Overall Experience

My father became a resident of Cherry Holt Care Home in March 2023. Our first impression was of a clean, well decorated and homely environment where clients were treated with empathy, compassion and dignity. The staff were extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. I felt that nothing was too much trouble for either my father or myself. The care team include myself in all decision making regarding my father's ongoing care and treatment. During a period of unsettled behaviour, the staff remained resilient and continued to support my father in the same way they had previously. I cannot commend the Cherry Holt enough for their care of my father. The food is of high quality, he is always clean and well presented and there a number daily activities he can participate in involving other residents. My father is happy and settled at Cherry Holt and I have peace of mind that whilst I am at work, he is being safely managed by people who are a credit to their profession.

Overall Experience

The standard and quality of care at this home is exceptional. All the staff are caring and thoughtful. They have vastly improved both the mental and physical condition of my mother, who is now able to do so much more than I ever expected. In many ways she has been returned to us. She is never going to 'get better', but she is so much improved. I am always made to feel welcome and there is always someone available if I need to discuss any aspects of her current or future care. There are a wide range of activities to stimulate residents and staff are very receptive to new ideas or suggestions. In warmer weather the garden is invaluable and this is appreciated by residents and family alike. I cannot give enough praise.

Dad has been a resident at Cherry Holt for 6 weeks, now and his health has greatly improved due to the excellent care he receives. He has settled in well and is happy and comfortable, which makes us realise that he is in the right place to meet his health and welfare needs.

We are always made to feel welcome and enjoy visiting. The atmosphere is always calm and relaxed. There are a variety of activities every day, where staff and residents interact in a positive manner.

Overall Experience

The home has been a real support to the family. Going into a care home is a difficult time for all involved and is not an easy process, however, the warm welcoming atmosphere helps overcome that. The staff are friendly and approachable which helps dealing with problems as they occur. Cherry Holt have put on family days and activities which gives the opportunity for all to be included in the life of the home. Visiting times are flexible and it is not an issue at any time of day to pop in and see Dad.

I commenced employment at Cherry Holt in December 2017 as the very first Deputy Manager, a role I am very passionate about.

Prior to working here, I started my journey in Healthcare in August 2006, after my 3rd child. After 2 weeks of working as a carer in the Community, I realised this was my calling in life. 2 years later I became a senior carer, working in a Care Home. After completing my NVQ Levels 2 & 3, I applied to work as a Healthcare Worker for Nottinghamshire Healthcare, for the Twilight District Nursing Service. Whilst working within the NHS, I gained experience by working in the Rapid Response Team, swiftly being promoted as part of the Care Home training pilot to reduce pressure ulcers, as an Assistant Practitioner.

I co-wrote React To Red/Moisture within 6 years of being part of the team and gained an Award of the Unsung Hero for Clinical Setting in 2016.

I was approached in 2017 after I had gained my Foundation Degree to join the Cherry Holt team. It was a difficult decision to make initially, due to the success of my Care Home work, however, this role has taught me so much, and what a true family feeling it is to work at Cherry Holt.

I look forward to seeing the home grow from strength to strength under Knights Care.

Denise AllenJob Title:ReceptionistJoined: 1998

I started working at Cherry Holt on the 29th of December 1998 in the Laundry working only three days a week, part-time due to having an 8-year-old son. After a couple of years, I added another day to that and worked four days a week. During this time, I also helped out in the kitchen doing teas mainly and also helped out on the morning shifts too, so after a few months I then took on a full-time varied role. Following Knights Care's takeover, I was offered a new position of front-of-house receptionist in November 2022 which I gladly said yes to.

Out of work, I enjoy Family holidays abroad, family meals out, reading, cinema, going out with friends socializing.
