Me and my family are so pleased with Abergarw Manor Care Home that my mother is now living there, and getting all the care she needs and more. We feel that we are more at ease and have peace of mind when we are not with her, and a lovely welcome every time we visit.

I can't speak highly enough of the wonderful staff at this nursing home. We have lost Dad in the last few days but the care given from day 1 up until after his passing has been exceptional. All staff care for their residents as extended family. The home is beautiful and always clean. I particularly loved the cinema room. There is always entertainment and events for all residents and family members to enjoy. Dad was a private man and reverted back to taking himself off to his room but that didn't stop staff popping in and 'visiting' him.
We were kept informed of every concern, and included a monthly catchup to review his care plan.
His last night was special and a moment that will remain with me for a lifetime. He was treated with the highest dignity.

Much love and appreciation to all the staff at this wonderful 'home' xx

I was so worried about my husband now needing dementia nursing care ,I went and viewed a few care homes before finding Abergarw Manor, when I walked in here without making any appointment I was pleasantly surprised by everything within, seeing how wonderful the staff were with the residents, the love , compassion, and empathy ticked my first box, seeing the residents being entertained participating in activities was so wonderful to see. They were all looking clean and well cared for. The home itself was beautiful +spotlessly clean, I asked a lot of questions and the received the answers I wanted I was hoping for. After speaking to the lovely manager and depute manager my mind was made up .

My husband is very happy here and has been here almost 2 months already . Highly recommend this home and it's wonderful staff , nothing is too much trouble for them . Wonderful parties here for the residents, and their families who are always supported and included in everything

I honestly can't thank Abergarw Manor enough for the care and compassion given to my Aunt whilst a resident at the home.
Not only did they treat her with the upmost respect, they also provided me with the support I never knew I needed.

My husband was admitted to Abergarw after a long stay in hospital and I was apprehensive as to whether he would settle. Within days, however, the staff, who chose to go out of their way to speak to him and make a fuss of him, were being rewarded with a smile and they were already teasing out the personality behind the twinkle in his eyes. The nursing staff were second to none, dealing promptly and efficiently with the ailments he suffered during his 8 week stay and communicated well with me throughout. Abergarw certainly has a high number of "stars" right across the organisation eg in front line care, entertainment, cleaning, admin, catering. His birthday there (sadly his last) was actually his best in years! Naturally there were teething problems, mainly around my husband's diet, but these were resolved quickly and efficiently. My only recommendation if starting a new relationship with "any" Home is to arrange an early meeting to agree on mutually acceptable communication routes.

Thank you for your thoughtful review. We are so pleased your husband felt comfortable and well cared for, and that his last birthday was such a special day. The care given to the residents is first-class. The food is good and medical care is very good. I would prefer to have a singing group singing songs from the shows or music more in keeping with the ages of the residents. Too many loud singers singing Elivs and his kind of music, more soothing ballads by a trio or small choir would be more acceptable. A small harmony group around Christmas would be appreciated by all and not too loud.

Mum was there from 11th July to the 1st August 2024, but once my mum was bedbound that was another thing. The first day I went to my mum she was hanging out of bed. My husband called a nurse, and she told me that I should have not put her back to bed. I explained that I had over 30 years experience. She said that didn't matter, no way I was going to leave my mum hanging out of bed. The second day I called to see Mum she was dripping in urine, called a nurse, and this is what she said, "I have no one to change", so I said I will do it myself. The next time I called in to see her and the staff walked past my mother's room, no attempt to go in and see her. I opened the door, the curtains were shut, light on and window shut. The smell was disgusting so I went to see the manager and the response was it will not happen again. Well the next day she was the same as the day before, back to the manager. I waited for them to change her. The only day that my mum was clean and tidy was the day she died.

Mum went into Abergarw Manor Care Home in June of 2023. From day one the staff were caring, kind, considerate and treated Mum as if she was the only person in the world. Mum's room, her clothing and her personal care were exceptional and she was always clean and well dressed. The whole home was always spotless and the staff friendly and smiling. We were frequently offered tea/coffee when visiting and it felt more like going to Mum's home rather than just somewhere she was staying. Staff also asked how we, as a family were - something that made a huge difference, especially in the last weeks of her life.

We lost Mum in August 2023 and even during those last days, Mum was kept comfortable and clean and was treated with dignity and respect. Our sincere thanks to all the staff at Abergarw Manor for looking after us and Mum. Thank you.

Marie LakinJob Title:Registered Manager

I have worked within the care sector for sixteen years, eight of which have been with the Caron Group. I love the buzz and bustle of working within a care home and everything that comes with it. Interacting with the residents and their families is a highlight of my role and offering high-quality care is my passion. It is important to remember that we work in the resident’s homes, the residents do not live in our workplace!

I encourage residents to make their rooms as homely as possible and family and friends are always welcome at Abergarw. The support of my team is imperative when providing high-quality care and I am fortunate to have an experienced and considerate team of staff who treat our residents like family.
