I feel that a staff ratio of 3 carers on his floor is essential at all times.
Thank you for your kind feedback. Were very pleased to hear your husband is receiving excellent care and that the teams kindness and attentiveness are supporting him so well. Your comments about staffing are appreciated, and we will ensure they are noted and considered.
The staff work tirelessly to make sure she has everything she needs and they're all so friendly and have an extremely loving way about them. Keep up the great work.
Thank you for your lovely feedback. Were so pleased to hear your mum is finding the home perfect and that our teams care and kindness are making a positive difference. Your comments mean a great deal to us, and well continue striving to provide the high standard of care she deserves.
The staff are all professional and friendly which I believe has helped in Mum settling in.
They keep me well informed of the care and needs of my Mum and the Room is clean and well kept.
Thank you Derek. Your kind words mean a great deal to the team, and we remain committed to providing the highest standard of care for your mum.
He mentioned about getting disturbed by staff once he's took his tablets and wants to sleep it off. That's all. Everything else is excellent. Note from son: I'm at ease knowing he's looked after by good hearted people.
Thank you for your kind words. It is an pleasure to look after all the residents at Shire Lodge Nursing Home.
My mum came to Shire Lodge after not settling in another care home and had been evicted. It was a terrible and unsettling time. Once at Shire Lodge, she settled immediately. She returned to her happy, singing self, put weight back on and accepted personal care. I put this down to the friendly and homely environment, staff who are well trained and every wellbeing need considered. She soon called it 'home' and accepted this is where she lives. As a family, we couldn't be happier. Thank you.
Thank you for your very positive comments on recognising the hard work given by all of our staff at Shire Lodge Nursing Home, they are a great team, very happy and helpful. We will pass on all of your comments, we are so pleased that Mum has settled and feels comfortable at Shire, it must make you feel at ease. Kind regards.
I am so happy and grateful for the dementia team at Shire Lodge and how they care for my grandma. My grandma is thriving here. I recommend it highly to anyone seeking a lovely, welcoming and excellent female dementia nursing home for their loved ones. Thank you for all you do for my grandma Shire Lodge team, it is so appreciated. I am/have not been involved in the care home financials or comparison so could not comment on this.
Thank you for taking the time to review Shire Lodge Nursing Home. All our staff will be very happy to see your positive comments and feedback, it is most appreciated.
Excellent service at Shire Lodge Nursing Home, care is second to none and staff go over and beyond to cater for their needs. Everyone who works there mucks in to make sure all residents are happy with sorting entertainment out and other things to do. Nice to see residents happy, my mum was happy there and she made new friends. 100% service.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We are so happy that you and your mum where happy with all the care provided.
My husband has been amazing since he has been with them. He enjoyed everything they do there. Thank you for what they have done for him and they always look after him. The staff are welcome to me in the home.
Thank you for your fabulous review, we will pass on all your positive comments to our dedicated team at Shire Lodge.
Shire is a very homely home, everyone is made to feel comfortable.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are glad you are happy with the services and care offered to the residents of Shire Lodge Nursing Home.
Can't fault them. Outstanding care and very professional and friendly. Keep family updated on any issues or appointments. Staff check-in regular and a chat. I feel that these have done more for me than the hospital. My family say that I'm a lot happier too. Cannot thank them enough.
Thank you for your lovely review. I'll be sure to let the team know.
From the moment my mum entered Shire Lodge, she was given the warmest of welcomes. All staff at Shire Lodge have been kind, patient and caring towards my mum. All of them, carers, activities, canteen, domestic, reception, nurses and management all continue to show a genuine concern for her. Mum’s behaviour can sometimes be challenging; they are always patient, kind and respectful towards her. The decision to place a loved one into care is one of the most difficult things to do, and I made it with great reluctance and worry. The staff at Shire Lodge have made it so much easier to accept. They not only support my mum, but they also support me, and I really can’t thank them enough. Their support and communication have been invaluable.
Thank you so much for your kind review. I'll be sure to let the rest of the team know.
