We are disappointed to hear you had negative experience and are very sorry you felt a lack of empathy and compassion towards your grandmother.As you noted, she was admitted to Oaklands due to her advanced dementia and complex needs, after other providers were unable to accommodate her. Our experienced, dementia-trained staff worked hard to support her, with input from relevant professionals. During the hot weather, staff encouraged her to use the air-conditioned areas. As she often declined, fans were provided and curtains closed to reduce direct sunlight, in line with our hot-weather procedures. Different slings were used appropriately for her assessed needs and weight. Records also document food, drinks and support provided. At the care review on 29/06/2026, no concerns were raised and the recorded comment was:"Pleased with care that Mam receiving, staff helpful and caring." It would have been helpful to discuss them at that time.

We have visited our friend many times in the last year and have always been impressed with Oaklands Nursing Home. The deco is always Immaculate, the place is nice and warm, and all the staff are most polite and caring. Even after all this, improvements are always happening. My friend tells me the food is lovely and he really enjoyed it. He is getting a slightly larger bedroom which he is looking forward to. My friend enjoys the friendly atmosphere and has acquired quite a few friends. All in all, a very nice place.
A large amount of work has now been completed and the home is now 100% improved on before. Obviously the new management team are very dedicated on proving improved care for all residents.

Mum came to stay at Oaklands after a spell in hospital. I am just so delighted about the care and welcome she received. All the staff are so friendly and caring and go above and beyond to help Mum get mobile again. She really enjoyed the food and activities. Getting visits from dogs and even meerkats kept her spirits up. As soon as she arrived they helped her set up both her phone and tablet as they know how important they were to her. I can so recommend Oaklands.
