Brookview offers a warm, homely atmosphere and the highest standard of care. The well-being of my husband was their primary concern, whatever challenges they were given. They gave me complete peace of mind after every visit and I would highly recommend Brookview Nursing Home.

My general view of Brookview Nursing Home is very good but I think one area to be considered is safeguarding the needs of vulnerable residents from the wanderings of the confused and unsettled and the ones who enter the other rooms. This can be very upsetting for the residents when the understanding of emergency buttons is not there.

Reply from Lindsay Morris, Manager at Brookview Nursing Home

The management and staff take on board this comment about some of our clients that have reduced capacity yet, retain the ability to walk around the home freely. It is a difficult balance to ensure that everyone's rights are respected in terms of being able to express themselves by walking around...

More casual seating could be supplied for visiting guests. Water and glass should be available 24 hours a day. No receptionist is on duty at weekends, resulting in often long delays for visitors to gain access to the home.

Brookview is warm, welcoming and comfortable. I feel it is safe and secure. Food looks healthy and appetising, noted top hygiene rating. The staff treat residents with kindness, care, compassion and dignity, addressing them appropriately by their first name. I have concerns about overall management. Asked to see Manager for a week - it didn't happen. Finally told who the Manager was and she had been there many times. Poor communication between staff - didn't know when we were leaving though had been told. Some staff not great at interacting with visitors - I think this is an important part of overall care. Efficient - No. 1 overall. I have no huge concerns but I think managerial communication improvements could be made. Also more contact time between staff and residents, including more activities.

Reply from Lindsay Morris, Manager at Brookview Nursing Home

It is incredibly sad for both management and staff to read such a dreadful review from a relative of someone who was in our care due to us accepting them on an emergency basis. As the Manager of the home, I am utterly perplexed as to why this relative scored management as 'very low' and criticised...

My mother was placed in Brookview. She was made very welcome and easily settled in. I was made fully aware of the care and services provided and was given assistance in completing the various forms for financial assistance.

My 94 year old mother had to be admitted for temporary respite care after hospital discharge, recovering from a broken hip after a fall. From the initial assessment at her home prior to admittance, to the superb care received, and finally arranging re-admittance to hospital after deterioration, they were absolutely wonderful with my mum. She had reservations over respite care after previous episodes in a different care home, where she didn't enjoy her time. But, even in her short time here, she made comments to me about the "lovely staff" who came to give her help, care and more importantly dignity and respect. Always a sociable lady she formed a great rapport, with several staff and had nothing but praise for all she came into contact with. To know your own mother was happy here gave the rest of her family great peace, knowing she was in good hands, in what I see as a very hard job. You have to be dedicated, and I only saw the highest standard of this. Superb place!

Brookview has a very warm, comfortable relaxing atmosphere. The staff are all very kind, helpful and caring. Mealtimes are very pleasant, plenty of choice on offer, the home is kept clean and tidy. Plenty of activities if you wish to join in. Communal rooms are lovely. My mother was hesitant at first about going to live in a home but Brookview is lovely.

As soon as I entered Brookview, I knew it was perfect for my elderly friend and was so pleased his family chose it.
The staff and management are excellent. So caring and compassionate to the needs of the residents.

The home always smells lovely, is clean and tidy and the staff always appear happy. I would highly recommend this home to anyone thinking of admitting an elderly relative to a care home.

The nursing home felt very welcoming and homely. The room Nan was in was lovely - bright and clean.
The large window made it very pleasant.

We had a cup of tea in the lounge and that was also really nice.

Mum came via the NHS hospital after a fall in another home. Mum has settled really well although I did have my own anxieties. She has put on weight, a good sign. The food is fantastic and not an outreach company.

The home is spotless and the staff are friendly and approachable and keep you well informed of any changes which is very reassuring.

Brookview is a clean and welcome home. Some improvements during 2018 have given the home a lift, i.e Reception area, dining room and lounge. Care of the residents is generally good but there are some shortcomings, i.e not changing bed linen regularly. Nursing care is also good and patients needs are generally met. Activities are ongoing for those wishing to take part.

Reply from Lindsay Morris, Manager at Brookview Nursing Home

It is very sad to read that this family feel that there are shortcomings with the home in terms of bed changes. It is very clear in our documentation that bed changes must occur a minimum of weekly for all residents and more often if required. This particular lady has requested weekly bed changes...

Home is well situated, well decorated and clean.

Showers are limited to 1 per week if staff available.

Reply from Lindsay Morris, Manager at Brookview Nursing Home

It is unfortunate that this review mentions showers being limited which is not the case. We do ensure that all residents are given at least one shower per week but that they also have the opportunity to request further should they so wish. As this service user has suggested that this is the case,...
