My uncle moved into Oaklands Care Home about 6 months ago and his health and wellbeing has dramatically improved. The care he receives is excellent. The staff are always kind, caring and treat him with dignity and respect. The food is very good and since being there he has gained weight and eating much better, which has been lovely to see. He enjoys the daily activities.

After letting our grandad reside in here for less than a week, he has deteriorated very quickly he can hardly stand which is frustrating as when he left hospital he could walk.

The staff are friendly and say hello when walking past.

My grandad stated most nights he's asked for a drink having an infection he required to flush it out to be told to wait for the next shift which was 1.5 hours.

He was then moved to a bucket seat which seemed to be a restraint rather than something to help him. He isn't a risk of falling or standing alone!

This home really isn't inclusive the facilities that happen during the days don't support the bedbound patients.

My grandad was told he couldn't get out of bed one because of pressure sores (which get worse when lying in the same position) and two because they don't have enough chairs.

Friendly show around doesn't show how the home is run. Have a look around on the weekend too.

The room had what looked like blood on the ceiling also.

We are sorry you feel this way about your grandad’s care and appreciate your feedback. Hospital transfer documentation stated he required a stand-turner and assistance from two carers, with shortness of breath, dizziness, and fatigue. There was no record of independent mobility. Came back from travelling to see my Grandad looking clean, well dressed and with a massive smile on his face. He was with his other residents singing karaoke and having a great time. The staff and student nurses were singing along and putting a smile on their faces.

Dad came to the home unexpectedly on Dec 31st and from the moment he arrived he was made to feel like he'd been there forever. The attitude of everyone we met that works there was more like they were looking after their own family members, so caring. Nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately dad passed a few days ago so his time there was only short, but we know he enjoyed every minute - especially the banter with some of the ladies. Thank you to everyone there, you helped his last few weeks to be as comfortable as possible.

Oaklands staff have been the most wonderful, caring, compassionate, dedicated, going above and beyond their duty, making life there happy family-oriented and personal. My mom's last 4 years have been wonderful with them, and as a family, knowing that mom was well looked after and cared for gave us peace of mind. We would definitely recommend.

I have found Oaklands really good for my brother, who was so poorly when he went into Oaklands, he couldn't get out of bed, and now they get him out of bed so he can join in with things and all activities. I would highly recommend Oaklands, and the staff are really good and the management.

Mum has recently moved to Oaklands. The transition from home has gone so well, thanks to the wonderful staff and excellent care offered. The team are so kind and attentive, this has undoubtedly helped mum settle much more quickly than we could ever have hoped for. Management are supportive, and always ready to listen.

It's wonderful to see Mum looking so well and happy and it's reassuring for family to know she's safe and looked after so well.

My mom was a resident for the last 5 months of her life. Mom had dementia and was very poorly when she moved to Oaklands, the staff were amazing and made her comfortable, safe and well cared for. With encouragement from the staff, Mom spent her days in the lounge and loved it.

As a family, we cannot thank Oaklands staff enough for the peace of mind you gave to us. I am sure we had Mom for longer due to the care she was given.

Mom was at Oaklands for end-of-life care. From the outset, she was treated with love, dignity and respect. Without exception, the staff at Oaklands are wonderful people. Nothing was ever too much trouble. The manager and her team of nurses and carers are experienced, kind and caring, and attended constantly to her changing needs. The managers and admin staff were supportive, kind and always willing to help.
The general feeling at the home was warm and inviting, with a well-led and professional approach.

Our family would like to offer our heartfelt thanks for enabling Mom to pass peacefully, comfortably with dignity.

I bring my friend to visit her partner weekly. It has such a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Every member of staff shows such kindness and compassion to the residents - be it serving drinks, having a friendly, smiley chat, helping to move him to sit comfortably with us - even outside. The manager does an amazing job maintaining such high standards.

Thank you so very much, we know he is in such good hands. He has fun joining activities and looks so well due to your diligent care.

A huge thank you to the attentive and patient care staff who looked after my brother temporarily at Oaklands from March to November 2023 after a fall hospitalised him in February. You took time to understand his MS, adapted your care with compassion and patience and I know he’s not always easy to look after! He put on weight and became healthier thanks to your care. He finally seemed a little happier and I treasure some happy moments there with him. Staff were always careful to inform me of any news or incident. He is now in an extra care living community. Thank you so much to all in the Oaklands team. I am most grateful for your work. I commend Oaklands as a compassionate, clean and caring home.

I must say a big thank you to all the staff at Oaklands Care Home.
My dad was only there for 2 weeks, transferred from hospital for end of life care, and sadly passed away on the 15th of September 2023.
Although he was only there for a short while, the care he received in that time was excellent, and due to the circumstances, we were able to visit him any time which was great.

It was the calmest we had seen my dad in months. He seemed happy there, which was a relief to us all. Thanks again.

So grateful for the care and attention given to my mum. She was only with them for a short period as she was end-of-life care, but in that time, they showed a great deal of compassion with high standards. I hope to remain a friend of the home and join them for activities from time to time. I felt part of a big family whenever I visited. Kindness and respect. Thank you.

I have gained all my mandatory training plus extra specialist training such as Mental Capacity Act, DoLS, Medication, and Diploma in Dementia.

I completed the (NVF) QCF Level 5 Diploma in Health & Social Care for Managers in 2015.

I have successfully run Richmond Court Residential home (Our sister's home) in Dudley, which is a Dementia Care Home. As of October 2022, Jacqueline Spittle (Location Manager) was invited to be part of a Panel of “expert care home managers” for NHS, Black Country Integrated Care Board. Our role is to represent the care homes in the Dudley Area to help bridge the gap between the NHS and Care Homes.
