as a nursing home and my parents had to leave. However we will always be grateful for the eight weeks or so, that my parents were able to enjoy going out on trips and being well cared for. The nurse that cared for my father was second to none and brought him back to health long enough to settle my mother into her new nursing home (St Faiths) which is exceptional.

My Mum moved into Magdalen House in January this year. She has received the most excellent care. The staff are kind, patient and very respectful. There is an activity every day if the residents wish to join in. My mum is treated like a person in her own right, and not just a resident. I was so worried about my Mum going into a care home but she is so happy there and myself and my family are so happy we found an amazing home for my 96-year-old Mum, to live the rest of her life, with so much happiness and treated with dignity.

I recently had a call from Magdalen House regarding my mum; she has Dementia and had a fall and the ambulance had been called. Thankfully all was well.
I know that the home and staff have provided great service/care to my mum every day (for the last 10 years), but had never experienced the hands-on effect of this care. On this occasion, Mum had an incident, was unwell and was on the floor in her room; she is immobile and has to be hoisted everywhere - on this occasion, it was back into bed. The care, dignity, language, prompting and treatment the staff gave and showed Mum were amazing. I always say that Magdalen House is Mum's home and the staff are her 'family' - but on this occasion, I saw at first sight what this means to Mum (and me) - and - for that I am eternally grateful.

I would recommend Magdalen House as an excellent place for someone you care about who needs support to live - it has excellent staff and a wonderful atmosphere and relatives are made welcome whenever they visit.

The care my husband had at Magdalene was very good. He was welcomed and soon settled and became one of the 'Magdalene' family. He was shown kindness, dedication and respect at all times.
The care was excellent with attention to his own likes and dislikes.
As a family, we were treated with respect and compassion always ensuring we were comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble. I was welcomed to have meals with my husband and encouraged to join in activities.
All the staff were wonderful and deserved praise for their dedication.

Thanks so much to you all.

As a senior nurse visiting a care facility, I automatically cast an eye around. When my father needed extra care, I could not be happier with Magdalen House. I was so impressed with the care and service I and my family received. The care team are friendly and helpful, going above and beyond, ensuring all my father's care needs are met. The staff's positive attitude and willingness to go the extra mile for not just my dad but other clients and extended family. The staff act as a family and demonstrate excellent, professional, knowledgable, confident care. The whole property is clean and maintained to a high standard. I highly recommend.

It's hard to let your loved one go into care. We met when we were 16 years old, 72 years together. Magdalen House was a gift, astounding. The staff helped us settle my husband. He settled quickly due to the care delivered. They all became part of the extended family, inviting me to events and activities put on by the staff. Lovely food, which I was invited to attend meal times. All staff are approachable, friendly and professional. I highly recommend this facility, the cleanliness, culinary excellence, skill and most importantly care and understanding with great communication.

My husband came to need more care than we were able to provide at home, I found it very difficult to hand him over to someone else to do the caring. He and I would both have preferred for him to have stayed at home, but we both came to realise this wasn't possible but discovered that Magdalen House was the perfect answer to our needs. My husband was made very welcome as a resident and I was always welcome as a visitor - any time of day. The staff were wonderful, the care first-class, food excellent, well prepared in Magdalen's own kitchen and activities varied and pleasing. My husband soon became friends with the staff and other residents.
Sadly he quietly passed away with his wonderful carers by his side, a great comfort knowing he was not alone - we were a few minutes late arriving to see him - my lasting memory is how peaceful he looked and his carers were still with him when we arrived.

I will always be grateful for the love and the care shown to my husband during his time at Magdalen House.

Following a bad fall and a stay in hospital my Mum went to Magdalen House for respite care. From the very start everyone has been kind and supportive to both Mum and myself and she has now become a permanent resident.
Mum’s ensuite room is beautifully furnished and the whole home is spotlessly clean, warm and welcoming. There is a very friendly atmosphere with lots of fun and laughter. Every single member of the team is attentive and considerate and there is always someone on hand if Mum ever needs a little extra comfort and reassurance. They have taken time to get to know Mum’s preferences and she is encouraged to participate in the many and varied activities.

As a visitor I am always made to feel at home and any concerns are dealt with sympathetically. Now that Mum can no longer care for herself, I can relax in the knowledge that she is safe and being looked after with kindness and compassion. In Mum’s own words, “I really couldn’t be in a better place”.

My father came here originally for respite care but it soon became obvious he needed full-time care and to go home really was not a safe option for him. The home helped and supported me as they agreed it would be a safeguarding issue if he was to go home and finally it has been agreed for him to stay permanently. The care and support my father has received has been excellent. He is so happy here as there are always activities they get him involved in along with trips out. They have been very quick to respond to queries and when unwell they have been very prompt in getting medical help. This has been such a relief to the family that he is being well taken care of.

My mother has been a resident at Magdalen House for over 10 years and during this period she has received kindness and support from all the staff who always do their very best to help and assist her. The home is well run and always welcoming which is particularly apparent following the recent extension renovations and changes to the decor. I have no reservations whatsoever in recommending Magdalen House as a safe, happy and enjoyable place to live where the standard of care is first class and the atmosphere is always friendly and convivial.

My dear mother has been at Magdalen House for respite care for a number of weeks over the last few months. I can’t praise the staff enough, they have simply been outstanding and it shows in my mother's smile and comments about both the people and the place. I have complete peace of mind whenever my mother stays at Magdalen House and when the time comes when I can no longer look after her at home I hope she will become a permanent resident.

Excellent care home. Very professional and caring staff at all levels. Staff genuinely care for residents' needs and work hard get to know residents' likes and dislikes. One-to-one activities and group activities are good. Lovely welcoming atmosphere and the staff are chatty and smiley. Good quality and choice of food. Medical/nursing care is excellent. Decor and hygiene are good. Communication/updates with family are excellent. The only negative is could do with a designated visitor lounge/area inside as the room is a bit small.

I would like to thank all the staff at Magdalen House that looked after my mum over the past few months. Mum joined Magdalen House in March, settled down well, made friends and joined in all the activities, even taken a trip out on the bus when COVID restrictions were lifted. The staff were exemplary in their treatment of my mum with care and dignity being their priority, even at the time of Mum's passing from a short illness in August. I highly recommend Magdalen House for the care of a loved one.
