I could think of nowhere better. The care and love shown by the staff to my mother is outstanding in all respects and she feels safe, secure and at home.
All the family is made welcome. This is a team which doesn't just go the extra mile. They would run a marathon to make my mother's life good.

My father has been a patient in Ashgrove for two years.
He has full mental capacity and mobilises with a walker.
He has a large bedroom and can negotiate the furniture easily.
The lounge area is comfortable and bright.
There is a garden for warmer days.
The home has a very friendly, homely atmosphere,
a credit to all the staff who work there.
Carers and nurses are compassionate, understanding and efficient.
All the staff are approachable and reactive to any personal concerns and health issues.
The food is excellent, good quality with choices at meal times.
Activities vary daily and include visiting entertainment. Trips out include the theatre, garden centres, seaside visits and pub lunches.
Dad is extremely happy at Ashgrove.
It's home from home.

My husband has been a resident at Ashgrove House for nearly 3 years.
In all that time he has been so well cared for that despite being very vulnerable he has thrived.
The family atmosphere is always welcoming and friendly partly because the staff have also been there a long time and feel very positive
about the quality of care they give.
They are justly proud of their home.

Although the room is fairly spartan, it is what my former client wanted. (I am a retired solicitor).
She has been very well looked after. She has her bad days and is always treated very kindly and patiently if they happen.
She appreciates their kindness.

My short stay at Ashgrove House was for respite care, whilst my wife took a well earned holiday (a cruise). I was treated with great respect by all staff, and they made every effort to help me. I do suffer with a number of illnesses, sadly but I was treated so well that I really didn't notice them.
The moment I arrived I was shown to a most pleasant room and served an enjoyable lunch. The lunch was to be the first of many enjoyable meals, with such a wide choice that I could not have done better in a top class hotel. All the staff whatever their job were always helpful, always cheerful, always interested in you and how they could be of help to you. From day one I was only a bell-push away from any assistance I needed. Well done and grateful thanks to them all.

All the staff go the extra mile to not only care for residents but understand how they and their relatives are feeling. After my Mum passed away, the support given has been amazing, even at busy times someone will find time to speak.

After a hospital admission, we needed somewhere for my father-in-law to recover enough to cope at home. We didn't need to look far as Ashgrove House is a fantastic home. Staff are brilliant and care exceptional and with the bonus of physio provided Dad should be home again soon! I highly recommend this
home, it's the only home I would place any of my family in by choice.

We moved my beloved Mum from an awful care home to Ashgrove House in October 2013. It was such a relief to have her placed in a safe, happy, loving and caring environment. All the staff are amazing with Mum and we are made to feel welcome when we visit. Other care homes should take a look at how Ashgrove
House operate as they could learn a lot. I always recommend Ashgrove House if I am asked. Keep up the good work girls and guys.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.552)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.552) out of 10 for Ashgrove House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.852 for Ashgrove House is calculated as follows: ( (70 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 81 Ratings = 4.852
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashgrove House is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
