The staff and management are friendly and approachable. The home is a busy but welcoming place.
My Great Aunt was in the home for 3 years and enjoyed her time there doing activities and being part of the Barty family.
She was treated with respect and dignity at all times and I was kept informed of any changes in her eating/health etc.
My Great Aunt and family were always treated with love and compassion during her stay and especially in her last few days.

I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a caring home.

Dont judge a book by its cover, the home is outdated, but it's not what it looks like its the care given to their residents.
I can honestly say this home is excellent.
All the staff are friendly, what they deliver is genuine care, compassion and dignity.

There is daily interaction, so they dont just have to sit in the chair all day doing nothing. Home cooked food on a daily basis and the home smells fresh unlike others. My mom only got to stay here for a short time before she passed but said she was happy here.

Our mother was only in Bartholamew Lodge for a short time.
She was treated with dignity, compassion and kindness from the moment she arrived until she passed away.
The staff showed immense patience and showed a genuine interest in her.
When she passed the staff showed dignity and respect and treated her with the kindness she deserved.
We will be forever grateful to them during this difficult time.
We whole heartedly recommend Bartholamew Lodge to any family who are looking for a caring, respectful environment.

The staff and their manager are a credit to the health care profession and Bartholamew. Nothing was ever too much trouble. The manager will go above and beyond to help you and your relative and reassure you that they are safe and cared for.

The level of care that my nan's received whilst here was nothing short of amazing, they were respectful from the day she entered and continued to be even after my nan died whilst there. Her dignity and care were always a top priority for every member of staff there and this also extended to family members who were visiting, staff knew us all by name and made sure our needs were also met whilst there, even offering hugs and emotional support whilst I felt overwhelmed. I truly cannot thank the outstanding staff and their care and compassion enough, they really are a superb team who deserve great recognition for the level of care that is shown at all times to the entire family and not just the patients in their care, it really does take a special person to work in a care home and Bartholamew Lodge Nursing Home showcased this every day. Thank you to you all.

All the staff were extremely kind, pleasant and helpful. You were made to feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The home itself was clean and fresh, nice, bright and airy. Mom-in-law was clean and dressed and taken out of her room and included in activities. She seemed to be well taken care of. The thing that stood out the most was the staff seemed happy and this goes a long way to make it a good place to work in and live in.

Overall Experience

My aunty has been a resident at Bartholomew Lodge now for one year. As a nurse of nineteen years and a Deputy Manager in a care home myself I am more than happy with the care provided to my aunt. She is always clean and well presented. She loves the food and all of the staff are very friendly and kind towards her. Whenever there has been a problem this has been actioned swiftly. The building (although run down a little) is always clean, warm and smells nice. Do not let first appearances put you off placing your loved one into Bartholomew Lodge as the love and care they demonstrate towards their residents is lovely to see.

I am extremely happy with the care being provided to my uncle by all the staff at Bartholamew Lodge.
This home has given my uncle a life again; he is able to sit out in a chair, which he was unable to do previously, and all of his needs are met. Whenever I visit, he is content, clean and always looks smart.
The staff are all friendly and make you feel welcome; the manager and nurses are approachable, and you can talk to them at any time.
The activities coordinator provides person-centred activities for all.
The building itself is always very clean and has a homely feel.
I would recommend Bartholamew Lodge to anyone seeking care for a loved one.

Thank you all!

Petty MhlangaJob Title:Home managerJoined: 2021

I have been a qualified nurse for 26 years and have built my career across a range of roles, including Nurse, Deputy Manager, and Manager. Over this time, I’ve developed a strong understanding of both clinical care and team leadership. I’ve been with the company for the past five years, starting as a nurse and progressing into my current leadership role.

I chose to work in care because of my genuine passion for supporting older people. I find it incredibly rewarding to build meaningful relationships, understand each person’s story, and make a positive difference in their day—no matter how small. Whether it’s offering comfort, encouraging independence, or simply being there to listen, I’m committed to delivering compassionate, person-centred care.

My key strengths include leadership and team development, delivering high-quality care, and maintaining safe and effective clinical practices. I also focus on clear communication, supporting staff through training and mentoring, and creating a positive and motivated team environment.

My approach is centred on openness, inclusion, and support. I encourage honest communication with residents and families, ensuring their views are heard and reflected in the care we provide. I also prioritise staff wellbeing, maintaining an open-door approach and supporting ongoing development so the team feels confident, valued, and able to deliver the best care possible.

Outside of work, I enjoy travelling and experiencing different cultures, which helps me stay open-minded and appreciate diversity. I also value spending quality time with my family, as maintaining a healthy work-life balance is important to me.
