My friend has lived at Clumber House for 3years the care received is good there has been lots of staff and management changes in this time but at present there is more stability however there is not an activities co ordinator in the home this I feel impacts on stimulation and interaction for my friend
, beside the care duties of All staff it would be good for staff to spend time with residents over all the care and attention is good at Clumber house
Reply from KATRINA DARBYSHIRE, MANAGER at Clumber House Care HomeThank you for your review, you will be glad to hear we now have 1 activities coordinator on board and are actively employing another so we will see a vast improvement in our activities program. We are glad your friend is doing well at clumber house.

My husband has been a resident of Clumber House, since August 2024, he suffered a stroke initially, and was then admitted to Clumber House.
Staff have been welcoming, warm and attentive, and have looked after my husband to the best of their ability.
He has been cared for well, and I am kept up to
date regarding any problems.

My dad is a very awkward person (due of course to his alzheimers/dementia) but the staff are unfailingly kind and patient. I ring every week and staff often try to get my dad to speak with me, the success/failure of this all depends on whether he is willing to speak. Obviously he has some days & some
hours better than others.

Not outwardly posh in appearance but clean, tidy and functional rooms and common areas.
Staff are fully competent, very helpful and cheerful about their jobs.
As a regular visitor I like to know the names of staff. Often they seem to forget to wear their name badges! I have been asking for a gallery
on view with names against photos.

No bad experience regarding mum. When coming to take mum out for the night or evening I always ring first to say when and what day so its easier for staff to get her ready and her tablets ready and sometimes they are not ready and we can be there for an hour to relieve them.

Mum was admitted to Clumber House a few weeks ago and was welcomed from the start. Alongside mum, I feel I have been welcomed by all staff and made to feel included. It is nice to hear feedback from staff about mum. Staff have taken on board my knowledge of mum's needs e.g. ground food etc and are warm
and attentive to mum. They have also got a good sense of fun, which is important to me & mum.
Reply from Jack Pollard, Administrative Sales & Marketing Support at Clumber House Care HomeThank you Hev for your comments about your experiences at Clumber House Care Home. Our residents' wellbeing is our main priority and it is great to hear that you were so pleased with the quality of our care. All of our staff are committed to providing the best possible care experience for all of our residents and it is very rewarding to have their efforts recognised, whilst still enjoying themselves and looking after your Mum. Have a great day!

Prior to the new management being in charge of this home I was horrified with the home and was trying to get Mum moved as soon as possible. I am now seeing an improvement, the atmosphere in the home has very much improved. The decor is improving all the time. The staff understands lots of training and
implementation the learning. There are still some users to address but if things continue to improve at the current rate I think this home could get an outstanding review from CQC.
Reply from Honor Keatley, Managing Director at Clumber House Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to write such a positive review. It's great to read that the progress being made is having a positive impact. I'm sure you will continue to see positive changes moving forward.

My Father has been a resident since August 2023 and has been cared for well. In recent months he had required physio and help getting to and from appointments at different hospitals which has all been handled well. He enjoys his meals, the care given to him by the staff, and his regular chats with the
Nursing Home manager. He feels heard, safe, and well looked after. My brother and I feel fortunate to have our Father so happy and well cared for. Thank you.

An absolutely wonderful nursing home. My mum spent the last four weeks of her life at Clumber House Nursing Home. She was so well taken care of, Mum was instantly happy there and welcomed with open arms. The staff are all exceptional. I spent many hours with Mum and made to feel at home, nothing was
too much trouble. The home is spotlessly clean.

I have found the care of my partner sometime very good and other times not good. Some of the staff (carers) are excellent while others are not. Finding your loved one wet through and distressed is upsetting, however, this has been resolved now by getting proper incontinence pads and I think more staff
and equipment. The garden and grounds of the nursing home are very poor and difficult to get a wheelchair around.
Reply from Kirstie Biggar, Deputy Manager at Clumber House Care HomeThankyou for taking the time to review our service. We are glad the issues have been resolved in regards to the continence products. As you are aware continence products are prescribed on an individual basis and when this needed reviewing, when needs change, there was a significant delay in getting a new prescription of products. Additional products were purchased by the home in the meantime.
There is an ongoing refurbishment programme of the home, including the garden and grounds.
If you have any concerns please do not hesitate to speak to our management team, we have an open door policy

As the wife of the resident, I find the facilities provided are very good.
The food is excellent and the staff are helpful and pleasant.
I would like there to be more time given to exercise and brain stimulation.
Reply from Kirstie Biggar, Deputy Manager at Clumber House Care HomeThank you for taking the time to review our service. We welcome any feedback that we can use to improve our service. We have noticed that you mainly visit at mealtimes, and therefore miss out on the activities that take place during the day. We have an extensive activity programme, including exercise classes which most service users enjoy taking part in. Mental stimulation is very important and we endeavour to provide this to our service users on a daily basis. If you would like to speak with our very dedicated activity coordinator, you are very welcome. We are always looking at ensuring our service continues to develop and appreciate any suggestions.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.190)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.190) out of 10 for Clumber House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 14 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.340 for Clumber House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (77 Excellents x 5) + (64 Goods x 4) + (20 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 162 Ratings = 4.34
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Clumber House Care Home is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 41 registered maximum number of service users is 8.2, which has been reached with 14 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
