Review of Brynmawr Care Village from S P (Daughter of Resident) published on 20 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
I have to say that the staff at Ty Plasgellar are absolutely phenomenal with Dad. They treat me like one of the family which means I am always able to approach them with any questions or concerns. Dad has had some health issues recently and they have been absolutely excellent at keeping me informed on what's going on, how he is doing etc and also taking all my concerns about his health, physical and mental, seriously.

The most important thing for me is that my dad is treated as an individual and as a human being, and this is never an issue with the staff. They laugh with him, joke with him and treat him as they would have done had they known him before his diagnosis. There is always some activity going on to keep him and the other residents stimulated and engaged.

Feel like more activities could be done to suit different kinds of residents. They do try here tho but maybe there are staff shortages?

The home is currently going through a renovation which is much needed with some parts completed and are looking great. Rooms (resident) are desperately needed for upgrading (which I'm told they will be). Staff seem friendly and approachable.

Review of The Beeches Care Home from J H (Friend of Resident) published on 5 August 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My friend has a pleasant room with some of her own possessions around her. Today as normal she was seated comfortably in her armchair with pillow support and rug for knees. The room was tidy and a small fan was on a nearby unit as the weather was warm. Staff entering the room were polite and she was brought a cup of tea by a carer who noted she had pressed her call buzzer and asked if she needed anything - she didn't. On the negative side she had pressed her call buzzer before I arrived and it was a good 20 mins before the carer asked re her needs - although, as I was with her, perhaps they assumed she was ok.

I came here in Sept 2025, not knowing what to think of it? But after settling in I knew I was in the right place. It is lovely, and I hope to stay here for the rest of my life. The staff here are first class and they are always happy to help. My medicine is carefully dished out, and anything I need will be given. I have an allergy to egg and the kitchen manage well. I am the last of my family, and they even get someone to pop me into the supermarket - Barry. Every 6-8 weeks. Well done Springbank, 100% happy. Perfect care home.

My mother has been at Beeches since February 2026, having previously residing in a care home for 9 months before breaking her hip which resulting in a hospital stay for a further 6 months. We as a family cannot thank the staff enough for the care our mother receives. A family member visits most days, we're able to see the care she receives, staff are very attentive (she does have her favourites we think!) My mother is always clean and tidy, her clothes are fresh each day, her room clean and tidy. Staff treat her with respect and dignity, which is all we can ask for. Her meals are catered to her needs. She is immobile and suffers from advanced dementia, so yes visits can be hard, staff do however make you feel welcome and at ease. Thank you.
