Since the new 2 managers have come the place has gone totally downhill. Still don't know if they are male or female. Damian n Amy.
Clothes have been going missing regularly, and and short medication has been given numerous times Reported this to management, no action has been taken. Recently, and last night highlighted further issues with staff.
The nurse left my tablets on the table again without watching me take them. I receive £3700 funding here but haven't eaten from here in over 2 years. I tried getting dairy-free snacks, but Damian stopped it. I don't think my funding is enough.

I booked the minibus for Eid prayers, but MichelleQueen Latifa overbooked me. She said talk to management to sort taxi arrangements, but it's hard to get a taxi on Eid. Tried on Eid no joy. Deputy Claire said she can book taxis weeks in advance seems 2 have been sleeping just like when she did her spot check at 4am walking past lounge without noticing night staff sleeping. I visited Willowbeck earlier this month with my husband and mother. This was our first time visiting since my sister (who has memory loss) became a resident there, and we had overall a positive experience. As we do not live in England, our previous experience of the home was only through phone calls, and in that regard we found the staff to be friendly and helpful.

On visiting, we found the same to be true. The staff that we met were helpful and communicative, answering all of our questions to the best of their ability. Some showed a keen interest to find out more about my sister from us - her interests, concerns, and the people in her life - so as to understand her current needs better. This was particularly true for the nurses and activities coordinator, and it gave us a positive feeling about her future care.

My partner initially went for a respite week in March but eventually stayed for 9 weeks following assessment for permanent care.
During his stay he was cared for really well. All the staff were lovely and looked after him just as I'd hoped, not just his physical needs but providing lots of activities. My partner really enjoyed mealtimes and the meals I saw were varied and appetising. We were welcome to visit as we wished, encouraged to join in with activities when appropriate and treated with kindness by the friendly staff.

Our experience was very positive and I'd be happy to return to Willowbeck if we needed to.

Extremely pleased with the care my husband receives at Willowbeck. Friends and visitors are welcomed and encouraged to take part in events provided by the activity programme staff. The food has been good although recently my husband complains that it was very 'samey'. I personally find the staff very supportive and informative. The activities provided have been stimulating and entertaining with regular trips out. The environment is perhaps clinical but clean and practical.

Overall Experience
Since my son has moved units, he had deteriorated rapidly from June 2024 to present December 2024.
He suffered a fractured femur and was left for over 8 hours until a care staff raised a concern at which point he was admitted to hospital. The consultant stated she had not seen a complicated fracture as bad, so before surgery my son had to be put on traction to straighten his leg. Following a long stay in hospital and a diagnosis of cancer, and given assurances that my son would receive the care he needed, we allowed him to go back to Willowbeck.

From then and up to now my son has rapidly deteriorated, his hygiene needs are not met. He is not eating and the food offered level 6 resembles slop. We wouldn't give it to my dog. The staff not aware very recently until I expressed concerns that he had a chest infection. Staff not engaging with him but sat 10 feet away on mobile phones. Staff turnover is bad.

My brother has been in Willowbeck since March 2023 and I personally feel this is the best place to care for his complex needs. Initially, he was in a different unit but it was too noisy and the manager acknowledged this and thought it was best if he moved to a different unit which we were happy about. Torside has a friendly, caring and supportive team. My brother is always presentable and his personal care is taken care of. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and I now feel happy and reassured as the unit manager/nurse and her team keep me in the loop with regular updates. All the staff are approachable from stepping inside the home and being greeted by friendly reception/admin staff to having meetings with managers and everyone else in between. He enjoys taking part with the activities team, they're a lovely, warm and friendly group of people and he loves having banter with them. Everyone always makes an effort to speak to him and make me feel welcome. Thank you.

I am very disappointed with this care home. I have been through numerous incidents whilst a resident at Willowbeck. I have had money stolen, and I have been bullied by the staff. My medication has been given to me late (3 hours +) on several occasions. I was on a social media call with my sister when I had a seizure, my sister had to call Willowbeck to help but nobody picked up the phone therefore had to phone an ambulance.

This is an amazing place. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a care home for a loved one. The premises are bright and kept exceptionally clean. The staff are well trained and courteous, and nothing is too much trouble for them. Residents are treated with the utmost respect and dignity. Everyone greets you with a smile, and you are always made to feel welcome. Well done. I am very pleased we chose this place.

My husband was made very welcome even though he initially displayed very difficult behaviours. The care and understanding he was shown enabled him to settle very quickly. Since then, staff have worked hard to meet all his needs so that my husband feels safe and well cared for. Throughout the last 5 months, I have had no complaints, but I have found support and understanding from everyone I have met at Willowbeck.

After too many ‘failed placements’ it was extremely reassuring to find this home. As a result of the ‘failed placements’ we knew exactly what care was needed and we have been given all, we asked for and more. When we asked we were given without any proviso, and that has been so very encouraging and refreshing. The nursing care is second to none and as that is what is keeping this client alive, we can hardly ask for more. The carers are also of an exceedingly high standard which is essential for the quality of life for this client. All staff appear to always put the client's needs first. We cannot praise the physiotherapy team highly enough. Under very difficult circumstances, (though we believe this is to improve this year with a new larger better-equipped room) they have performed excellent therapy for this client and as a result, we are absolutely over the moon with the recovery we are seeing. Hoping for more sessions per week to continue this progress. May it continue to improve.

Outstanding care home. All of the staff are friendly and highly skilled and go above and beyond for the residents in their care. There is a great range of activities, and we are always made aware of any events happening in advance. Everyone has gone out of their way to make us feel welcome, from the reception staff, nurses, carers, physio and management to the activities team. I would highly recommend.

Overall, the care is very good.
The room is a little dated and there is not enough opportunity to travel out for shopping trips.
The food seems to be very good, staff are generally excellent!

No concerns.

This is a very good home, the staff are friendly and helpful. There is nothing you can't ask for, they have done their best to help. I wake up smiling and the management is very easy to talk to. It is a very warm home, the food is great and they have a lot of activities so that you are busy. Physiotherapy is great for you to reach your goal. At first, I was worried about going to a home but I chose here and I was welcomed with a friendly smile. I hope that I never leave, it is a really great home and everyone even the residents are very friendly. I could never find a better home with the same care.

My wife has been at Willowbeck since 2014, she has moved to the appropriate unit as her condition has worsened, the care she has had in all units has been excellent, the nursing and caring staff are professional and caring. They have also helped me, ensuring that my visits to my wife are the best they can be in sometimes difficult circumstances.

My partner was accommodated here after leaving the spinal unit. He is paraplegic. The room is small, which is my only complaint but is bright, clean, homely and cheerful. The staff make the place. They are so caring, compassionate, kind and helpful. Unfailingly some are full of humour and chat. The food he likes mainly, and he is fed and well cared for. I have peace of mind.

Our experience has always been positive. We find the staff to be hardworking and caring. Nothing is too much trouble. We have noticed that staff, at times, go above and beyond what we expect.
