Staveley Birk Leas Nursing Home

When looking for a nursing home we found it very difficult to find the right one knowing we were placing my sister into the care of others. We then found Staveley Birkleas. My sister was extremely happy with the care and support of the nursing home. She went on outings. She did craft work, which she thoroughly enjoyed but more importantly she built friendships with the residents and staff. We never had to worry about the transport my sister needed as it was always booked through the home and a member of staff was always with her. My sister was very happy with the food with a choice of 3 meals a day. We could also have our meals prepared if we needed to sit with her at meal times. The food was amazing. Care and support was outstanding from the management team, nursing team and the domestic team. The person in charge of the entertainment was also fantastic, organising board games through to trips to the coast etc. My sister died peacefully surrounding by the team at Birkleas.

I have lived at Staveley for 10 years I love living here and recently had the opportunity to go to Edinburgh to see the military tattoo this trip has been on my "wish list" for a long time. I had the best weekend and can't thank the staff enough who gave up there time to take me and some of the other residents that I live with. I am already planning my trip in 2026 to go on a cruise where the staff in the home will support me to full fill another of my dreams

I am so pleased my friend's daughter found this home. It is an excellent match for her, and she is looked after so well. It's a beautiful property, well arranged, and the staff are all attentive and warm and pleasant. And the activities are just excellent and give the residents so much fun - she may be unable to remember going out dancing the night before, but she doesn't forget the happiness and fun. It's a lovely community. She feels happy and safe.

My daughter has lived at Staveley Birkleas for almost a year. I am really pleased with the care that she receives. All staff, (carers, cooks, cleaners, managers, ancillary staff, even the maintenance man) have taken the time to get to know her as an individual. They are her friends and they have built fun and loving relationships with her. She is treated with respect and dignity at all times. Her days are tailored to her own personal needs and interests. Our family are encouraged to be involved in her care plan, and any niggles that crop up are always quickly sorted out. We always feel welcome and listened to.

Very friendly place and staff. My daughter lives here and nothing is too much trouble, she got married recently and they did her makeup and hair for her and also did the catering and organised entertainment, other places wouldn't go to so much effort.

The home itself is in beautiful surroundings and very peaceful and calming, which I have found to aid recovery.

I have been here since May 2021, and I absolutely love Stavley Birk Leas Nursing Home. They have helped me so much with physical therapy and keeping me well and out of the hospital. They cater for all my needs, they are brilliant people, and they are so welcoming to my visitors. I can’t imagine being anywhere else.

Could not wish for a better place, it is ideal for my brother and he seems very happy here.

I am really impressed by the staff and standards at this nursing home. Staff are really caring and involved, not only for show when visiting but 24/7.
