Glain House

from Kathryn S (Wife of Resident) published on 29 June 2026
Submitted via Postal Card • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My husband went into Glain House last summer, with Lewy Body Dementia. What had impressed me on a preliminary visit with the manager was her genuine interest in getting to understand the person, their life and background when well, in order to better relate to them now. The staff, without exception,
were warm, caring and attentive. G's health took a sudden downturn in March this year, and after hospital admission, he came back to Glain House for end-of-life care. Over the next few days G declined quite rapidly but family members were free to come in, spend time and say their goodbyes (biscuits and tea making facilities provided!) . I was able to be with him when he died (a bed was brought in for me and also for our daughter on the previous night).
I feel a deep sense of gratitude to the staff for their loving kindness and meticulous care in ensuring G was kept comfortable and peaceful. Their tears, condolences and hugs were a huge comfort and support to me. When the end came, it went well - thanks to such wonderful staff - and that is all I could have asked for.
Reply from Chris Adamowicz, Home Manager at Glain HouseThank you for your moving and heartfelt review. We are truly honoured that you trusted Glain House to care for your husband. It means so much to hear that our approach to understanding each resident as an individual made a positive difference. Your kind words about our team's warmth, compassion, and attentiveness will be shared with them all.
We are deeply touched by your kind words about the care and support provided at such a profoundly emotional time. It means so much to know that G was able to spend his final days in comfort and peace, surrounded by compassion. We are truly glad you felt supported and able to be together as a family, sharing those precious moments with him.
Please accept our sincere condolences. It was a privilege to care for G and to support you and your family.

Would just like to say how lovely and caring members of staff were to my mother in law Betty in her time at St Marks even though it was only a short time. Would recommend this home to anyone who is looking for a care home for their parents. The nursing and caring staff were both professional and compassionate with the care. For my mum (Betty) as a lady coming to the end of her life and the management were very kind and kept us up to date with all we needed
to know so thank you very much.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
We know that mum feels safe, secure, and happy here and we couldn't wish for more. All the staff go out of their way to support her needs, and if there are any health concerns, they are dealt with immediately. The staff have made a great deal of effort to ensure that mum's diet works well for her and
suits her tastes and needs. The food is excellent, with plenty of variety, and if a resident doesn't feel like a particular meal, then the staff will ensure that resident has what they feel like at that time. Mum loves to wave at staff and blow kisses to them, and is so happy when they return the waves and kisses. There is also a big emphasis on ensuring the residents have the opportunity to engage a lots of social activities, with regular musical events as well. The management and nurses we interact with are absolutely fabulous, as are the care staff. All I can do is give praise to Parc Wern. Thank you so much!
Reply from Wilson Ncheke, Home Manager at Parc Wern Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartfelt review of Parc Wern. It truly means a great deal to us. It's wonderful to know our team's support, particularly around her health and dietary needs, has made a positive difference. Your lovely comments about our staff mean a great deal, and we're so pleased your mum enjoys her interactions with them; her waves and kisses truly brighten everyone's day.

We're also glad you value the variety of meals and activities we provide. Creating a warm, engaging environment is something we are very passionate about.

Glain House

from Ian G (Son of Resident) published on 9 June 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
The support that everyone at Glain House provides to my dad continues to be excellent. I hate the idea of giving 5 stars to everything, but I simply cannot fault what all the staff there do for him. Beyond looking after daily needs - all of which they handle with never any fuss - the considered medical
care plus the imaginative activities and the love and energy the staff bring to every interation mean he really is getting as much as he can out of every day.
A special note for the effort Glain puts in when residents have a celebration. The afternoon tea my dad was recently treated to was 'knock it out of the park' impressive. All the staff who organised and ran the event should feel proud of their huge contribution to making his day special.
Reply from Chris Adamowicz, Home Manager at Glain HouseThank you so much for your incredibly kind and thoughtful five-star review. It truly means a great deal to all of us at Glain House. Our team is passionate about supporting not just the clinical and daily needs of our residents, but also their wellbeing, happiness, and sense of fulfilment and it's wonderful to know that this is making a positive difference for your dad.
Your kind words about our staff's dedication, compassion, and energy will be shared with the whole team, who work so hard to create a warm and engaging environment for everyone in our care. We're especially pleased that your dad's afternoon tea celebration was such a success. Creating meaningful and memorable moments is something we truly value, and it's lovely to hear that the occasion made his day so special.

