Staff are always welcoming and friendly, especially over the Christmas period. The home is clean and well-looked-after and secure. The residents are well cared for and staff pop in to check that the patients are safe and secure. Medical staff and non-medical staff are equally friendly and happy. Good
atmosphere.

My mother has been a resident at College Fields since 2022 and throughout her time there has enjoyed College Fields being her home. The staff are fabulous. Kind, caring, respectful, knowledgable and with humour. Their dedication to the comfort and care of residents is clear. The team work together
to deliver top quality care. This includes the entertainment team, cooks and cleaners. And the care extends to families too. Any questions or support have been listened to and l responded to quickly. I would absolutely recommend College Fields to any family going through the challenging decision and pathway of nursing care. Both my mother and I feel very fortunate that's this is now her home.
Reply from Emma Pinnell, Manager at College Fields Nursing HomeThank you so much for your kind words and lovely feedback. We are so happy to hear you and your mother see us as her home and part out our extended family.

Lovely place, she felt at home.
Loved the staff, they even became her friends. Lots of activities, even in her room when unable to attend. Able to decorate the room as she wished, even picked the wall colour. She chose Liverpool red.
Great visiting hours, never felt like we had to leave. Food was
a little old fashioned for her taste. The Kitchen manager even made her a menu to try that would suit her taste/fussiness. She would sometimes have her own food brought in, that the kitchen staff would heat up for her. Nothing was an issue, She never had a bad word to say.

The care and friendship she received during her time at college Fields was a real comfort to the whole family.

My mothers sister was very unwell in hospital and the care staff and office staff went above and beyond to get her to the hospital to visit her as family were all unable to take her. Transport and a memer of care staff were made available to her with the minimum of fuss. She was treated with the utmost
respect and dignity. The following day my mother was found, herself, very unwell. Again everything was done to assist her in getting well and she is still here to tell the tale. We cannot thank all staff at College Fields for everything they do. My mother can be a very difficult woman.

This place was amazing. They treated my mother with respect and dignity and she made friends with everyone as they were all so friendly. She would go out and about when she could and have events going on in the home all the time so there was never a shortage of things to do all the time. She was living
her best life while there and was so happy being there. Visiting was easy and straight forward so you can pretty much come and go as you please which made it much easier, and the staff were fabulous and very accommodating while visiting or if u just needed to make a phone call to check up somthing. I would highly recommend this home for a loved one as you know they will be well looked after and be happy there.

My mum was a resident at College Fields Nursing Home for 3 years and recently passed away. I found the care to be excellent. My mum was very well looked after, all of the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. It was nice to see my mum engaged in activities with pictures on social media. This is
a home with a very positive culture and I'm very happy to recommend it.

Awful experience with my relative. His room was absolutely filthy constantly. At various times it was infested with ladybugs. Instead of getting someone in to sort it out properly their answer to this was to board up the windows with plastic screens therefore allowing no air into the room and making
it sweltering hot in the summer. We could always see dead bugs then between the window and the plastic which were never cleaned and removed. Dust and dirt everywhere. Tablets on the floor that they had dropped and not realised. So whether they had even given the right dosage to my relative we’ll never know. We were asked to take in yoghurts and a mini fridge. These were rarely given to my relative and left to go off in his room. The food was absolutely vile. Constant scooped lumps of mash and god knows what else. When the windows were in use they were smashed and had a block of wood holding one slightly open! I could go on and on. We have moved our relative to somewhere much better! Avoid!
Reply from Helen Randall, Manager at College Fields Nursing HomeHi Casey,
We take all feedback seriously. We aim to provide the best possible care. It is disappointing that when we spoke last you informed me that you had no concerns about anything, including care provision. You stated that you wanted your friend moved so he was living nearer to his disabled wife so she could visit him more frequently. You informed me that you were not his niece, but a friend of the family but you are now referring to him as a relative. I apologise if I misunderstood the relationship. When there were issues with lady bugs we called out our pest control contractor. The plastic screens were secondary glazing, as the home is a listed building we cannot have double glazing so these screens keep the rooms warm in winter. Your friend never complained of being too warm, if he had we could have removed them. If you had provided me with details at the time of your other concerns, I could have investigated them thoroughly for you. I am pleased you are happy with the new home.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.317)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.317) out of 10 for College Fields Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.832 for College Fields Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (99 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 119 Ratings = 4.832
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.485 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for College Fields Nursing Home is based on 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.75
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 68 registered maximum number of service users is 13.6. 10 Positive Reviews ÷ 13.6 = 0.735
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
