The care my dad received was excellent, from all the carers and staff. He was very well looked after and he was happy. They made him feel at home and he felt safe. We as a family were very happy, the carers and staff were very friendly and supportive.

My mum has been in Ashbourne care home since July 2024. Due to her illness progressing, mum has good and bad days. On visiting her this afternoon she wasn't feeling to good. The staff were informed and mum couldn't have had better care, she was made comfortable and her pain managed. All the staff involved
in mum's care today have gone above and beyond. Thankyou so much, I felt reassured when leaving mum that she was in good hands and would have the best care.

Today I visited mum and she was in pain with her lower back the staff was excellent in giving her the dignity empathy and understanding she needed. A big thank you too the nurse for everything you do for mum you are very professional and easy to approach, and the two ladies for what you did today
your caring really did shine and put me and my sister at ease, one of the ladies is a young carer who is going to go far in this profession. You were brilliant and your caring was outstanding, you made mum comfortable and it is nice and reassuring to know mum has lovely people caring for her.
Thank you guys you are stars and in a job that can be demanding you the staff make a great team and I wanted it to be recognised with so much negativity in the world today... so great work guys, thank you.
Happy Easter to you all :)

Mum has lived here for over 12 months and enjoys living in the place she sees and talks about as 'home'. She has a lovely relationship with staff and they are very attentive to her needs. Her room is lovely and filled with her own belongings making her space her own.
The only improvement would be
more daytime activities to keep her engaged, otherwise we couldn't ask for more.

My mum became a resident in 2021, the staff were friendly, helpful and very caring. All of her needs were really well catered for, nothing was too much trouble. She was treated with great dignity and compassion throughout her stay. The staff have all of the families thanks for their care.

My husband has been a resident since February 2021. The care he receives is excellent, he is treated with great respect and compassion. The staff are caring and treat him with dignity. The room he is in is clean and comfortable, the meals are nourishing and there are drinks available throughout the
day. Overall, the home is spotlessly clean. I always get a warm welcome and I am able to ring the home when I can't visit. The management of the home is excellent. Overall, the care is great value for money.

My mother was in Ashbourne Care Home for a year. During that time she was very well looked after. She was always clean and tidy whenever I visited. The staff were so friendly, caring and helpful. I was quite happy for Mum to be there, and Mum seemed to be quite satisfied too.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.633)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.633) out of 10 for Ashbourne Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.903 for Ashbourne Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (86 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 93 Ratings = 4.903
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.73 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashbourne Nursing Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 43 registered maximum number of service users is 8.6. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.6 = 0.93
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