Shire Lodge Nursing Home may not be the fanciest nursing home around, but what they lack in looks is outweighed by the care they give to their residents, which to myself and my family is the most important thing. Since being at the home, he hasn’t had to be admitted to the hospital once. The staff are always pleasant and helpful whenever I have needed to speak with them. They keep me updated with my dad's condition and any concerns they may have. I feel they are always trying to improve where they can. My overall thoughts are that it is a good home, and they do the best they can for their residents.
Kind Regards,
Shire Lodge
Mum always looks clean, and the room is relatively clean but could do with revamping. Mum gets taken to some activities and looks happy when she attends. The food looks nice and tasty. Overall, I’m satisfied with her care.
Genuinely caring staff and treat patients like family or friends. Happy to answer questions and regularly update you on issues or changes. Food management and observation might be a little better but understand staffing challenges and that time might not be available. At times when we visit, food can either be what is not wanted or cold and uneaten. Plenty of events to keep patients entertained and socialising.
We asked if it was possible to have my dad in Shire Lodge because it was close to where we live, and my mum could see my dad. My dad was on end of life at the end of January 21. From the beginning to the end when he passed away in February, everybody that we met in the care home was wonderful. We could phone up any time, and nothing was too much. All staff were lovely, they made sure family members were ok as well as my dad. My dad liked all his carers and nurses; he didn't have a bad word to say about anyone. If we needed information on Dad, they gave it to us and kept us in the loop on how he was. Sadly Dad passed away in Shire Lodge in February; the staff looked after him to a high standard. The funeral director even commented on how wonderful my dad looked when they came for him. We cannot thank all the staff enough for the care he received. I would recommend Shire Lodge through my own personal experience.
Kind Regards.
I was very optimistic about placing Mum into a care home but all the staff at Shire Lodge put me and Mum at ease. As soon as she was through the door everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The care was amazing and nothing was to much trouble. Although Mum could be demanding at times the staff were patient and kind all the time. I would definitely recommend Shire Lodge to anyone.
It is evident that your support has been holistically tailored to our mum that your team has been able to predict when it was her time to pass on that you were able to a doctor and called us to let us know that she will not be able to make it through the night. Therefore, although we did not arrive on time because we live far away, she did not die alone. You don't realise how much this means to us!
The paperwork was spot on! We were able to check how much food and fluid intake she had since she arrived in your setting. We were made aware of the various strategies that your team has employed to encourage her to eat and drink and we are grateful that you have exhausted all the means to ensure that all strategies have been explored within reason and with her consent.
Your lovely comments are very much appreciated. The staff at Shire Lodge work tirelessly to ensure our residents receive the very best care and this is reflected within this review. Thank you again and I will be sure to share this review with the team.
Also, I do not receive any feedback on any activities they have done.
The staff are courteous and are very helpful.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review, it is most appreciated. I will be sure to pass this on to the nursing home team. Many thanks - Paige
When entering the care home, I'm always welcomed with a friendly; "hello how are you". The staff are always kind and always help with any problems I may have.
Thank you, W P, for this review. I will be sure to pass on your kind words to our team. Many thanks, from Shire Lodge Nursing Home team.

Meet the Team (2)

I joined the company in 2010. I was a care assistant within the home until November 2018 and was then given the opportunity of Administrator. I love my job and the company I work for and I am willing to help anyone and everyone in any way I can. Helping others on a day-to-day basis is a passion of mine and to be surrounded by a great co-workers and residents makes me happy to be coming to work every day.
I have level 2&3 in health and social care and I am now working towards my Level 3 Administration to better my knowledge. I hope to be with the company for many years to come.

My name is Dawn and I am the activities coordinator at Shire Lodge Nursing Home. Next month will mark the 6th year I've worked here. I started my life at Shire as a carer and have been lucky enough to gain qualifications and experience with differing levels of Dementia.
I moved over to activities to "help out" and have chosen to stay on it, that was 4 years ago!
I consider my job to be the best job and I love it. I get to spend quality time with all the residents and enjoy getting to know their loved ones too. Planning ways to maintain their wellbeing through crafts, games, tea parties, live entertainment to name a few and sometimes just hold their hand if that's what they want.
As I said it's the best job.
