Bartholamew Lodge Nursing Home

from Kellie D (Daughter of Resident) published on 21 July 2025

Our mother was only in Bartholamew Lodge for a short time.
She was treated with dignity, compassion and kindness from the moment she arrived until she passed away.
The staff showed immense patience and showed a genuine interest in her.
When she passed the staff showed dignity and respect and treated
her with the kindness she deserved.
We will be forever grateful to them during this difficult time.
We whole heartedly recommend Bartholamew Lodge to any family who are looking for a caring, respectful environment.
The staff and their manager are a credit to the health care profession and Bartholamew. Nothing was ever too much trouble. The manager will go above and beyond to help you and your relative and reassure you that they are safe and cared for.

Reply from Petty Mhlanga, Manager at Bartholamew Lodge Nursing Home

St Nicholas House Ltd

from Juliet M (Daughter of Resident) published on 8 July 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Mum spent 16 nights at St Nicholas enabling me to go away for 2 glorious weeks with my husband. We could do this because we knew Mum would be safe and looked after. The standard of care is high - all staff members are friendly and approachable- really skilled in forming new relationships quickly. In
a short time Mum became really fond of all the staff working with her. Mum's needs are complex - she has bowel cancer and needs a low residue diet and once everyone understood what that looked like in practice, she was able to have tasty meals.
There are varied daily activities which you can join in with and which Mum thoroughly enjoyed.
However good a team is they can't function fully without good leadership. St Nicholas is very very well led. The ethos, values and committment of all are clear as soon as you enter the building.

Reply from Vasilica Iovu, Manager at St Nicholas House Ltd

Dear Juliet,Thank you for your lovely review. We're so pleased your mum felt safe, well cared for, and genuinely connected with our team during her stay. It's wonderful to hear she enjoyed the meals, activities, and the overall atmosphere of St Nicholas.Your kind words about our staff and leadership mean a great deal to us. Providing personalised, dignified care is at the heart of what we do, and we're grateful you noticed.Wishing you and your mum all the very best.Warm regards,Vasilica IovuHome Manager, St Nicholas Care Hom

My father had to go recently to the Queen's Hospital in Burton yesterday for a blood transfusion. He was at hospital for a long time and a carer from King's Bromley Care Home was with him throughout; from 7.30am - 7.30pm.

I joined my dad at about 12 noon and I wanted to pass on that the nursing staff

at Queen's Hospital A&E commended the carer for being professional and how he engaged with my dad. They said that often the carers who come into the hospital with residents do not engage much with the residents. They said that this carer was very different.

I wanted to let you know and please thank this carer.

My Dad was admitted to Richmond Court on Christmas Eve 2022. He can be quite difficult & at first was quite hostile to the staff, as he felt he had been pushed from pillar to post. However the way they have taken care of him has been fantastic. He was admitted with wounds caused by the lack of care
he had received previously. He has settled in very well now & has good rapports with the staff. He is like a different person. The care he receives is brilliant. His wounds have almost healed, which considering how bad they were is proof of the good care that is taken of him. I myself have always found the staff to be very personable, & nothing is too much trouble for them. This is especially good for me as I live over 200 miles away. It gives me peace of mind to know that my Dad is receiving this level of care

May I offer my sincerest gratitude to the manager and her wonderful dedicated wide-ranging team for the care and compassion they provided my mum. Despite mum's often challenging condition, every member of staff responded with the utmost professionalism - not to mention sincere personal displays of
empathy and kindness towards both mum and myself. All those at Kings Bromley should feel truly proud of themselves for maintaining such high standards of care, especially - and most importantly - at the human level. So, a big mighty Thank You to each and everone.

Although fairly basic the most important service was the quality of care given to the residents. It is very evident that the staff try to meet the needs of residents with respect and patience. They seem very well cared for physically and as far as possible emotionally. Visitors are welcomed and their
comments responded to. We have no hesitation with recommending this home to supple the essential care needed.
