Burgess Manor Nursing Home is independently owned and has built up its reputation by providing bespoke care, with a strong focus on kindness and personal happiness.

The home benefits from a pleasant location, with views of the neighbouring golf course and the seaside town of Southport just a short distance away.

An active lifestyle, alongside professional care, is supported and the friendly team is experienced in many disabilities and also dementia care.

The home itself is on two levels with each level consisting of a small garden/patio area where barbecues are often held during the summer months, or where residents can simply sit and enjoy the peace and quiet, and rolling views of the golf greens.

For those residents who enjoy getting out and about, there are two minibuses available for all their needs.

After Covid, my brother became seriously unwell with long-term medical needs and he was finally given the gift of a new home at Burgess Manor Care Home.
There are not enough words to say how truly grateful we are to the warm welcome, patience, acceptance and professional approach everyone shows. Thank
you from the bottom of all our hearts for all that you do each and every day.

Overall, the experience is generally satisfactory, although my sister has highlighted that staffing levels have been below the level expected for the nursing wing. There are no issues with the staff, but due to the levels they are struggling to cope with residents' needs fully. Since the change from
food being made on-site to the pre-prepared meals, this has been a backward step. All the staff who deal with my sister are always pleasant and she gets on well with them.

We have been so pleased with the standard and level of care you have shown my stepfather. We are particularly grateful of the way in which he is encouraged to engage in activities and trips away from the unit. He always appears clean and content in his surroundings which has helped him to settle and
adjust so quickly. Thank you to all the staff.

When my dad came out of hospital he was a high-risk case due to his anxiety and outburst being in Burgess Manor with excellent staff and care I have my dad back again. He is settled, content and happy to go with the staff after visits which is a high comfort to me. We are also delighted with the home
visits which means he gets to come home and spend quality time before returning to the care home - highly recommend!

As a family, we have been very pleased with the treatment and care of our mother, but her bedroom is very 'tired'. We have requested a few times that the sink unit needs repairing but it is still falling apart. But we are very pleased with the unfailing care that our mother has received and feel that
this is the most important fact. She is always clean and neat when we visit regardless of time of day.
Reply from Joanne Willis, HR Officer at Burgess Manor Care Home

Thank you for your review. We will look into the issue with the sink. Kind regards

Current Review Score: 8.2 (8.202)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.2 (8.202) out of 10 for Burgess Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.8 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.450 for Burgess Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (39 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.45
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.752 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Burgess Manor Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 53 registered maximum number of service users is 10.6. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.6 = 0.377
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