The Court Care Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Our mother, a resident for 3 years in this wonderful 'open door policy' home, feels safe, secure, and very happy. Needs are met with care and dignity. Although immobile, using suitable equipment, staff involve her with activities, meal times or just relaxing in the lounge. Having a specific dietary
choice, catering staff prepare a variety of fresh, delicious, nutritionally balanced meals. It is kept spotless, by cheerful domestic staff. The carers, like family, are wonderful, attending any needs promptly, with care and dignity. Nursing needs are tented by a team of competent nursing staff, also with friendly knowledge, care and dignity, keeping us well informed. Plentiful entertainment provides the individual resident with variety, suitable to their needs, also enabling & encouraging residents into the beautiful garden. Importantly, the home is managed so competently by an actual Nurse, who's knowledge makes her very approachable, giving us total reassurance on how the home is run.
Reply from Becci Roberts, Home Manager at The Court Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review. It truly means a great deal to our entire team. We are delighted to hear that your mother feels safe, secure, and happy in our home. This is always our highest priority. It's wonderful to know that our team's efforts to provide care with dignity and respect, while supporting her individual needs, are making a positive difference to her daily life. Your kind feedback about our carers, nursing team, domestic and catering staff is truly appreciated. We're pleased your mother enjoys the activities, meals, and time in our home and garden.
We are also very pleased that you feel reassured by our management and communication. Maintaining an open, welcoming environment for residents and their families is incredibly important to us, and your feedback reflects the values we strive to uphold every day.

It was a very emotional time for us as a family when my grandmother moved into care, but from the moment she arrived at Glain House, we felt a real sense of reassurance that she was in the right place. The staff have shown such consistent kindness, patience and genuine care that it has made all the
difference to us. They treat her with real dignity and warmth, always taking time to speak with her properly and understand what makes her comfortable and happy. The little personal touches they notice and remember mean so much and it's clear she is truly valued as an individual. Knowing she is safe and

My husband is settling in well, and we are looking forward to him being able to get downstairs to the lounge and the garden. He is enjoying the food but finding the tea too milky to drink.

Choosing a care home for my mum was the hardest decision, but from the moment she arrived, the staff made us feel we had absolutely made the right choice. The love, kindness and genuine compassion shown to her daily, is nothing short of extraordinary. They do not just care for her needs, they care for
her as a person. They know what makes her smile, when she needs reassurance & treat her with such dignity and affection, it feels like she is surrounded by extended family. All staff go above and beyond and their kindness means the world to us. Seeing mum comfortable, respected and safe gives us peace. The atmosphere is always welcoming and filled with genuine care. The staff show incredible professionalism alongside such heartfelt compassion. Their dedication shines through in everything they do. We will never be able to thank them enough for the exceptional care they provide. We feel truly blessed to have found such an amazing care home & we thank them from the bottom of our hearts.
Reply from Chris Adamowicz, Home Manager at Glain HouseThank you for your lovely review and kind words, they mean so much to us. We know how difficult this decision can be to move a loved one into a care home, and we feel truly honoured that you chose us to be part of your mum's journey.
It's wonderful to hear that she feels safe, happy, and surrounded by care. We strive to create more than just a home; we aim to build a genuine extended family, where every resident is known, valued, and loved for who they are.
Your kind recognition of our team's compassion and dedication will mean the world to them. They take great pride in creating a warm, resident-centered environment for everyone who lives here. Thank you again for your trust and support. It is a privilege to care for your mum.

The staff are all lovely and do their best to provide the best care I often hear them laughing and encouraging the residents which is lovely. The rooms upstairs are in need of some TLC and so is the main room but again the staff do their best to keep it clean.

My nan has been in The Rookery for a year now. It is very comfortable for her and she thinks of it as her home which for us as a family is great comfort. Nan is an outdoor person and the garden was the main reason The Rookery was out first choice. I like that Nan is able to move around the home and
is not restricted to her unit as I know she would not like being confined to one place. Also we take Nan out frequently, but she is always pleased to return back to Rookery and when she sees the staff she has a smile on her face and hugs them as if she has been away for weeks. This is also a massive comfort to us as a family to know she likes the staff as much as the garden.
Reply from Susan Woods, Acting Manager at The Rookery Care HomeThank you for taking the time to write this review I agree we have a lovely garden and are please that residents are able to enjoy the outdoors as this is very important to them
