My father-in-law recently spent a few days in hospital which to be honest wasn't nessessary ( dr thought it was) . This over confused him and he deteriorated very quickly. Charlotte James could of cared for him better. On his return the care was amazing..they even surprised him with an outside bar
naming it the pub name of the pub he used to run and getting him to cut a ribbon to open it up. The smile on his face was amazing. The supporting staff we feel went above and beyond their duties and were completely amazing. The care is extremely person centered to his needs.
The managers and all the people that work there are amazing.
Plus today at the Easter fayre everyone worked so hard.
Well done all.
Plus my father-in-law says the food is top.

I cannot praise the staff enough. My mom entered the home for palliative care, only four years later and aged 94, she is still with us. This is only because of the dedication and care of the wonderful staff. They are more than carers as far as my sister and I are concerned, they are friends and family.

Mum, unfortunately, had to move in to nursing due to a nasty fall. She was made so welcome, nothing was too much trouble. All of the team are so friendly and helpful. I know mum is well looked after and I can relax a little as I am always contacted if there is any issues. Keep up the good work to manager
and team.

My father, who suffers with vascular dementia, went into the Charlotte James Care Home in early September. We were concerned it would take him a while to settle in but the staff have done a tremendous job and there have been no issues. He's a lot happier there compared to the previous residential home
he was in. The activities and entertainment are of a high standard and the atmosphere of the place is very pleasant and inviting. The manager is very friendly and approachable and you will see her throughout the home making sure the residents are comfortable. They are a good team at Charlotte James and this is reflected in the standard of care.

My husband has been at Charlotte James now for almost a year. From December 26, 2019. As a wife and carer, I would give a big thumbs up. They have dealt with all my husband's needs and more. The home has a homely feel, carers are so caring and they have dealt very well with the recent covid pandemic.
My husband has complex needs. The nursing staff have from day one have professionally managed very well, I would give this home a top rating. All staff are brilliant with cleaning, also maintained well throughout - keeping residents happy in their home. Not forgetting the kitchen staff; home-cooked meals are amazing, thank you. The manager and all the rest of the staff are brilliant.

Extremely reluctant for my mother to enter a care/nursing home, however, for health and safety reasons my mother was no longer able to live in her own home.
My fears were soon replaced by the overwhelming homely atmosphere within the establishment. My mother soon settled in her own room and is quite
content. Due to the wonderful medical attention received, the staff have achieved what a hospital could not, we the family are extremely grateful.
The management and staff are so attentive and dedicated, kindness, dignity and patience are in abundance. Charlotte James Care Home has everything a resident needs.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (9.046)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (9.046) out of 10 for Charlotte James Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.957 for Charlotte James Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (45 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 47 Ratings = 4.957
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.089 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Charlotte James Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 28 registered maximum number of service users is 5.6. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 5.6 = 0.714
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
