I like this care home. It has a friendly feel about it and the staff are very nice. My mum loves her food and there always seems to be a varied menu on each day. There are some practical things I would change like seating for visitors and the communal spaces are not well thought out. Also, when there
was entertainment on, my mum did not want to join in but the singer took over the whole space and there was no easy way to escape the noise.

My mother-in-law has only been in the Hulton care home 3 weeks, in which time I have found her care has been excellent. She is being well looked after, has plenty of stimulation, and the staff and management are the nicest, gentlest people looking after her.

My wife came to Hulton Care Home in April 2024, from a much more expensive and good nursing home, and there is a noticeable difference. Hulton is better. Having just 28 bedrooms (I think all ensuite), the staff know all the patients intimately and are very kind and thoughtful to them (and to me, a visitor).
I often think there are more staff than necessary! They do things by the book, from constant assistance, walking, eating etc. To calling of doctors and ambulances as required. My wife is in pallative care and naturally I want her to be as comfortable as possible. I'm happy to have got that at Hulton Care Home. I can't fault anything they do and I can't think how anyone could do more to improve her standard of living.

Management and staff are always friendly and willing to discuss any queries. They treat the residents like family. They are always caring and treated with dignity.
The rooms are always clean and tidy and there is plenty of room for the residents to enjoy the daily activities. There is an excellent
variety of good well cooked meals and the residents have access to drinks and snacks at all times. I can't comment on the value for money as my sister's children deal with this.

The care that the staff provide is excellent. They have the right values and are knowledgeable.
The food is varied and caters for a variety of dietary needs.
Having protected meal times allows the residents and staff to have uninterrupted time.
The decor is ok but could be refreshed.

My stepfather has been in Hulton Care Home for approximately 16 months. During his stay, he has been treated with excellent care, consideration and affection by all the staff. He has dementia and is incontinent, but is always treated with consideration and sympathy.
I cannot say how highly I can praise
the staff or how grateful I am for the work they do.

My mum went in for two weeks to see how she felt about the care home and loved it and has now been in for fifteen months. The staff are all loving to my mum. She goes down for all activities and has her nails painted. Coming from a big family we would have never thought Mum would have ended up in a
care home but we feel so at ease that she is being so well looked after.

My mum has received a very high standard of care since becoming a resident, as did my mother-in-law a few years ago.
Management and staff are totally committed to providing the best possible environment for the residents, and their families and friends.
I was conflicted regarding residential care
for my Mum, but the decision to place her at Hulton Care Home has definitely been the right one. Thank you to everyone at Hulton Care Home for ensuring my Mum's well bein,g, safety and happiness.

My mother has recently been admitted to the care home and needs regular care from the staff. This is done with great care and with a cheerful demeanour. They have all ensured that my mother has settled in really well.
Everyone I have spoken to has been very helpful and all know my mother and her current
situation.
She really couldn’t be in better hands.

It is a comfort during this period when visits are not allowed to know how kind and caring the staff at Hulton Care Home are. They arrange for telephone calls between my sister and me very often which is reassuring for us both.

Hard to judge not been allowed visits for 12months. Window visits not suitable. Giving a mobile to a person none verbal just won't work. Access for window visits not suitable for elderly or infirm. Up to lockdown in March 2020 the care was superb.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.933)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.933) out of 10 for Hulton Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.600 for Hulton Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (43 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.6
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.333 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hulton Care Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 6 = 0.833
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
