My mum was admitted to the care home last November, straight from the hospital, we as a family, were very worried about how she would cope, she loves it there and has settles in very well, the staff are fantastic and nothing is too much trouble everybody from the cleaners, chef, care staff, gardener
and management are lovely and very polite. Would highly recommend this care home.

My Godmother was a resident at Elliscombe House for 18 months before she passed away late last year. During that time, with the carful attention of both the management staff and the wonderfully kind care team, she was comfortable and contented in her new environment. Elliscombe House is a very tastefully
decorated home, akin to a 5* hotel, immaculately clean with excellent food and service. We often had lunch together in the dining room which was the highlight of our week.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Elliscombe House for taking such good care of not only my God-Mother, but of me as well. I was always made to feel welcome and felt that my concerns were heard, addressed, and actioned.

Reply from Hannah Rowe, Marketing at Elliscombe HouseThankyou for your lovely review of Elliscombe House. We are pleased to hear that you and your Godmother were happy with the home and the care she received, and that you enjoyed dining with her - we are always happy to welcome visitors at mealtimes! Please do stay in touch with the team, you would be most welcome at any time.

Following a difficult transfer out of hospital, Elliscombe House facilities and staff were wonderful. Management were extremely helpful and supportive throughout the whole difficult time. Relief, at such wonderful care and compassion demonstrated by all at Elliscombe House. Knowing my relative was being
so well cared for at a difficult time has been invaluable help for all the family.

Arriving at Elliscombe House in Jan 2022, our mother's needs were extensively reviewed and with dedication, care and support, the staff worked with mum and got her up every day, included her with activities, taking meals in the dinning room with the other residents and encouraging her to join in with
everything going on.
Although mum had to use a wheel chair the kindness shown to her taking a walk around the grounds or visits to the shops and garden centres was exceptional. The staff once, having overheard mum say that she had never been to a pantomime, arranged for her and some other residents to see one at Yeovil at Christmas time.
Everyone one there was very caring, from the house staff ensuring the rooms were spotless to the care staff who looked after her daily needs and to the management taking time from their busy days to eat lunch with her. Mum sadly passed away at Elliscombe November 2025 with the family by her side. We would highly recommend this outstanding Care Home.

My wife was admitted on September 1st 2025 for end of life care, she passed away on 1st October 2025. During her period of palliative care as a resident she was given exemplary care in a compassionate, dignified and caring manner by all members of staff involved. Both myself and our son and daughter
were looked after admirably during the period in question. I visited every day for many hours and during these visits I was accorded full hospitality of cooked meals, snacks and drinks of a very high standard both in quality and service. The Care Home itself is in a beautiful setting and my wife had a lovely room with outside views and opportunities to make it very homely with personal picture memories and items.
Reply from Hannah Rowe, Marketing at Elliscombe HouseThankyou very much for your review. It was an honour to care for your wife, and to support you and your children at this difficult time. We send condolences and best wishes to you and your family.

Elliscombe House was suggested by the hospital on discharge to a nursing home. Sadly, my Aunt, is bed-bound which has been a real concern. Since being at Elliscombe, whilst physically it has not been possible to improve her health conditions but, a very big but, she is being beautifully cared for by
amazingly kind and gentle caring staff and nursed by a team of excellent qualified nurses. She has maintained her sense of humour, discovered that food is good again and is comfortable, clean and happy.
Elliscombe House is a warm, friendly and happy environment. Questions and worries are handled sensitively and I always receive a kind and caring welcome when I visit. It is very well- kept and the rooms are relaxing with views of the lovely grounds and gardens.
My Aunt still feels in control of her needs and she has no fear of voicing this. The staff are always kind, patient and supportive to her.
Reply from Hannah Rowe, Marketing at Elliscombe HouseThankyou for your review. We are so pleased to hear that you are happy with the care your aunt is receiving at Elliscombe House. Our chef and his team pride themselves on providing delicious meals and we are glad that your aunt is enjoying them. Do visit us again soon. With very best wishes from the Elliscombe House team.

It is never easy to make the decision, to move a relative into residential care. Looking on-line everything looks lovely but... Ellescombe House is surrounded by countryside. It is peaceful & beautifully maintained inside & out. I met with the Manager after a tour of the house, she immediately made
me feel confident & hopeful, asking appropriate questions concerning my father to gain understanding of his care needs as well as gaining insight into his character & interests. She then took me to see a few of the vacant rooms, which are as lovely as the website showed, that she thought would suit dad. Everywhere has homely comfortably vibe & there is a large team of staff who I genuinely felt were both very caring & friendly both to the residents & one another. I think dad will be content here.

My Aunt arrived in Elliscombe in mid 2024. She was very malnourished and frail, and quite delusional. Under the care at Elliscombe she has really recovered well and is enjoying staying there. She now eats well, engages with other residents and staff and is pleased to host visitors there too. The
transformation of my Aunt into a happy person, on the ball again, has been lovely to see. I would thoroughly recommend Elliscombe. I have experienced other care homes that cost not much less, but that are nothing like as good. Really worth it.

My mother was a resident at Elliscombe House from February till October 2024, when she passed away after a long illness. The staff - both carers and nurses - were incredibly compassionate and caring towards her, particularly in her final difficult days and hours and their approach was always professional.
Care home staff are only human, and the work can be difficult, so occasionally things were not always perfect but overall the compassionate and humane approach that was present both towards my mother and myself during such a turbulent and difficult time was genuinely uplifting and I am extremely grateful to everyone.
The care home itself is immaculate and is clean, attractive and feels akin to a hotel - excellent food and service and as I say - kind, caring and professional staff. I would not hesitate to recommend Elliscombe to anybody considering it - especially those who may be looking towards end-of-life care.

Excellent service when needed. Courtesy and kindness paramount. Carers are most willing but often overworked. Waiting for help (call button) is usually immediate. Return of washed clothes sometimes disappointing, several times I have to keep asking for clothes, other times quickly returned, nicely ironed.
Adventurous chef, lots of choice of food and very obliging regarding times of eating, will always provide food if needed other than normal times and choice of rooms to eat in.

After having a hernia repaired for the second time, I felt it prudent to look after myself for the first week after the operation. There was not many options for convalescence after surgery in and around where I live, but Elliscombe House did offer this service and I was very pleased that I chose to
stay there. There is no way being on my own at home that I would have got myself three good meals a day as I was quite drugged-up and very sore. I am sure being well nourished helped the recovery and it was also nice knowing there was medical help available should be it needed. The first three days, I had meals in my room and then as I improved I went down to the dining area. The quality and choice of the food was excellent and, together with the attentiveness and care of the staff, made my stay very enjoyable. I recommend Elliscombe House wholeheartedly.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.869)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.869) out of 10 for Elliscombe House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.894 for Elliscombe House is calculated as follows: ( (202 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 226 Ratings = 4.894
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Elliscombe House is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

On any given day, I can be found creating dishes such as roasted venison loin, truffle butternut puree, celeriac fondants with a chocolate jus, or local pheasant breast, leg bon bon, pickled red cabbage & caramelised apple with a truffle dressing. I truly believe the most delicious cuisine is made simply with the best, fresh, high quality ingredients.
