When we suddenly found we needed a care home that could take both my parents with different needs very quickly, we were very worried that this wouldn't be possible. Glain House was a huge stroke of luck for us and we are so glad mum and dad ended up there. The managers came out to see mum and dad and
have been very involved throughout, which is really reassuring. Staff at the care home are amazing, taking great care of my parents and always welcoming us when my sister or I visit too.
My dad who has Alzheimer's is now much safer. My mum who needs palliative care is feeling much relieved from caring for dad, and I haven't seen her smile so much in ages. The staff are very aware that mum and dad need to be together each day and make sure this happens.
I checked the reviews on carehome.co.uk before they went to Glain House and we were all much reassured - it was great for mum to be able to get an idea of what it would be like beforehand.
Reply from Gemma Howells, Head of Marketing at Glain HouseThank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartfelt review. We are truly grateful for your kind words, and it means a great deal to the whole team at Glain House. We understand how overwhelming it can feel when care is needed quickly, especially when supporting two loved ones with very different needs. We are so pleased we were able to help at a difficult time and offer a place where both your mum and dad could feel safe, supported, and together. Our team will be delighted to know that their involvement has been reassuring for you and your family. Thank you again for sharing your experience.

My sister and I met with Glain House management on 9th January, looking for a placement for both our parents as an urgent measure, and were given an excellent first impression. Management obviously care deeply about their responsibilities in the care home. Mum and Dad were accepted into Glain House
and the level of care they are receiving is outstanding. All the staff are well trained, very kind, and friendly to our parents. They have settled into their new home very well and are getting the care they need. Mum is having palliative care and Dad has late stage Alzheimer's. A big thank you from my sister and I to Glain House. We would definitely recommend them!
Reply from Gemma Howells, Head of Marketing at Glain HouseThank you so much for sharing your heartfelt review. We are truly grateful that you and your sister took the time to describe your experience during what must have been an incredibly emotional and important transition for your family. We are delighted to hear that your first impression of Glain House gave you confidence and reassurance, and even more pleased that your parents have settled so well into their new home. Your kind words about our staff, their training, kindness, and friendliness will mean the world to the whole team. We thank you for your recommendation.

The Court Nursing Home (or Ely Court as called in our family) became home for my mother for the last 10 months of her life. The wonderfully caring and friendly team treated Mum like a member of their own family. Everyone knew her name and gave her so much love and care and, most importantly, gave her
their time.
The opening of the new garden in May made a real difference and Mum enjoyed the peace, the smells and the quiet places. The home is very professionally run by a dedicated team of people who all work well together and clearly enjoy their roles. We were welcomed as a family to visit at any time and nothing was ever too much trouble. The modern accommodation was very comfortable, with really practical bathrooms and other appropriate furnishings, to make living and mobility as easy as possible, with everything being scrupulously clean. Mum also enjoyed the food, both in choice and quality.
We will miss Ely Court but so appreciate all that they did for our wonderful Mum.
Reply from Becci Roberts, Registered Manager at The Court Care HomeThank you so much for your beautiful review. It means a great deal to us to know that your mum felt at home with us during her time here. It was an absolute privilege to care for your lovely mum, and we will remember her with fondness. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you ever need anything. The home have been fantastic caring for mum over the last 4 years with her dementia. I found all the staff to be caring for my mother to a high level. Also their genuine care & concern for their residents impressed me far more than just them doing "their jobs" as it were. When I've had queries, they
have always given me their full attention & support despite their heavy work loads. Examples help to demonstrate this 1. My father visited Mum twice a week & they always supported him as well to make the most of their time together. They would allow them to have some quality time & to eat together. 2. They recently celebrated their 70th anniversary & my sister & I were given the opportunity to use a room to have a celebration with family & friends which was really appreciated.
3. My father once had an issue with his walking aid & she kindly arranged for a workman on site to do a temporary fix on it. Thank you again so much for caring for Mum whilst she was in your care!

I would highly recommend this nursing home to anyone. It has a very high standard of care and is easily accessible for anyone using public transport.
Our mum was admitted there in the spring of 2024. Prior to that she spent just over a month in a nursing home which we were not at all happy with, because
it did not provide the specific care she needed as a person with dementia, although the staff were aware of her condition.
When we moved her to Glain House it was a great relief to us. The room was lovely and bright, with a well-equipped en-suite bathroom. She perked up considerably after the move, and was much more communicative, although she was very frail. She was very well cared for; all the staff were very friendly and professional, and attentive to her needs. They did all they could to make her comfortable for the last few months of her life, and for that we are deeply grateful.
Reply from Chris Adamowicz, General Manager at Glain HouseThank you for your kind words and for trusting us with your mum's care. We are so pleased to hear that she felt more comfortable after moving to Glain House. It means a lot to our team to know their care and compassion made a difference during such an important time. We are deeply grateful for your recommendation and send our best wishes to you and your family.

It was a comfort to see my father in such a caring, sympathetic & gracious involvement, especially the compassion of the staff from the management & medical & carers. Their interaction with those in need & their thoughtfulness for the residents and those who visit loved ones. It has become reassuring
& a sense of burdens being lifted to know that dad is looked after in this way. The room also was so impressive, spacious & clean.

