On entering the home the staff are there to meet and greet you. Good relationship with all staff both nursing and domestic. Great Care is taken to promote a caring environment with a peaceful atmosphere. Support is given to me as well when things are not good. (with my husband) He is settled and relaxed, eats and sleeps well. I feel I can approach the medical staff if I need any advise at any time. Above all a clean and welcoming home. Food is excellent.

I have to say that the staff at Ty Plasgellar are absolutely phenomenal with Dad. They treat me like one of the family which means I am always able to approach them with any questions or concerns. I have to say that the staff at Ty Plasgellar are absolutely phenomenal with Dad. They treat me like one of the family which means I am always able to approach them with any questions or concerns. Dad has had some health issues recently and they have been absolutely excellent at keeping me informed on what's going on, how he is doing etc and also taking all my concerns about his health, physical and mental, seriously.
The most important thing for me is that my dad is treated as an individual and as a human being, and this is never an issue with the staff. They laugh with him, joke with him and treat him as they would have done had they known him before his diagnosis. There is always some activity going on to keep him and the other residents stimulated and engaged.

Overall, happy with Plasgellar Care Home. On occasions, it is somewhat upsetting to see my husband's chest area very wet from where he dribbles. I feel he needs to be changed more often when this happens. I have provided lots of cravats/bibs to help with this problem.

My husband has been in Brynwood for two weeks now and from the day he arrived he has been amazingly well cared for. The home feels warm and welcoming and my husband has space to be himself. I could see him relax into this lovely atmosphere as soon as he arrived and I feel that this has really helped him to settle into his new environment. The staff are clearly well trained and are always kind and respectful to residents, rapidly responding to their individual needs as they arise.

Mam has been well looked after in the home, she seems a lot happier and healthier in the home. In her last care home she had repeated falls, UTI's and incidents of aggression, these are now no longer the case. There are plenty of activities to keep her amused and engaged, when she is in the frame of mind to participate. It is a huge relief for me and my family, after the previous disastrous experience in the other home. Well done to the staff of the home.

On the whole I find this care home to be very good, occasionally there are glitches but for the most part the care giving is excellent. Some staff are able to interact/show empathy better than others but that would be the same anywhere. Standard of cleanliness is good. The food is normally good and plentiful. The cooked dinners on Sunday's and Thursdays are excellent. The rooms are a good sized, kept clean and tidy on a daily basis.

It's such a relief to know that my husband is very well cared for. It's a luxury home, but still has a homely feel. I visit most days and it is spotlessly clean. All the staff are so warm, friendly, kind, compassionate, approachable and really good fun. I am always made to feel very welcome and everyone is supportive to me as well as my husband. The team are very efficient and I feel thankful that my husband is a resident in this amazingly run care home.

My friend is in Beacon Lodge and the care he receives is second to none. The staff are amazing, kind and caring and sensitive to his needs. He is stimulated and happy. He enjoys all the activities on offer and they are varied and interesting.

I am an experienced healthcare professional with over 20 years of experience supporting older people, committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care. At Brynmawr Care Village, I lead with compassion and clarity, working closely with residents, families, and colleagues to ensure every individual remains at the centre of their care.
A standout moment in my career was supporting two young women following their dementia diagnoses. With consistent encouragement from myself and my team, they regained confidence, created a fundraising group, organised charity events, and even appeared on national television. Their journey is a reminder of how the right support can transform lives, an approach I bring to Brynmawr every day.
Kindness is at the core of my leadership style. For me, it means understanding each person’s story, respecting their wishes, and ensuring they feel valued and heard. This reflects in the culture I foster within Brynmawr, one where dignity, empathy, and individual strengths guide our work.
I also believe strongly in strengthening community connections. At Brynmawr, I actively develop partnerships with local clubs and schools, creating opportunities that enrich residents’ lives and strengthen the home’s ties within the community.
Outside of work, I volunteer at my local football club and enjoy spending time with my family, particularly relaxing at my caravan in West Wales.
