Really caring and friendly staff who assist with eating and encourage appetite by
providing blended and soft foods, and beakers with lids so that clients can drink safely. The staff know the client's requirements and assist her cheerfully and using her name.
The room is kept clean & tidy, and temperature
controlled as much as possible. The bed-bound client has a comfortable adjustable bed with matting to ensure she doesn't fall out or try to get out.
Staff very understanding of the client's physical and mental state and closely monitor any changes or deterioration.

Thanks to all the staff who helped my relative settle in quickly and always saw to her needs with a smile and a joke. She could make her room feel like home, which helped her a great deal. We could visit when it was convenient for us and we were also made very welcome by the staff. Health needs were
always discussed fully with the nursing staff giving us peace of mind, for which we were very grateful.

My father was only at Astley Grange for just over two weeks for end-of-life care. The staff are a wonderful caring bunch and everywhere is spotlessly clean. I was dreading him having to go into a home but I really couldn't have wished for him to be in a nicer place. I would very much like to thank everyone
involved in his care.

My mum-in-law went into Astley Grange for respite care while we went on holiday. We had chosen carefully but still were anxious on leaving her. Our anxieties were totally unnecessary. We kept in contact with the home while we were away and the staff were more than happy to tell us how she was doing
(sadly she didn't win at Bingo!). It was a pleasure to observe how happy and settled she was when I went to collect her. She had a 'wonderful time' and was 'very happy'. All the staff were 'excellent' and she enjoyed the meals and the entertainment. She has given us permission to go on holiday again, providing she can return to Astley Grange! We all can highly recommend Astley Grange.

My husband was only in Astley Grange for a short while, but he got the best of help from all the nurses and staff you could ever want. Everyone was so nice and helpful to me and my family in our sad time. It is a wonderful home, and all are looked after very well.

Outstanding home of the four I'd experienced my mother-in-law being in. The staff were caring and attentive and the place seemed quite "homely". Sadly it was only a short stay as she passed away but I'm pretty certain she'd have enjoyed being here given different circumstances.

Unfortunately, my mum's stay was short due to being very poorly when arriving. However, during her time there my family found all the staff very good and helpful. They helped my mum with dignity and care and always kept me fully informed. I shall always be grateful for what they did for my mum.

What makes this nursing home excellent is the staff. They are professional, genuinely caring, well managed, reliable, very few agency staff required and they all get on and work well together. It is a happy place for residents and staff and consequently, the atmosphere in the home is positive and secure.

In all the 10 months that my father stayed at Astley Grange, it was the perfect home from home. With friendly, helpful, professional staff and lovely residents. My father was happy and settled. Before my father passed away with advanced dementia he needed consistent support and assistance which he received
from the dedicated staff. It is a wonderful home that cares for all residents and their families.

My mother has recently died aged 97 she has been residing at Astley Grange for nearly 6 years. Mum was taken care of extremely well at Astley Grange nursing home, the management and staff were excellent and treated Mum very well. Activities were arranged for all the residents which was lovely as this kept Mum occupied both physically and mentally. I would recommend Astley Grange to anyone looking
for care, understanding, privacy and support in any way. Mum spent her last days here before passing away on the 1st Sep 2020 with staff/management allowing myself and my brother to be by her side throughout of which was extremely important to us.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.359)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.359) out of 10 for Astley Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.659 for Astley Grange is calculated as follows: ( (58 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 82 Ratings = 4.659
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Astley Grange is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
