Thornhill Nursing Home provides round-the-clock care in a homely environment, taking on all aspects of health and security concerns, including hygiene, nutrition and lifestyle.

Carers offer residents and their families the support they need during what many find some of the most trying times of their lives. Families are truly grateful for the personal support they receive, when faced with one of life's very difficult decisions and the team pride themselves on continuing that support to residents and their families from the moment they contact the home throughout the whole of their stay and beyond.

The approach to care is simple - look after the person and not the ailment/condition alone - Carers want to get to know their residents and their families, thus enabling them to look after the whole person and not just to concentrate on the task in hand. Staff get to know their clients, who they are, who they were and how they have come to be at the home.

My experience so far has been pleasant. The staff are always helpful and polite and just overall welcoming. Every time I visit my grandma, she looks clean and comfortable. I am happy with her care so far and feel a little at ease knowing the staff I have come across are nice.

My dad spent the last 11 months of his life at Thornhill Nursing Home.
The care that he received was excellent. Because of his illness, he wasn’t the easiest resident to deal with, but the staff were able to manage the situation with compassion and respect. We will be forever grateful to them for their
professionalism and understanding.
The home itself is Olde Worlde, full of character and charm, and the cleanliness and spaciousness add to its appeal.
The food was always a delight and readily consumed. Good on quality and quantity.
My dad could not have been better cared for towards the end of his life. Many thanks to all the carers, they all made a huge difference, both to us and my dad.

My mother-in-law was cared for and treated with the greatest of dignity, care and compassion during her short stay, by each and every one of the staff.
At a very difficult time, it was comforting to know that the care she was given helped us greatly until she sadly passed away.

and support given to us the relatives was very much appreciated.

The first room I was shown to had very old fashioned furniture and appeared dingy. It (no. 24) needs refurbishing. I was offered next door, with much better furniture and pleasant. Staff were mainly pleasant and all fulfilled all requests (except for one v unpleasant kitchen employee who was cross
when I expected my tea and toast to come sooner than 1 1/4 hours after I had ordered it. This was immediately remedied when I spoke to a senior carer about it). Overall the facilities and service are good, except that when one buzzes for help it is quite often a long time before anyone comes (15 minutes not unexceptional) and take-over times (morning and evening) there often seems to be no help available for 30 minutes.

When my wife arrived here she was in the grip of a delirium but the staff gradually got her out of it with kindness and she is now fully rational and back to her old self.

The staff are very good and work extremely hard to ensure my father has the best possible care. My only concern is there are not enough cleaners employed and the level of cleaning is poor.
