Every time I visit the staff know my Grandma by name, can tell me how she's doing, what she's been up to and where she is currently. The staff don't have a high rotation so they all recognise me and I believe my grandma has a good continuity of care.

My uncle seems very relaxed and content in his new home. It is nice to see so many of his own pictures and possessions around him in his bedroom. The staff are all really friendly and attentive, and seem to treat all residents as individuals, aware of their different personalities, needs and preferences.

The carers are very responsive, competent, knowledgeable about my conditions and caring and compassionate.
Despite often working under pressure they are always amendable, positive and cheerful.

I am incredibly relieved to have found Burton Closes Hall which is a lovely safe environment for my mother. The care is excellent and my mother, who was anxious and reluctant about moving into the home has settled in happily. Her care has been the most important concern for myself and my brother for several years. Despite her poor health, the support she has received has seen her improving in her sense of wellbeing.

It's hugely reassuring to know that she is settled and cared for.

We came down for our cousins funeral. Our cousin was a resident here before she passed away and shared a room with our Auntie, her mum. We've been to this place before to visit too, the staff are fantastic, so good with the residents, even if the resident is having one of these days the staff can bring them back to the time and place. There food is good here too, with a few choices.

My Auntie has settled in her room on her own now, and the staff look after them so well.

Reply from Ana Airinei, Manager at Burton Closes Hall

Thank you so much for your kind words during this difficult time. My dad was admitted to Burton Closes 3 weeks ago and has settled in surprisingly well - considering he is a very private and introverted man. The staff are lovely and seem to actively make the effort to engage with him to help him to feel settled and at home. He enjoys the food, is very happy with his room and appreciates the ability to be able to sit out in the lovely courtyard area. My sisters and I feel the decision to have him here was definitely the right thing for him.

The care staff at Burton Closes Hall treat our mother with genuine kindness and compassion. Staff work well together as a team and there are rarely agency staff on duty. Our mother is very vulnerable through severe dementia and me and my family are so happy with the way she is looked after. Moving Mum to a care home was a terrible experience but we are delighted with the placement at Burton Closes.

I have enjoyed a wonderful relaxing respite break being cared for by kind, dedicated, conscientious caring care staff and nurses. I have ran out of adjectives to describe these people. Absolutely everyone has made my much needed stay so beneficial and then magnificent view over the wonderful countryside. I really do not have words to do full justice of this very special place. I feel priveledged to have been able to spend time here and cannot wait to return, hopefully in December. If possible, I hope to eventually end my days here. Very big thank you to all, management and every single person who has made me feel so relaxed and cared for.

Overall Experience

My father has been receiving live-in nursing care at Burton Closes Hall for 22 months. He suffered a head injury leading to a hematoma and brain surgery. He was bed-bound, unable to feed himself, and with limited speech after 8 months in hospital. He was not expected to improve. He proved more stubborn and mobile than expected and the home had to cope with him rolling out of bed and crawling around his room. They adapted their care to reduce his risk of self-injury and encouraged him to leave his room in a wheelchair. He learned to feed himself and improved his ability to express himself. The physios discovered that he could stand and walk a few steps with a Zimmer frame. However, he has remained unpredictable and without insight into his vulnerability. The home recognised his need for one-to-one care and assisted us in obtaining appropriate funding from the NHS. They continue to adapt as he slowly improves. The home has been excellent and all the staff are like family to us.
