My nephew Adam is 61, he suffers from mental and physical disabilities which are not severe. He relocated to Ashfield Care Home Wetherby almost 6 months ago, I wasn't sure how is transition would affect him, but I shouldn't have worried because the Ashfield care team have been fantastic.
Adam is very
comfortable in his new surroundings and found a corner in one of the two lounges to call his own. He absolutely loves the food and the great choices available, he either eats at his seat or in the dining room.
Ashfield have a fantastic "care portal" which enables me to view the various parts of Adam's day, and night activities, with reports on how he spends his day whilst downstairs, and also the number of times he is checked on at night whilst he is sleeping. This service is very reassuring and gives me a daily update on Adam's activities, with positives and negatives.
Adam loves being at Ashfield, and I am delighted that we were able to move him there. I would definitely recommend it
Reply from Sean Dawson, Business Manager at Ashfield Nursing & Residential HomeThank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're delighted to hear that Adam has settled in so well and is enjoying life at Ashfield.

Moving to a new home can be a big change, so it's wonderful to know that our team helped make the transition as smooth and comfortable as possible. It's lovely to hear that Adam has found his favourite spot in the lounge and is enjoying the meals and variety of choices available each day.

We're also pleased that the Care Portal has given you reassurance and helped you stay connected with Adam's daily life and wellbeing. We know how important it is for families to feel informed and involved.

Thank you for your kind words and recommendation. It means a great deal to our team to know that Adam is happy here and that you feel confident in the care and support he receives.

The first time I walked into Ashfield in 2022 I felt this was the place where I could leave mum safely after a previous bad experience elsewhere. You need to look behind the actual building to the care and compassion of all the staff towards not only the residents but the family as well. I used the
respite service thereafter several times until her needs became more than I could manage at home and she moved in full time.
Sadly that stay was briefer than anticipated but she was cared for with love, compassion and dignity to the end, many of the staff having known her since her first visit in 2022.
I can honestly say I felt every time I left her in Ashfield I knew she was safe and I didn't have to worry about her.
The staff always involved me in any decisions about her care and when I was deciding about her care in the latter stages they understood my feelings and gave me support and a hug when needed.
I would recommend Ashfield to anyone looking for either respite or long term care.
Reply from Sean Dawson, Business Manager at Ashfield Nursing & Residential HomeThank you for sharing such a heartfelt review. It means so much to us that from your very first visit, you felt Ashfield was a place where your mum would be safe, cared for and treated with dignity.

Thank you for your kind words about our staff. Supporting families through difficult decisions and challenging times is a responsibility we take very seriously, and we are glad that you felt listened to, involved and supported when you needed it most.

We are grateful for the trust you placed in us to care for your mum, and for your recommendation of Ashfield to others looking for respite or long-term care.

My husband spent several months at Ashfield as his health declined. The staff treated him as family and welcomed us at all times. The staff were very helpful and kind. My husband enjoyed sitting in the garden when he was able to but also the peace of his own room when he preferred that. We were well
supported as a family and would recommend Ashfield as a caring and considerate place to be.
Reply from Sean Dawson, Business Manager at Ashfield Nursing & Residential HomeThank you so much for your lovely review. We are really glad that your husband felt comfortable and cared for during his time at Ashfield, and that you and your family felt welcomed and supported too.

It is lovely to hear that he enjoyed spending time in the garden when he was able to, as well as having the peace and comfort of his own room when he preferred some quiet time.

Your kind words about our staff mean a lot to us. Thank you again for your recommendation and for trusting us to care for your husband.

