The Gables Nursing Home is a purpose built care home that accommodates up to 47 older people over two floors.

Care provided ranges from nursing care to Complex Dementia care within a specialist unit including respite and long-term stays.

Staff are trained in supporting people with complex dementia and behaviours that challenge.

The Home is purpose built to a high standard of specification to provide an environment that allows for privacy, choice and a dignified lifestyle whilst also providing a full range of personal and nursing care services to meet all identified needs.

Rooms are for single use occupancy and are furnished to a high standard including an adjustable bed, wardrobe, lockable bedside table, armchair and nursing call point as standard.

Most bedrooms and lounges enjoy views overlooking the beautiful Bury Hill Park.

There is a dedicated well-being and activities team and residents are supported and encouraged to continue their current hobbies and to try new things. A hairdresser visits weekly.

A menu is created weekly and designed to provide a variety of choices of nutritionally balanced food. Individual meals are created for those who have dietary requirements.

The staff at The Gables Nursing Home are fantastic!
My sister and I are happy with the care our mum receives here, and we feel our mom is happy being here. I think they do an amazing job and feel the pay should match the great work they do!

The Gables Nursing Home is a fantastic care home. The staff are always so attentive and caring and I know my mom is well looked after and cared for. the management team are always available to respond to any concerns or queries and will always communicate any issues. In particular, five members of staff
are amazing at what they do but there are so many other staff I could mention but don't have room. Thank you all.

The Gables staff are always so friendly and welcoming. You can tell that they really care about all of the residents. They made a real effort for Nan to feel special on her birthday, decorating her room and bringing her a cake. They make sure that there are lots of lovely enriching activities to keep
the residents happy and entertained.

The caring staff are a credit to absolute health care. They haved nursed patients throughout the pandemic, there is a warm family atmosphere and the management team are approachable and professional. I have seen first-hand the warm caring attitude of the staff, and the home provides good, wholesome
well balanced meals. Well done to the team, I hope to visit again soon.

All the staff can't do enough for the patients. We are always welcomed with a smile. The nurses are always helpful if we need to ask anything. The rooms are always kept clean. The patients are very well looked after. I couldn't ask for a better home for my brother to be in. We find it an exceptional
place and would highly recommend it.

As a relative unable to visit their parent throughout the Covid pandemic, I have been overjoyed at the person-centered approach offered to my dad, especially in relation to activities. The staff have sought to get to know my Dad, to find out about his hobbies and interests. They risk assessed his abilities
and provided relevant and appropriate activities to stimulate his interests. I have felt reassured seeing photographs on the Facebook relatives page of Dad doing what he loves best and fully encouraged to do so. Whether that be helping with decorating, supporting to build garden furniture, helping to hang pictures or helping to put out bird feeders, Dad has loved it and thrives because of it. When Dad entered full-time care we envisaged him sitting in his room all day lonely, isolated, and being encouraged to take part in activities in which she had no interest such as jigsaws or board games. Thank you to the wonderful staff who are helping my Dad to still live well, despite dementia.

My Dad was only at The Gables for a few months before sadly passing away. The staff were amazing with him, calm and caring every day. In his final days, they were supportive and respectful to my dad as well as the family that visited him and those who were with him at the end. I can’t thank them enough
for all they have done.

My father was a resident at The Gables Nursing Home, Oldbury, West Midlands for 3 years. Since Absolute Care Homes took over, the standards have risen remarkably. Unfortunately, my fathers condition deteriorated and he died in early 2019. The staff are excellent, they are friendly, caring and professional.
My father was very happy in the home and it was a pleasure to go there. I can’t recommend The Gables enough.

It is a difficult task for a family to quickly trust a care provider for the care of an ill parent. After viewing a number of homes we found comfort in The Gables philosophy of care and the assurances of maintaining the highest quality of life for residents. We are grateful for the guidance and honest
approach from the Gables staff (from carers to senior management), especially during sensitive issues. All staff have dealt with my Father's dementia and challenging behaviours by providing an individual and considered plan, patience and understanding. We are provided with regular communication about my father's condition, future care and feedback from medical appointments.

This is a lovely care home. I have been visiting since February 2018.


The management are experienced, very caring and approachable. The staff, with 1 or 2 exceptions, live up to the name "Carer ".

I am always made to feel welcome before I walk through the front door, no matter what time it

is. Everyone is friendly and cheerful.

My mom has been in the home since December 2017 in the dementia unit.
Mom is well looked after and I always feel that she is safe. Despite challenging behaviours staff are very caring and put a lot of effort into building rapport.
Improvements to the building fabric are ongoing but seem to make slow
progress. Memory boxes outside rooms have been started but not completed.
The biggest positive is the attitude of the staff who are always welcoming, friendly and attentive. This applies to nursing staff and care assistants. Management are approachable and responsive to requests for information or assistance.
I do feel however that more could be done to provide activities to engage the residents and hold their interest. There’s often little to do for them. More use of outside help would be a start. E.g singer, exercise coordination, outside walk in the local park etc. Perhaps some of the challenging behaviours would be addressed if residents were occupied for at least part of the day.

I have worked in the care sector since 2011, and I am very enthusiastic about this career choice. I have always been passionate about elderly and Dementia care since a young age.


I have worked in different aspects of the care industry: Elderly Nursing Care, Adults with learning disabilities, Complex behaviour and Dementia Care, which I have a lot of passion for. I believe all individuals should be treated with dignity and respect, and that person-centred care is the best approach to follow.

Hi, my name is Zoe, and I am a Receptionist/Admin support for the team here at The Gables. I started working at The Gables in January of 2022 as a carer, shortly after having my own experiences of living and caring for someone with dementia. Ever since, I have had a passion to use my knowledge and understanding to deliver the same expectation of person-centred care to the tenants who live under the roof of The Gables.


I am now based at the front of house, so I'll always be the first person you see and will invite you in with warm, welcoming arms to ensure that you are happy and that you feel comfortable upon your entrance and exit, after visiting a loved one. I will always answer any questions or queries you may have, but if I can point you in the right direction of whom you can speak to in order to have a good overview and understanding of the matter, I shall definitely do so. Our priority isn’t just ensuring that our residents are safe, happy and that their care needs are met… it is also important to us that families and friends leave with a good knowledge of what is happening with their loved ones and their care in order for them to leave happy - We are here as your support network too.