We are very lucky we found this place for my brother 18 months ago when he was deteriorating with a neurological condition. The care he has received has been exceptional. The staff are amazing and all of them seem to be glad to work there and there's very little staff turnover. My brother took a long
time to adjust to the change when he moved to Ely Court (due in part to his condition) but is now genuinely happy there and doesn't hesitate to say it's his home. The activities programme is impressive and now 7 days a week, and my brother is happy to join in those activities he likes but also content to entertain himself in his room at other times. When the new garden is complete this will make quite a difference for my brother because if there's any criticism it's the lack of exercise available to him (as an adult in his 50s) and I'm sure circuits of the new garden will become part of his routine once it's finished.
Reply from Becci Roberts, Registered Manager at The Court Care HomeThank you for your kind words and for sharing your brother's experience with us. Our team takes great pride in providing compassionate, high-quality care, and it's wonderful to know their dedication has made a positive impact. We are delighted that to hear you brother enjoys our activities programme and we look forward to the completion of the new garden, which will provide a great space for residents to enjoy fresh air and movement. Thank you again for your support, we are privileged to have your brother as part of our community.

We chose Glain House after visiting many homes in Cardiff because it was light and airy, the corridors and the rooms were big, it did not feel like a hospital and there was an outside space. We also liked the living space which was a very large area of a combined living room and dining area. My mum
also has a sister there and was recommended by her relatives.
My father stayed there for nine months before he passed away in the early days of 2025. The staff were very sensitive and helpful during this time.
My Mum enjoyed joining in the activities during visits to my father. Visiting family and friends are made very welcome and are encouraged to visit as often as possible. The visiting times are not restricted I would quite often arrive
at the home at 8:30 in the evening.
The staff were helpful and professional, they would do anything they could to help me and my Mum.
Reply from Chris Adamowicz, General Manager at Glain HouseThank you for taking the time to share such a heartfelt and detailed review. My father is being cared for by some wonderful people.
They are very kind and they always have a smile when I visit, they go out of their way to make their patients happy and at home.
But I am reviewing because they work so very hard on what seems like low staffing. Caron Group need to look after
their staff and be aware of their needs as if these members of staff give up through working too hard with no appreciation from Caron Group they won't have a care home to profit off any longer. Thank you to the staff. Any lack of stars is directed at not enough staff to help existing staff have a better day.
Reply from Chris Adamowicz, General Manager at Glain HouseThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We truly value the hard work and dedication our team puts into providing the best care and support for our residents. It's always wonderful to see that recognised, we ourselves have various ways in which we additionally acknowledge the dedication of our team, both from within the home and via Caron Group. Regarding staffing levels, please know that we are continually reviewing our team requirements to ensure we meet the needs of our residents effectively. These involve thoughtful discussions between the Home Management team and Caron Group's Central Support, working together to reach a consensus on the best approach. If you'd like to discuss this further, we warmly invite you to stop by the office at your convenience. We'd be happy to talk in more detail and address any questions or concerns you may have.

It's difficult to describe how good Ely Court Care Home is. Every single member of staff has a very warm, welcoming and friendly manner towards residents and their family and friends. Real effort is made to create a happy, supportive environment for all and those efforts have really paid off in creating
what must be the model for excellent care homes everywhere. Myself and family will never be able to thank all the staff for everything that they do for mum to enable her to be happy and have fun and laughter in her life after what has been a very difficult time for her. I thank my lucky stars that we found you!

Our mother has resided in Ely Court Care Home for the last 18 months. The home caters to her needs with total care and respect from ALL of the staff. Our mother has said on many occasions how safe she feels. Her room is extremely comfortable and modern. Having a specific dietary choice, the catering
staff make every effort to make her meals not only nutritious, but delicious too. There is always a warm welcome from every aspect of the staffing and they all know our mother's likes and dislikes. The home is kept spotlessly clean throughout and always smells so fresh. Our mother is immobile, but despite this, Ely Court are wonderful at including her in their many events and activities due to the fact that they have all the machinery required to enable this. If any family members have any queries, these are answered without delay. The home is run extremely well, professionally and with dignity. After looking at many other care homes prior, we find Ely Court provides everything our mother needs.
Reply from Becci Roberts, Registered Manager at The Court Care HomeThank you so much for your wonderful review. We're delighted to hear that your mother feels safe, respected, and truly at home at Ely Court Care Home. Our team works hard to create a caring and personalised environment, and it's our pleasure to know that her dietary needs are met with such attention to both nutrition and taste. My mother has been fiercely independent all her life, so having to accept that she was no longer safe to live alone was a bitter pill for her to swallow, however with their care and understanding all the staff at Ely Court have made this so much easier for her, with plenty of activities and stimulation,
she no longer feels lonely, and as her daughter it is wonderful to come and visit and see her so content, warm, clean and well fed. I don't think I can single one or two members of staff out for praise as they are all wonderful and I am so pleased that mum is in their care.

Our team at Ely Court is dedicated to creating a warm, engaging, and supportive environment, so it's wonderful to hear that she feels less lonely and is enjoying the activities and companionship we offer.
