Thank you for such a positive review. It is much appreciated that the hard work the staff put in is acknowledged and complimented in such a kind way. I will pass this on to the staff team.
We are sorry to receive this review. When your father arrived with us, he was able to walk, and toilet himself, with prompting and support, however he also had significant behaviours which impacted his ability to be fully independent. He was placed on our complex dementia unit. He was supported and assessed throughout his stay. Unfortunately, his dementia related behaviours posed a significant risk to himself, his environment, and others. It is difficult to accept that a loved one can present with behaviours which are challenging, but we endeavour to work with relatives, to support them through these difficult times. It is a shame that the opportunity to discuss your concerns while your father was placed at the Gables, were not explored. We ensure that the environment is kept clean and hygienic. We do not restrict peoples access to their bedrooms and the nature of complex dementia means that personal items can get moved. On discharge he was still mobile and was able to toilet himself.

I have a passion for nursing with experience in dual diagnosis, learning disabilities, mental health and dementia.
My goal is to create and work as part of a collaborative team working in cohesion to provide the highest standard of person-centred care for our residents, in a safe, supportive and homely environment.
I feel very strongly that each resident has the right to autonomy in their lives and that their dignity and respect are promoted at all times, with the aim of achieving the best resident outcomes and experiences.
I am a Mental Health Nurse trained with over 10 years in managerial posts, starting my managerial role in a big healthcare organisation – BUPA.
My expertise lies in Nursing Homes, looking after older adults living with both dementia, other mental health issues or physical needs.
I am passionate about their health and wellbeing, providing care that is tailor-made to their needs and abilities (person-centred care). I am always an advocate for freedom, and also seeing a person first before seeing their illness.
I am also an advocate for:
• Transparency.
• Effective Communication – Keeping families informed and updated on the health and well-being of their loved ones.
• Advocate for residents to be cared for with respect, dignity, kindness and to always act in their best interest if they lack capacity.

I have worked in different roles during my employment, starting as a care assistant, progressing to a Team Leader, and from Administration to Regional Administrative Lead.

Hi, my name is Zoe, and I am a Receptionist/Admin support for the team here at The Gables. I started working at The Gables in January of 2022 as a carer, shortly after having my own experiences of living and caring for someone with dementia. Ever since, I have had a passion to use my knowledge and understanding to deliver the same expectation of person-centred care to the tenants who live under the roof of The Gables.
I am now based at the front of house, so I'll always be the first person you see and will invite you in with warm, welcoming arms to ensure that you are happy and that you feel comfortable upon your entrance and exit, after visiting a loved one. I will always answer any questions or queries you may have, but if I can point you in the right direction of whom you can speak to in order to have a good overview and understanding of the matter, I shall definitely do so. Our priority isn’t just ensuring that our residents are safe, happy and that their care needs are met… it is also important to us that families and friends leave with a good knowledge of what is happening with their loved ones and their care in order for them to leave happy - We are here as your support network too.
