Fairwinds supports adults with complex needs, including those with mental health conditions, brain injuries, neuro-disabilities, and physical conditions.

The home is divided into two 10-bed units with shared kitchen dining areas and lounges, helping to create a relaxed and homely atmosphere. In addition to the units, there are communal amenities including an accessible garden, multi-sensory areas, and therapy spaces.

The team at Fairwinds is nurse-led and includes a full multidisciplinary group of therapists, activities coordinators, and support staff. Each person has a bespoke support plan developed in partnership with the resident and their family. These plans are focused on developing strengths, celebrating progress and enabling independence.

Fairwinds is known for its structured yet flexible approach that allows residents to re-engage with the things they enjoy - whether it’s creative projects, gardening, music therapy, or simply having quiet space to relax and reflect.

The home has proudly been rated ‘Outstanding’ with CQC since 2020. Approximately only 5% of adult social care services in England receive the highest rating.

My sister has lived at Fairwinds for over 8 years, in that time she has developed friendships with staff and other residents. We are kept in touch with activities through a regular newsletter, and Fairwinds has recently introduced us to the app so that we can share photos. As a family, we feel safe
with the knowledge that she is treated with respect and that her likes and dislikes are acted upon. All the effort is made for her to have a comfortable and happy life.
Reply from Lauren Hallas, Marketing and Communications Officer at FairwindsThank you for your lovely review of Fairwinds, we're so glad that you and your sister are both happy with the home. We'll be sure to pass your comments on to the team!

Fairwinds are providing excellent care and rehabilitation for my wife. The staff are brilliant and are always there when needed. She loves the food, which is of a consistently high standard. There are regular visits from the physiotherapist and the staff are very invested in the rehabilitation process,
which is really assuring for all the family. The management team are very friendly and makes every effort to ensure everything is in place for my wife’s care.

I firstly just want to say a massive thank you to all the staff that work at Fairwinds, you are all amazing and I'm so great full for everything you do, special for my uncle and all the other residents. I know you all work super hard and all your best for my uncle and the rest of the patients. I would
all so like to say a huge thank you to the staff for the other day when we took my uncle to the cinema, that was and is the highlight of the year if not years for me. My life is his, he's my everything and always will be, and finally would love to thank the admin workers, for the hard amazing work you do for all the staff and patients and for letting me have the best day in years I've had with him. When we went to the cinema that will be with me forever now. Ps. all my love and respect I have for all of you will be with me forever.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.187)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.187) out of 10 for Fairwinds is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.979 for Fairwinds is calculated as follows: ( (47 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.979
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.208 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Fairwinds is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 4.8 = 0.833
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
