Woodlands Care Centre is a small nursing home which offers a homely atmosphere providing dignified and compassionate residential, dementia, nursing and palliative care. Woodlands has a team of highly skilled nurses and care staff trained to care for a variety of health conditions including Dementia, Alzheimer's, Multiple Sclerosis, cancer and Parkinson's. The team ensures that Woodlands is a happy, welcoming and homely environment for all residents, their family and friends.

Day space comprises 2 lounges in addition to a brand new conservatory / dining room in November 2023 overlooking a mature garden with wheelchair-accessible patio and lawns.

The building has great character, built as a private residence in 1880, which became a care home in 1984. Bedrooms are large single rooms (couples can be catered for in the largest rooms), many with en-suite facilities, located on two floors with a passenger lift between. Bedrooms can be personalised with favourite furniture pieces, pictures and ornaments from home.

With home cooked food cooked on the premises, special diets can be catered for. A varied daily menu is designed to provide choices that enhance the health and wellbeing of residents.

Residents enjoy a varied activities programme, tailor-made, with games, quizzes, dining experiences and holistic therapies. They have their own in-house hairdresser.

The Woodlands philosophy is targeted at providing a safe and friendly 'home from home' environment whilst offering the highest standards of nursing and personal care aimed at fulfilling the golden years of their residents.

My sister had been living with myself and my husband, but as her dementia progressed, I knew she needed nursing care. I couldn't have found a better place. She has settled in well and is well looked after. The staff go above and beyond, are so helpful and kind. It is great to see how she interacts with
the staff. It's a lovely place.

My father was admitted to Woodlands in January 2018. Since then, the care he has received has been first class. Throughout the pandemic, we have been kept informed about all conditions at Woodlands. Today was my father's 99th birthday and my mother and I had an appointment to visit my father. This was
the first time we had seen my father for many months, due to Covid restrictions. The staff had made a real effort for my father, although he is bedridden and the care and respect that he and my mother and I were shown was first class. As usual, my father was neatly dressed and the care home was spotlessly clean.

I visited Woodlands on a daily basis for 2.5 years and found staff very caring and helpful, at all times. The residents were always well-dressed and well-cared for. If there were any problems, the staff were always very helpful.

My Mother has been a resident for several years and suffers from anxiety-related problems. She is approaching her 91st birthday and has always been happy living at Woodlands. I have witnessed first-hand how good the staff are with my Mum and they take time to speak with her and help her in every way
possible. My Mum gets on well with all the staff and knows everybody by name. My sister and I are very pleased with her care and it has been a great comfort that we don’t have to worry, knowing that she is well looked after.

My Grandmother has been a resident for just under two years. I was initially worried about her settling in at Woodlands, as she was quite a shy person but everyone has made her feel so welcome and accommodating, encouraging her to join in with activities and join them for meals or in the dayroom to
watch TV or play bingo. The care and compassion shown by the staff before (but especially during the pandemic) left me feeling that my grandmother was in safe hands. Each resident is treated individually and each need is cared for. Woodlands is amazing at communication. The management team, as well as the care staff, make you feel welcome when you visit (or update you over the phone) and you feel like your relative is their priority. Thank you.

Woodlands Care Centre has provided my mother with an excellent social and caring environment. They respect and work with the family. In the communal areas, there is a buzz of activity and conversation. Very important for a social person like my mother. My mother's room is bright and attractive and we
were able to furnish it from home as much as we wished. The walls are covered with her paintings and photographs. The staff are kind, gentle and respectful. Family visitors get to know them. When my mother was eventually needing end-of-life care, the staff included me in their experience when I visited, making this a journey we did together. At one very significant moment, two staff members came and sat with me and my mother for a peaceful and quiet time together, which I found very moving. Management actively review their care protocols to ensure that they support the best outcome in all scenarios. I highly recommend this home.

My mum was treated with dignity and respect during her nine-month stay at Woodlands. She got on extremely well with all of the staff and since returning home, has not stopped talking about how much she misses them. Communication from the home was also excellent, which is something of great importance,
given the difficult period we have all been going through. I have no problem recommending Woodlands Care Centre and would like to personally thank the staff for their tireless work.

The whole staff were so professional, caring and compassionate throughout my mum's time at the Woodlands. Mum's face used to light up and she smiled when she saw the staff which says it all. They were like family not only to mum but to us, her family as well. When mum passed away at the beginning of
lockdown their empathy continued and does so to this day. If I ever need to go into a nursing home there is no other place I would be. Thank you.

Mum-in-law was transferred to Woodlands after a fall and lengthy stay in hospital. She was in a very frail state when she arrived and consequently due to her limited mobility, required nursing care. All of the staff at Woodlands treated Mum-in-law with a level of care which really exceeded our expectations,
and was always treated with the utmost dignity and respect. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble and also as a visitor I was always made to feel very welcome. I would have no hesitation in recommending Woodlands to anyone in the future.

On my first visit to the Woodlands, I was impressed by the clean fresh atmosphere and the warmth of the welcoming staff. My mum settled in very quickly and soon bonded with her new "staff family" who looked after her so well. The staff work very hard to cater to the individual needs of the residents.
Mum spent several happy years until she sadly passed away. During her last days, she was treated with dignity and loving care. I would recommend this very special care home to anyone and hope to keep in touch. I can't thank them enough!

Woodlands Care Centre have provided excellent care to my 98-year-old father for the last 2 years. As I live in Australia it is reasurring to me to knw that he is well cared for. Many residential facilities advocate their practices of individualised 'patient' care but not all demonstrate personhood.
During the last few weeks when Pa has required further person centred interventions I have no doubt that he is receiving exceptional physical and emotional care from all staff members who complement their amazing skills set with an appropriate sense of humour and terrific teamwork.
Thank you for caring for my father, providing me with timely and detailed feedback on his condition, for greeting me by name and recognising that the time difference means I may not always telephone at the most convenient times.
As a previous health care professional I am somewhat selective in my endorsements, however I have no qualms or hesitation in recommending Woodlands Care Centre.

I made an initial unannounced visit and was greeted very professionally and left with a very positive feeling about the care provided at this home. In the time my mother has been there, she has been treated with the utmost dignity and a level of care that has totally surpassed my expectations.
All
of the staff are simply wonderful. Relatives and visitors are always made to feel very welcome by both staff and management, and nothing seems to be too much trouble.
The home is very well equipped to provide the level of nursing care my mother requires. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Woodlands Care Centre to anyone, requiring a caring environment for their relative.

On my initial and unannounced visit, Woodlands staff were warm and inviting. My first impression was very positive. I met the staff who were kind, organised and caring. I could see by the way they were with other residents - chatting to them and encouraging fluids. My husband was profoundly deaf but
the staff were encouraging and prompting conversation when he had his hearing aid. I noticed there is hearing aid training for the staff which was so important. The nursing was second to none.

My sister spent over 3 years at Woodlands. It is a lovely family home, cannot find anything wrong with this home, the staff are lovely, helpfull, caring and work hard, the gardens are lovely. We have been met with total kindness and understanding since my mother entered this nursing home.

My grandmother is very well looked after, there is a marked difference than her previous home. The staff are always very friendly and the staff has a good response to them. I feel she is well cared for, and as well as she can be.

My Mother has lived in Woodlands Care Centre for almost two and a half years.
She has received very good quality care and has been happy and she feels secure.
The food offered to her is catered for my Mother's needs as she requires help with feeding.
She recently enjoyed her 94th birthday with all
her family visiting her.
She was very happy last week when I went to see her.
