My Mum has been a resident at Ashgrove for the last eighteen months and the care she receives is amazing. The nurses and carers are so kind, caring and patient and we know Mum is safe and very well looked after. The activities team do a fantastic job as well, organising a variety of daily activities
and trips out which Mum really enjoys. When visiting we are made to feel so welcome and nothing is too much trouble. As a family we feel so fortunate to have chosen Ashgrove for Mum's care.

My mum went into ashgrove with end of life care and she was treated like a queen. I mean I could not fault the staff as they went above and beyond for her. Even before my mum passed she would tell me she felt like she was in a luxury hotel. So i know she was loving it as well. And the staff made us
relatives feel very welcome along with tea and coffee when we visited.

It has been a privilege to meet the staff and see all the hard work that is involved in caring for the residents. They have been attentive, kind, compassionate and patient. They are without doubt a credit to the care home. They work hard yet remain kind and empathetic and genuinely care fro their residents,
as if their own. I will & am missing visiting my friends mum who sadly passed away and I miss not seeing the lovely staff as well. I am grateful for the times I had with all and sad for our loss.

My mum has been a resident at Ashgrove House since May 2023. We couldn't ask for a better care home. I feel my mum is safe, cared for and looked after. The food is excellent and there is entertainment every day and lots of trips. There are lots of staff and they are all caring and very efficient. A
happy wonderful place.

My mum had a serious stroke in May and went to Ashgrove House after a month in the hospital and palliative care. We were immediately struck by the welcoming atmosphere and the approachability of the staff. My mum had been living at home with support and never thought she would need a nursing home, however,
the kindness and attention to all her needs helped her make the adjustment and relax into her new life. The last months of her life were peaceful and comfortable.

Ashgrove House is the perfect place for Mum since she moved in, in July. We can only say that Mum has been thriving since moving in. There is a real hub of activity every day with quiet areas to go to if needed. The staff are really caring and know Mum and her little ways. Mum was always a very sociable
person and loves talking but was struggling to take care of herself, her world was gradually becoming smaller and now it has opened up again. We have used the van to bring Mum home on Christmas Day. She loves the trips out. Food is plenty! Ashgrove House is open to suggestions. They make us feel very welcome. Thank you so much!

My mother has been at Ashgrove House for 20 months and during that time she has been treated with care and respect. Over Christmas, I was able to have meals with Mum and on Christmas Day Father Christmas arrived with presents for all the residents. The love and care taken are exceptional and the entertainment
team is innovative, providing a wide range of experiences for residents. Having visited a number of nursing homes in the area I am so pleased that we chose Ashgrove.

My lovely sister went into Ashgrove to have palliative care on 14th December 2022. The care that was given and the compassion shown to her and our family was above and beyond. Just taking the time to go into her room for a chat meant a lot to her, sadly she passed away on the 22nd December 2022 just
over a week in their care, and I saw how wonderful they were. Be so proud of yourselves, it will never be forgotten. Love to you all from her sister and family.

Overall I am very satisfied with Ashgrove. Occasionally they have forgotten to communicate information to me - Mum had covid but I did not know (Nov 2020). They do not send regular updates about whether the home is open or closed due to covid or what the 'new rules' are.

A welcoming and reassuring move under difficult circumstances whilst in lockdown due to covid-19. At all times I was reassured despite not being able to visit. I am made to feel that the care of my father is their primary concern. I am kept informed and able to speak to them any time I wish to. My father's
care is first class and carried out very caringly and with the utmost dignity. 'This is his home' is a wonderful mantra - thank you.

My brother has been a resident for over 10 years. The care has been first-rate for all of those years. Personal care from all the staff has been like home from home. Friendships, outings, social life is encouraged. Food, all meals are of a very high standard. If left in a position on our own, my husband
and I would very happily settle at Ashgrove.

My father suffered from dementia and was unable to walk.
He had a happy last year due almost entirely to the care and attention of the wonderful staff.
Even though I lived away from Purton I knew he was safe and looked after.
When you arrive do not be put off by the slightly tired look of the place
or you will be making the mistake of judging a book by its cover.
This home is fantastic.

Our mum was admitted for end of life care and from day one the care and support mum and we as a family received was wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff and mum said: "they can't do enough for me". The cooks continued to offer foods to tempt mum and also ensured the family were
offered gorgeous food and drinks whilst we were with mum.

My aunt has moved from London to live nearer to me in Gloucestershire. I have been very happy with the way in which she has settled and it has been just over a year and I can see a real difference in her overall health and happiness, in fact, she has told me the staff are very good and she is happy.
I am able to visit my aunt regularly and the staff and standard of care are always very good. Thank you for helping me to feel that my aunt is in a loving and caring place.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.552)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.552) out of 10 for Ashgrove House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.852 for Ashgrove House is calculated as follows: ( (70 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 81 Ratings = 4.852
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashgrove House is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
