Having moved Mum from another care home, the difference in Mum is remarkable. It’s like she’s been given a new lease of life. The staff get her up every day and bringing her downstairs to join in with the activities and to sit with others for her meals has definitely helped my mum.

All the staff have been excellent at the home; they are very friendly and caring in every way to my mum and us as a family.
There are plenty of activities for residents, and over the Christmas period, I was impressed as they had a pantomime come into the home and a choir; the Mayor came, and everyone
involved enjoyed it all. Mum is treated with respect and dignity. The manager is excellent; she answers all my queries either personally or over the phone. They have all been brilliant. I would recommend the home to anyone.

My mother has been in this care home for two years now and her care has been extremely good. The staff are very good and caring we had a big party at the home for my mother's 100th birthday. It was a fantastic party, with all staff and patients having fun.

Thank you so much for caring for my sister, a special thank you to the manager, what an amazing nurse that goes over and above with her care. Thank you for today when I dropped the chocolates off to say thank you, for comforting me with the loss of my sister. Please, can she get a pay rise or some recognition,
she is amazing!
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.

My wife has been cared for in the home for nearly three years. During that time she has been cared for extremely well and is quite content to live in the care home.
Due to the various pandemic restrictions, we have only been able to visit her by appointment restricted to her room and my observations
are made from these visits (and daily telephone calls).

Oliver House is the ideal nursing for my mother who has severe dementia. All the staff accommodate Mum's needs and do not expect her to fit in with them, unlike other care homes. On my last visit, it was great to be able to join in the sing-a-long and daytime activities and lovely to see arrangements
well in place for the Jubilee. I would recommend it to anyone who wants their relative to be in a happy, caring environment.

My husband looks well and happy, his clothes are picked out to match and he is clean and well cared for. The atmosphere is happy and content. The staff seem really caring and my husband knows all of their names. He also tells me that the food is great. I also like the fact that he is allowed to lie
in bed if he wants in the mornings, getting up at 10:30 am for breakfast.

Due to the fact that my mother first moved in, in March, I am unable to fill in all of the ratings section. I just have not been inside, but the interchange I have had with them up until now is first class.

Both my grandma and now my mum, have been in Oliver House and the staff and the management have always been excellent with both. During the Pandemic, the home was locked down immediately and this has stopped my Mum from getting ill, which could have been disastrous with her condition. I have always
found everyone very helpful and they keep me well informed about anything I need to know.

Nursing care is excellent, staff are incredibly caring and professional. A lovely homely feel to the place, improvements happening to the door, chairs etc. Very grateful to all staff for their care and protection of residents throughout this pandemic and fully agree with their visiting policies. My
Mum died there in November and we were so well cared for during this time. Excellent nursing home.

I have visited my grandad since he moved in last October every week. He has dementia and he came from another home. He has now started smiling again and I have received emails and photo messages of him joining in with all the activities. What a wonderful place this home is. It also gives me peace of
mind knowing he is safe and happy.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.490)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.490) out of 10 for Oliver House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 14 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.665 for Oliver House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (120 Excellents x 5) + (33 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 164 Ratings = 4.665
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.825 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oliver House Nursing Home is based on 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.825
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 26 registered maximum number of service users is 5.2, which has been reached with 13 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
