I bought my "aunt" - not really a blood relative, but a long standing friend of my parents- to stay with me in July 2023. At 96, she was finding it difficult to live in her own home. Her husband and son are deceased and her grandson is autistic and in a hostel. In June 2024 she developed what became
a stage 4 bed sore and was taken to hospital and then to a care home, by direction of social services. I had no experience of care home, but was aware of many shortcomings at that home and hence had her moved to St Nicholas House, which was highly recommended. The recommendations were right, the contrast is amazing. St Nicholas is all that I would imagine a care home should be. My aunt's accommodation is comfortable and well equipped, the staff are caring, friendly and communicative, the food is well thought out and the programme of activities for residents is well thought out and stimulating. St Nicholas House is a model of how a care home should be.
Reply from Vasilica Iovu, Manager at St Nicholas House LtdThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review. We are honoured that you chose St Nicholas House for your aunt's care and are delighted that you have seen the comfort, compassion and dedication of our team. We were so lucky we managed to get a room in the lovely St Nicholas home for our Dad. We had heard such good things about the home and we were certainly not disappointed. Dad was suffering with Dementia and the last two years he needed 24 hour care. I cannot thank the management and all the staff
enough for their kindness and care with our Dad. I was able to visit every day for just over two years and was always made to feel very welcome. Dad was always well looked after and I was kept informed of any changes in his condition by the excellent caring nursing staff. Dad was treated with respect at all times and we couldn't have asked for more. Dad loved to sit in the lovely garden and we would spend precious time together. I made lovely friends at the home and will miss the chats and laughter. Dad sadly passed away in September and we as a family are so grateful to everyone for their care and understanding. I will miss everyone.
Reply from Vasilica Iovu, Manager at St Nicholas House LtdDear Edwina,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartfelt review of your experience at St Nicholas. It means a great deal to all of us to know that your Dad felt comfortable, cared for, and respected during his time with us. We feel privileged to have been able to support him and your family over the past two years.
Your kind words about our team and the home's atmosphere truly touch us. We always strive to create a warm, welcoming environment where both residents and their families feel part of our community, so it's wonderful to hear this reflected in your experience.
Please accept our deepest condolences on your loss. It was an honour to care for your Dad, and we will remember him fondly. You will always be part of our St Nicholas family, and we hope you'll stay in touch.

My dad was admitted to Kings Bromley beginning of October sadly dad is at end of life care. I am so happy for him his room is kept clean. Dad wants for nothing and everything he requires is never any trouble. He's blind and deaf so feels extremely vulnerable and anxious at times the other day his hearing
aid wasn't working originally we thought a battery change it ended up having to have a overall to get it to work and the care and patience the carer went through to see dad had a working hearing was above and beyond. Nothing is too much trouble. Dads really cared for and feel confident he's in very safe hands in his final months.

Mom has recently been admitted to St Nich's following several physical illnesses. Right from the outset, she has been made to feel very welcome, we have been able to arrange her room to resemble her front room at home so the transition has not been too traumatic for her. The staff are friendly, caring
& have adapted to Mom's needs very quickly. They are receptive to family requests & encourage family input to ensure Mom receives the best care possible. The staff are all permanent, which is extremely beneficial in providing continuing good care for Mom & others & it is very reassuring for relatives to see the same friendly faces when visiting. As a family, we love joining in the activities with Mom & we are also able to join Mom on trips out. It is obvious that St Nich's is a well run establishment with all staff carrying out their varied roles with professionalism & sensitivity. In an ideal world, Mom would still be at home, but St Nichs is the next best thing.
Reply from Vasilica Iovu, Manager at St Nicholas House LtdDear Phillippa, thank you for your kind words about your mom's experience at St Nicholas House. The staff at richmond court are always very helpful. I cannot fault the care that my mother receives from the staff at richmond court. The building would benifit from a refurbishment and the rooms are basic for the weekly price that she is charged, however once you look past this the care staff do an
excellent job of looking after my mum and will go out of their way to help her.

When visiting I always received a warm friendly welcome. Any questions about my brothers welfare are soon answered. The staff are led by a very good manager who soon answers any questions I have, or soon finds out. When my brother had a recent illness he was well looked after and soon taken to hospital,
from where I didn't think he would return neither did the doctors. When he returned, with their care, he was soon back to normal.