I cannot thank Ashfield Care Home enough for the exceptional care my mum received during her two-week stay for respite. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make her feel comfortable and well-cared for. Every single member of the team was friendly, compassionate, and genuinely
dedicated to providing the best care possible.
The attention to detail was remarkable - my mum was treated with dignity, respect, and kindness at all times. The staff took the time to understand her individual needs and tailored her care accordingly. I always felt reassured knowing she was in such capable hands.
What truly stood out was the genuine warmth and attentiveness of the team. They didn't just meet her needs - they anticipated them. Whether it was making sure she had everything she needed or simply offering a friendly chat to brighten her day, the staff went the extra mile every time.
I would 100% recommend Ashfield Care Home to anyone in need of respite care. The service
Reply from Sean Dawson, Operations Director at Ashfield Nursing & Residential HomeI've passed this onto the team who were chuffed to hear how well their service was received. It's amazing to hear that no matter how long our residents are with us for, our team still makes the effort to learn who they are and what they need to feel at home. Thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback, it's words like these that fuel our continued commitment to caring for the elderly in our community.

After a long hospital stay our Mum was needing more care that we couldn't provide in her own home. We knew Ashfield was the place we wanted Mum to go to and luckily they had a room available. After an initial visit we knew right away that it was for Mum.
The homely and welcoming feel was perfect.
Every single member of staff went out of their way to make Mum's stay as comfortable as possible. It felt like home.
Unfortunately Mum only had a short stay but, in her final hours, the whole process was tentatively dealt with. We were well supported and guided through to the end. We cannot praise them enough for helping us throughout. Amazing isn't a big enough word to use to describe this wonderful place but it is AMAZING. Thank you Ashfield

"We're not posh but we're a home!" This was the comment from one of the managers that convinced me that Ashfield was the best place for my Mum to live and I never regretted the decision over the seven years she was there. The staff are wonderful, caring, well trained and make great effort to get to
know all the residents individually and get the best out of them. The food is excellent, the rooms are warm and comfortable, and there is a wide range of activities arranged for the residents to keep them stimulated. Medical care is meticulously managed and a close but discreet eye kept to ensure welfare. Support and information for family members is also excellent and staff are keen to work with relatives to ensure the best life for the residents. The atmosphere in the place is genuinely one of a large family. Several staff visited my mum in hospital during her final days and the fact that half a dozen of them attended her funeral I thought spoke volumes.
Reply from Sean Dawson, Business Manager at Ashfield Nursing & Residential HomeI think I know exactly who said that to you and I couldn't agree more! We will always prioritise health and well-being before silver spoons. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. It's so wonderful to hear your kind words, I will pass this on to our super team who I'm sure will feel the same way.

The team at Ashfield Nursing and Residential Home came across as very caring in how they interacted with the residents. From caring for their eating and healthcare needs to just having a short conversation with them, so that they felt they were part of a "family". This caring extended to how they supported
the family in providing updates and assistance on their family member so that they always felt they knew how their loved one was. The holistic approach to caring for their residents was clearly demonstrated by their proactive help to the family with dealing with health and financial issues. It made it so much easier to have someone covering your back and giving good advice when dealing with the various outside agencies. Finally when my mother passed their response was one of kindness and care for both the resident and the family. It made my mother's last years comfortable and took away the worries.
Reply from Sean Dawson, Business Manager at Ashfield Nursing & Residential HomeThat was a pleasure to read, I will pass this on to the team who will likely feel the same. Thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review.

I would recommend Ashfield over many of the more expensive care homes you might visit. Some of these places advertise such facilities as cinemas or restaurants. However, at Ashfield, they spend money on care and the quality of their staff. My mother, who suffered from dementia, spent the last three
years of her life at Ashfield and could not have been better looked after. The staff are committed and professional, but most importantly are extremely kind.

I cannot fault in any way my mother's care, from the cleaning staff, entertainment staff, kitchen staff, nursing staff and management, all worked together as a team and genuinely seemed to care about their roles.
On visiting the welcome by all was lovely, just felt like visiting Mum in her own home,
can't be better than that.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.606)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.606) out of 10 for Ashfield Nursing & Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.831 for Ashfield Nursing & Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (109 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 130 Ratings = 4.831
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashfield Nursing & Residential Home is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 registered maximum number of service users is 6.4, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
