My father has been a resident at this nursing home for over a year now. He has complex needs, including personal care needs and vascular dementia. The staff at Selly Wood House are always bright and positive in attitude towards my dad and others. They seem genuinely friendly and pleased to do their jobs, and I am full of admiration for the work they do. My dad is safe and cared for with smiles and consideration, which is hard to put a price on. Recruitment and HR have done well at this place of care work.

We were very upset at the thought of our dad being moved into a nursing home from a stay in hospital when it became apparent dad could not return to his bungalow due to ill health, but Selly Wood staff have been absolutely brilliant, we could not thank them enough.

Thank you so much for your kind words. We understand how difficult and emotional the transition from hospital to a nursing home can be, and were truly glad we were able to support both your dad and your family during this time.

The care m Mom had received in the few weeks she had been there had been excellent. All of the staff are friendly polite and professional They go the extra mile to make her welcome and comfortable. I am always kept informed of any developments. She loves her room, the food , the activities and the attention the staff pay to making her feel like this is a real home for her now. After 4 months in hospital and being virtually housebound for 2 years previously, she now seems much happier in herself. Last week was the first time I'd seen her laugh properly in a long time. Thank you all for everything you do. It makes such a difference. I now have complete peace of mind knowing that she is safe and well cared for. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sellywood House to others who are looking for a nursing home for a relative or friend.

My Mom, never wanted to go into care but it had been taken out of hers or ours in her needs. We were given a list of homes to see. I went to see Selly Wood Home on the fact it was handy for her family to visit. But was impressed by their friendly approach.
She has a room with lovely views of the trees and birds visit her window feeder. She can join the many activities if she wants too. They will do their best to find something to keep her interested.

She has been in a few months so far I have nothing to be concerned about!

My Mother has a resident here for over 2 years. She is nearly 101. I am so grateful that she is here. All the staff are outstanding, from the lovely welcoming admin, nurses, carers, hotel staff, activities lady, kitchen staff, maintenance etc. Mum's skin integrity is brilliant, considering she is so thin and frail. They treat the residents with such dignity and respect. We also feel so welcome and I feel it is a good sign that most of the staff have been here for many years. So even when Mum has a difficult day on our visit, it is made so much easier by the staff caring about us too. Any health problems are sorted out instantly. The food is great. There is activities for those residents able to join in.

I would happily be a resident here if it became necessary! We can't recommend the care here highly enough.Thank you to all the staff.

My Mother in law has been a resident at Sellywood House since July 2023. We couldn't be happier with the care here.

We can honestly say the care is excellent. The staff are honestly so caring , helpful, from management, nursing team, to the domestics. My Mother in laws skin remains in wonderful condition, considering how frail and thin she is, we put that down to the wonderful care of the staff. Hygiene is definitely a key factor making sure the the residents catch no infections, we as a family feel content and relaxed knowing she is being cared for respectfully. The activities for residents that can join in are wonderful too. It is a pleasure to visit and we feel after over 2 years that they are like good friends and family. The attention to her diet and health are 100%. This is definitely the right home for her, and would like to thank everyone who cares for her.

My mother-in-law was moved into this wonderful nursing home in August 2023. She was expected to pass within a few weeks. However, 8 months later she has improved significantly due to the care and attention given by each member of this community. Everyone smiles, takes their time to speak and looks after my mother-in-law. She is fed, her whole welfare is monitored and an update is shared with her family.

Mom moved into Selly Wood House on 15th January 2024. She has been looked after with care, nursed, and bathed with complete professionalism.
When we visit we are welcomed with warmth and respect, our mom has been given 110% of attention and supervision.

Every member of staff from the kitchen, cleaning, caring, and nursing have given Mom the very best of their skill. The management should be proud of all these people because we are.

My cousin is a very demanding resident and complains a lot, but all the experience I have had with staff has been positive. I feel she is being well looked after. She complains mainly about night staff, but as I say she is very demanding so I really don't know.

My mum moved to Selly Wood House in February 2021 after a stroke and with advanced dementia. At the time, she was transferred from the hospital on a palliative care pathway, with only days - weeks to live. Through the hard work, dedication and care of the staff, my mum pulled through and is still going strong 2.5 years later.

My experience has been that the staff are incredibly caring, professional, and skilled at what they do, and my mum really responded positively to their care. She is nursed in bed and has to be fed, and it takes a great deal of patience to get her to eat and drink, as I can personally testify, but the staff are really patient and really good at coaxing her. They are always friendly and happy to give me an update on my mum, and they speak very affectionately about her. My mum is always clean and looks well cared for, and her room is always tidy and well-cleaned. As a family, we have been really pleased with the care my mum has received at Selly Wood House.

A warm and wonderful place, home from home. The standard of care is excellent by all the members of a fantastic team. The management lead and blend the team to perfection in every way. Nothing is too much trouble for each and every one of them. My family member has all her needs met, above and beyond. I thank them all from the bottom of my heart; they make her smile every day. Selly Wood House Nursing Home has slowly transformed since 2021 when it was taken over by a new company.

I find the whole atmosphere calm, warm and professional. My mom has been at the home for 5 years, so I have seen some really great changes. My mum always looks well cared for and comfortable and her room is always clean, neat and tidy. Staff are friendly and welcoming, and I find a general 'open door' policy from the manager.

My mother spent the last months of her life in Selly Wood House. She was treated with dignity and respect by the staff, who actually cared about the person in their care. As a family, we highly recommend this nursing home. The staff kept in touch through all stages of her care, and we never felt it was too much trouble for them. A big thank you goes to everyone there for making a very sad time more bearable, knowing that she was in good hands.

I visited Selly Wood House Nursing Home in a professional capacity as a Paramedic. I must comment on several impressive aspects of what I viewed of this care facility. We were greeted by the lovely nursing team as well as an associate nursing practitioner.
The nursing practitioner was extremely professional, knowledgeable, caring and compassionate. I was extremely impressed by his manor and professionalism as well as all the other staff.
All the residents seemed happy and content and received 5-star treatment.
The facilities around the home were modern and clean, and the home had a lovely homely feel to it. Although it is mostly always in sad circumstances, I look forward to future visits here.

Keep up the great work, guys.

Hello, I’m Hina, the Deputy Manager at Selly Wood House with over 10 years of nursing experience. Hi, I’m Mal. I’m the Home Administrator at Sellywood House. I’ve worked in care for a couple of years and really enjoy getting to know our residents and helping to organise activities they can enjoy.

You’ll usually find me in the office, but please feel free to pop in for a chat or if there’s anything I can help with.

Lisa
Lisa Job Title:Activities CoordinatorJoined: 1984

My name is Lisa, and I started at Sellywood in June 1984 as a part-time worker. I never imagined back then that it would become such a big part of my life. Over the years, I’ve worked in all departments, but my heart has always been in care, where I spent 30 years supporting residents.

One of the things I’ve loved most is working with so many wonderful people and helping to train others as they grow into their roles. It’s been a real privilege to be part of their journeys.

Now, I work in wellbeing and activities, and I truly love what I do. I enjoy bringing a bit of joy into each day, whether that’s through activities, a chat, or simply being there for someone. Building relationships with residents and their families means so much to me, and seeing a smile on someone’s face really does make my day.

Sellywood has been more than just a workplace to me—it’s been like a second home.
