Mum has been in miilfield care home for nearly 10 years and she very pleased to be there. I visit twice a week and have my lunch with her . She is well looked after and cared for very well . The home is very comfortable and the staff and carers are helpful and I think they look after my mum professionally and treat her like a friend
Thank you so much for your lovely review! Were delighted to hear that your mum has been happy at Millfield for so many years and that you enjoy visiting and sharing lunch together. It means a lot to know you feel she is well cared for and treated with kindness and respect. We truly appreciate your kind words about our team and the home its wonderful to have your continued trust and support.
Mum has been in Millfield over 3 years and is very well looked after. Lately she has missed seeing the managers dog who is no longer allowed in. She was very popular and calming residents.
They have some lovely activities for the residents mum really enjoyed pony day where she got to pet some miniature pony's.
Overall as a family we are really happy with the care that mum recieves and it's a big relief to know mum is happy.

All the staff were fabulous with her. They loved her like their own.

My mother stayed at Millfield Nursing Home struggling with poor mobility following a hospital admission. Sadly I feel that my mother’s physical and mental health declined in the four weeks that she was there and the promise of care that would be provided for my mother was not fulfilled. The high price does not reflect a high standard of quality of care and value for money. However the thing I find the most shocking was getting my mother to sign a Residence Contract without a family member present. I was later told “she has capacity” but at 96 I feel this is totally unacceptable. Yes, she has capacity but not to sign a 13-page contract setting out the legally binding terms and conditions of her stay. This really is not good practice.
Dear NG. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Your feedback is really important to us here at Millfield. With regards to the concerns you have raised, I would be happy to speak with you about this directly. Please do reach out to me or a member of the team here if you would like to...
Our mum was in Millfield care home for three and a half years from June 2020 to December 2023 when she passed away. Over the years the care our mum received was incredible, they treated her with love and respect and she formed special bonds with all of the wonderful staff. When our mum had her stroke it was so hard for me and my two sisters having to put her in a care home, but we were so glad we chose Millfield. We ourselves built up really good relationships with all the staff, nothing was too much trouble. We experienced some wonderful moments with Mum, especially going down to watch the entertainment singers, Christmas and Summer fairs. Knowing our mum was loved and cared for by everyone gave us peace. In Mum's final days everyone was absolutely amazing in every way, the way they handled Mum, how they treated and spoke to her was just incredible, they supported us too and couldn’t do enough for us all. There are not enough words to say how grateful we are to each and every one of them. Thank you.

The staff were so welcoming and couldn’t do enough for her. They were so friendly, and the support they gave her was brilliant.
The food was good, and they always encouraged her to eat with other residents.
The management of the home was excellent. Overall, a really nice place to stay. She definitely wants to return for another stay.
Thank you for taking the time to review Millfield. It was a pleasure to care for your relative, and it was lovely that she made friends and joined in our activities. She would be welcome to join us again.
I've witnessed residents being shouted at by carers. Resident checks are infrequent, and they can be left on the floor, shouting for help for an hour or more at a time. Meal quality/size is inconsistent, and residents are sometimes forgotten. Residents are often insufficiently dressed, and the home is insufficiently heated. Clothes regularly go missing. The majority of residents are also left in their rooms, with no stimulation, and excluded from any form of entertainment. The carers have no dementia training, and most don't understand how to speak to anybody who lacks full capacity. Don't expect to see the manager around the home, as she is usually locked in her office. The floor is often dirty/sticky, and excessive amounts of air freshener is used, which is bad for those with respiratory problems. I could put more, but running out of characters!
This home may be okay for somebody who can speak for themself, however, I'd avoid if your/your relatives' needs are at all more complex.
Dad had short spells of respite over the last year so when it came to full-time care we were confident that Millfield Nursing Home was to be his home. It is such a friendly and welcoming place for both residents and their family. The staff are so caring and I feel confident Dad is getting the best care he could. Also, the activities and days out are great for the residents and Dad never complains about the food!. Would definitely recommend.
It is a pleasure to care for your father. Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review for Millfield, your positive feedback is greatly appreciated and will be fed back to the team.
Good experience at the care home. The staff are caring and attentive. The only problem I have is with the cleaning regime, which I feel could be more thorough, especially when it concerns bathrooms and toilet areas.
At Millfield, we strive to ensure that all of our residents have the best possible experience. Your feedback is really very important to us, so thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience with us.
Most of the staff are very good and the facilities are OK. Sometimes people lose sight of just how much some patients are paying from their own life savings to be cared for.
A very friendly atmosphere from all the staff and around the home in general. Resident checks are very frequent and jovial. Help with feeding the resident is gladly given. The dignity of resident is protected at all times by the staff. End-of-life care given with care and compassion. This applies to visitors as well as the resident. A home where caring is the number one priority. I would definitely recommend this care home.
Thank you for your kind words of support. It makes a big difference to our Bolsover care teams to know that they are appreciated.
Dad went in the nursing home after an awful time in hospital. He has Alzheimer's and deteriorated a lot in hospital. All the staff at Millfield Nursing, from nursing staff, carers, laundry, cleaning and cooks, and not least the entertainment staff, they are all a credit to the home for not only doing their job but for clearly caring for the residents and the family who visit.
My dad is now on end of life care, and he is so comfortable and relaxed it is making a terrible time seem so much more bearable. I thank God that my dad was put in this nursing home. He has clean clothes on every day, all washed and ironed well. He is clean shaven. The food is great, home cooked food, amazing cakes.
Over many years I have visited people in nursing homes and never seen as much care as I see in Millfield. It is such an important job, and having the right staff is crucial.
Thank you to all the Millfield staff.
Management is excellent and very professional. Staff are very responsive and caring to their job in caring, not only for Mum to the highest attribution possible. My trust is with this nursing home to look after my mum, 95 years old, to which I compliment them on a good job and care.
It was a pleasure to care for your father and now your mother. Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review for Millfield, your positive feedback is greatly appreciated by the team.
It's been amazing to see dad and mum. The staff are amazing. The visit through the french doors was very emotional.

All the staff are very caring and patient. Although most are quite young, they have a lot of compassion. The activities are very good with quite a variety from games to quizzes and cooking.
As family members, we found the support and guidance provided second to none. Staff went out of their way to help and support us, something that was incredibly reassuring at such a difficult time.

My mum and I are both happy with the care and support she is receiving. We enjoy attending the activities the home provides. They seem to be bringing my mum back to her old self. We are looking forward to having Christmas dinner at Millfield with my mum.
