I cannot praise enough the caring staff at Evington Home. My mother had to move in at short notice, due to a medical deterioration. The staff at Evington Home, from the office administrators to the carers, cleaners and catering staff, have shown exceptional kindness and patience. As a result, my mother settled easily and continues to be happy there. My mother has a lovely room overlooking the large linden tree in the adjacent independent living complex. The home is bright, airy and always scrupulously clean. My mother enjoys walking in the gardens and participating in the many activities, both religious and secular, within Evington Home.

We have recently had to move my mother to Evington Home at very short notice for two weeks respite care. We were already familiar with the staff and the set up. The way that all the staff have dealt with it has been excellent and they have all been so caring, welcoming my mum with open arms. We are very grateful.

Evington Home is a lovely place. They have devotionals, church meetings, therapy dogs come in and many other activities. I can see my nan is well looked after and the staff are so friendly and accommodating. Some staff are there specifically to talk to residents and interact with them. I would highly recommend this place.

I want to say a heartfelt thank you to the managers, staff and volunteers of the Pilgrims Friend Society Evington Home. My father/dad had respite care there in August 2022. I was concerned about it wondering how he would take it. My husband and I visited him over the two weeks he was there. Daddy looked rested, at peace and seemed to be enjoying his stay. That took a load off my mind. The staff were lovely to all of us. Having worked there over twenty years ago, this home has certainly changed a lot. For the better, I might add! Thank you so much for the work you are doing.

All care home staff always display a caring and friendly attitude to residents and visitors. I am confident that my relative’s overall needs are a priority. Sometimes there seems to be a little inconsistency with regards to my relative’s current needs and mood and I’ve drawn attention to how my relative seems to be feeling on occasions. Whilst physical care of residents during the pandemic has been the home’s number one priority, there was a slowness in flexibility to progress to specific individual needs for residents that unnecessarily prolonged distant visiting regimes.

The care shown to my mother when I recently visited was lovely. The carer showed kindness, patience, and understanding to her. She had time to spend with her and explain several times what was happening and why. She was friendly but not overbearing.

The family chose the Evington Home for our mother for its Christian ethos and other prior connections. The Home is light and airy, with a lovely big lounge opening out onto the level access garden to walk or sit in. The bedrooms have beautiful views to the garden/park. The Homes uses a whole person approach called "The Way We Care" (on their website), and everyone is called a "family member". The Home offers a stimulating daily routine which mum attends, including morning service and afternoon activities including exercise, crafts, music, baking, quizzes, music, and celebrating birthdays with cake! I have seen firsthand the care, kindness, and patience of the staff. Everyone is friendly and respectful towards mum. Staff are always helpful on my essential carer visits and chat through concerns in person or phone calls. All the family live away but we have peace that mum is well looked after. Mum has a multi-faceted Care Plan which is documented and reviewed regularly.

Lovely friendly staff who care for my parents very well. Always helpful and courteous when we visit. My mother and father seem very happy with the care they receive. The choice of food could be increased to consider a wider range of tastes but this is a minor criticism. Very clear and helpful email communication around Covid guidelines from the managers.

I have found the staff friendly and the whole experience of visiting a welcome one. The resident I see has settled in very well and that is testament to the quality of care. It is so good to know that spiritual needs are addressed along with the more functional ones.

Overall Experience

My husband was made to feel very welcome, several members of staff popped in to say hello as we were unpacking. Our first impression of the home had been very positive when we had arrived unannounced for a look round and had been struck by the peace and calm, the fresh environment compared to other places we had visited, and specifically the Christian ethos which had attracted us despite the distance from home. The activities they provide are more suitable for and of interest to my husband. During every visit, the staff are friendly, kind and very gentle and supportive. Even during the current Covid restrictions, they have endeavored to continue with the daily worship and have enabled us to visit, and we can see that my husband is very peaceful and content, although we realise he would benefit from more visits when they are allowed.

I have found this Care Home management and staff to be very personable, friendly and caring towards my cousin and myself.
The management team have been helpful in instances where correspondence has been sent on behalf of my cousin to overcome some legal problems, not connected with the Home.

My cousin and I have have been encouraged by the committed Christian activities of the Home.
