My mum was in Moor Park House for a few months this year after a second stroke, she needed a nursing home, not a care home she had been in for several years. At first appearance, it looks very nice, but I quickly realised it wasn’t the right place for my mum. They deal with a lot of complex needs, my mum although needed a lot of help it wasn’t complex. I didn’t like the fact mum had all meals in her room on her own, wasn’t what mum needed, no lounge with people to chat to. Just 2 empty lounges on the ground floor. When I rang it was usually agency staff who didn’t know my mum. One time I was told they had sent samples so were barrier nursing but a few days later no one knew anything about it. Moved my mum to another nursing home that met her needs, unfortunately, I lost my mum in August and I just wish I had moved mum there straight from the hospital.

Reply from Susan Coyne, Home Administrator at Moor Park House

Firstly we are very sorry to hear that you lost your mum in August. As regards to the review of the home we would like to add that at the time your mum came to us we were relatively full therefore the range of rooms we were able to offer was limited. Your mum was placed on a unit which at the time...

Sometimes the food is not satisfactory e.g. hot chicken with cold salad. Sometimes there are definitely not enough staff on duty and call buzzers can be left ringing for a long time unanswered. A lot of residents now have very complex needs and must have two carers. However, the staffing levels have not increased since residents on this floor were mainly able to manage with only one carer. Also, staff are continuously being sent down to help out on the nursing floor when they are short-staffed.

I have found the home to be clean and comfortable. Staff are caring and compassionate and competent to provide my personal and emotional care and support. I cannot praise them enough. I feel safe and well cared for. The food is excellent and varied. I enjoy seeing my visitors at any time I wish. I also enjoy the hydrotherapy pool and physiotherapy - lovely staff.

Reply from Janet Farrington, Manager at Moor Park House

Very friendly staff who really do care. Show great respect and professionalism at all times. Staff have called in on their day off to check on the health of my relative - says more than any CQC review.

Reply from Janet Farrington, Manager at Moor Park House

I have only been resident for just over two weeks and my overall impression is favourable. I am very comfortable. The staff are very kind and helpful but my impression is that they are short staffed and under pressure at busy periods.

The overall care at Moor Park is very good. The majority of staff are lovely, kind and caring. The rooms are pleasant and well appointed. However, there appears (on some days) to not be enough staff on duty and there are a lot of residents who need hoisting etc and as this takes two members of staff, there is not always enough time for other residents' needs. The food is usually fine but not always. Some staff are lovely and we are grateful to them.

All the staff who are looking after my uncle have been absolutely wonderful and give person-centred care. The RGN is a credit to the company who own the home, if only all nurses could have the caring and person-centred attitude she has, then the world would be a better place.

Thank you to everybody for looking after my dear uncle.

The home is extremely aesthetically pleasing and the meals are really good, they have a pool but the residents have to pay extra to use it.
The staffing levels are quite low and they use a lot of Agency Staff.

The Activity Lady they employed at the weekend was excellent, but as far as I am aware she has not been replaced.

The staff make this a great place to stay. They don't allow you to get down with the affliction you have instead I don't think I've had so many laughs, it brings a smile to my face thinking of the people there. Keep up the good work and don't forget to give the two dogs Coco and Eddie their treats.

My uncle was transferred from our local hospital to spend his last days at Moor Park. He was treated with the up most care and dignity in what was a very sad and emotional time for us as a family. We cannot praise he staff enough. Our memories of his last days are very happy.
