Just wanted to say thank you to all the amazing staff that looked after my mum during her stay at St Nicks
Even though she was with you a short while the love prayers and care was always appreciated and made me feel reassured every time I visited her

As a family we were made to feel both welcome and supported by every one of the staff. In caring for mum it always felt that there was a strong supportive team but that her individuality was enjoyed and respected. I know mum had no desire to be in a care home but in choosing St Nicks we felt that
we had found a community where she would be cherished and well cared for. It was lovely that the carers shared her enjoyment of wearing her nice clothes and colour co-ordination and the incredible laundry team kept her clothes looking great. The communication from St Nicks, in particular from the nursing team, was excellent. Every change in needs was discussed with the family and the experience of the whole care team in caring for elderly residents with complex needs was very clear. We can see that mum had developed a rapport with the care and nursing team and I felt the same - I will miss my visits and chats with a couple of the staff members and the nurses and carers. Thank you.

Thank you so much for your kind words. We are truly delighted to hear that you and your family felt welcomed and supported, and that your mums individuality was valued and respected. It means a great deal to our whole team to know that the care, communication, and little toucheslike supporting her love of nice clothesmade a positive difference. We will make sure to share your comments with the staff and laundry team, who will be so pleased to know their efforts were appreciated. It was a privilege to care for your mum, and we send our very best wishes to you and your family.

Mum spent 16 nights at St Nicholas enabling me to go away for 2 glorious weeks with my husband. We could do this because we knew Mum would be safe and looked after. The standard of care is high - all staff members are friendly and approachable- really skilled in forming new relationships quickly. In
a short time Mum became really fond of all the staff working with her. Mum's needs are complex - she has bowel cancer and needs a low residue diet and once everyone understood what that looked like in practice, she was able to have tasty meals.
There are varied daily activities which you can join in with and which Mum thoroughly enjoyed.
However good a team is they can't function fully without good leadership. St Nicholas is very very well led. The ethos, values and committment of all are clear as soon as you enter the building.

My relative is happy, cared for and loved and respected at St Nicholas House. Her words 'I love it here, there's always something to do.". The respect and care and attention I have witnessed is nothing more than excellent. Watching the interaction between staff and residents, reflects an adult caring
and person-centred environment where the best is brought from individuals. Thank you for your wonderful care.

I can't praise the staff here enough. Rooms are clean, warm and comfortable. My father is so well cared for and I get updates all the time with staff knowing me and my father so well. Nothing is too much trouble.
The staff are always happy and smiling and always on hand for whatever reason.
The
staff are patient and have such a good understanding of dementia and how it affects the patient as well as the family.
I can't recommend St Nicholas House enough.

We’ve been very pleased with the care Mum received at St Nicholas, the staff are thoughtful, and the atmosphere is calm and warm. When Mum is poorly, the nurse is very responsive, and communication with the care staff is excellent. The activities are fantastic, and the home is well-organised. The activity
staff, as well as the manager, deputy and receptionist, have been amazing at helping to settle in Mum and welcoming in family members and visitors; we’re all very grateful.

Mum moved into St Nicholas House in November following a long spell in the hospital where she was very unwell. Since moving to St Nicholas House, she has been made to feel so welcome, and the staff are all so lovely. Mum's mental health has improved, and following wonderful care, her bed sores have
either cleared up or got a lot smaller. Mum really enjoys the food and having her hair done by a visiting hairdresser each week. The activities coordinator is wonderful and painted Mum's nails as part of a pamper morning; Mum has never had her nails painted, ever! Activities take place every day. Mum doesn't always want to get out of bed, but the staff are good at trying to encourage her to get out. I can't fault St Nicholas House or the care my mum receives.

Mum has lived at St Nicholas for nine months now, and we are extremely grateful and thankful for the very high standard of care that happens for the great majority of the time. The care, environment, food and general well-being of the residents are first-class. In particular, the activities staff are
just fab - something on offer nearly every day of the week. We feel very strongly that our views and wishes are listened to. The manager does a very good job of leading her team. It is s compliment to the staff that they attend many of the resident's activities during their own time.
The best care home in our locality.

Mum’s room is so lovely. We took all her pictures and photos she had at home to make it familiar to her. She’s made friends with a lot of the people in the home. The carers are lovely to her and she’s always clean and tidy. Although she’s only able to use one hand, she likes watching the activities.
The manager is very friendly.

My mother has been in St Nicholas House since April 2019. Being the eldest of four sons and as a family together, it was hard considering how independent our mother has always been. We can honestly say that Mum could not have been anywhere very than "St Nicholas", given the circumstances. Management,
staff and facilities have been first class. During the Covid restrictions, the staff have been like family to Mum, and as a family, we owe all staff at "St Nicholas" a debt of gratitude.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.212)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.212) out of 10 for St Nicholas House Ltd is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 5.000 for St Nicholas House Ltd is calculated as follows: ( (72 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 5
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.212 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Nicholas House Ltd is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 49 registered maximum number of service users is 9.8. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.8 = 0.612
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
