Review of College Fields Nursing Home from P O (Son of Resident) published on 24 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience
From the outset the staff have shown exceptional kindness, patience and proffesionalism caring for her. The nursing team have been thorough and attentive ensuring Mum's complex medical needs are met around the clock. The care assistants treat her with warmth + dignity at all times.

Management have been responsive and approachable whenever we have raised concerns always promptly and openly. The home is clean, well-maintained, and has a warm atmosphere. After an incredibly difficult few months for our family, knowing Mum is safe and treated with respect means everything. The staff have made a very hard situation so much easier to bear. Cannot thank them enough.

Reply from Emma Pinnell, Manager at College Fields Nursing Home

Review of Bellavista Nursing Home Cardiff from Michael C (Son of Resident) published on 2 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
This was a last minute find for mum, as i was due to have a respite holiday. I must admit I was apprehensive when having to leave mum here at such short notice.
But to be fair, the staff were excellent in looking after mum and she seemed to enjoy her stay here, despite being on edge the first couple of days understandably. The place was clean and well maintained by the staff and cleaners etc..
Also, it was near to the waterfront, so mum could be taken out, weather permitting!
I really can't thank the staff enough for taking mum at short notice and looking after here while I was away, with dignity, patience and kindness.
Would certainly recommend this home to anyone else in a similar position.

Many thanks

My review or any review is based on a snapshot of the daily life at the care home. I visit for 3 hrs/week. My sister is calm, looks happy and is presented to me in a clean + tidy, well fed, well dressed. My sister is unable to speak so observation in necessary. The staff are kind, helpful, patient, welcoming. The building is clean, warm, well maintained, secure, accessible and well located. Heartily recommend.

It's hard to put into words how much the team at The Waverley Care Centre did for our family. Living over in Sydney, being thousands of miles away while my mum's health declined was incredibly tough. She had Corticobasal Syndrome, a complex form of dementia that required very specific care. The peace of mind I had knowing she was being treated with such dignity and genuine heart in her final year was a huge weight off my shoulders.

When I finally got back to the UK to be with her in her final stages, I had my baby son with me. I was worried about bringing a little one into that environment, but the staff were amazing. They looked after us just as much as they looked after Mum, making us feel completely welcome and supported. Seeing firsthand the kindness they showed during those last days was deeply moving. Thank you to the whole team for making a very difficult time feel peaceful and respectful. We couldn't have asked for more.

Choosing a care home for a loved one is never easy, but mum's care home has been reassuring and positive experience for the family.from the very beginning, staff have been warm, attentive, and genuinely compassionate, treating residents with dignity and respect.
The environment is clean, comfortable and thoughtfully maintained, creating a homely environment for all the residents. There are daily activities and social opportunities, which have made a noticeable difference to mum's mood and overall wellbeing.

Communication with family is excellent they keep us informed which gives us peace of mind. Mum has dementia when we visit she says, 'this is such a good hotel I don't want to leave, the staff are so friendly, the food is great, there's always something going on. I'm really happy here she says. Which makes us as a family extremely happy. Thank you Collage Fields

Our mother became poorly and was treated with great care, diginity and respect by all carers and nursing staff. GP was called promptly and we as a family were kept informed of every step taken. When our mother passed family were not present but staff had been with her and she was treated with the utmost diginity and empathy. Family on arrival after her passing were shown a great deal of sympathy and were consoled by staff and allowed as much time as needed with her to say our goodbyes. Various staff came to pay their respects at this time and during the time we were there to clear her room. A member of staff who had previously worked with her even insisted on handling her after care before she was taken to her final resting place at the funeral home. We as a family cannot thank all staff at college fields enough for the outstanding care they gave our mother throughout the time she lived there. She made friends and memories as did we that will carry us through the difficult times ahead

All the team at College Fields do an amazing job and are a credit to their industry. From the warmth of the welcome at reception to the politeness/ kindness of the nurses/ carers and office staff the experience was always pleasant. The entertainment team engage all residents in a wide mix of fun, educational and topical activities. The office staff are very professional and also show the same warmth to residents and visitors alike.
My mum was well looked after during her 20 month tenure at the home and us the family were also well looked after when visiting. The home felt like a home for mum and we were always made to feel welcome and be a part of the establishment.
When mum passed away early in April the team were all very considerate/ sympathetic to us and showed us the love/ care that they show to the residents.

A true credit to the industry and a top notch team regardless of their role in the home.

Review of Bellavista Nursing Home Cardiff from William S (Son of Resident) published on 11 May 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My mother was admitted for respite care which soon got elevated to palliative care. The staff at Bellavista were attentive, friendly and professional and as my Mother's needs changed, so did the demands and the necessary response from the Home in difficult circumstances. I personally was made to feel welcome and there were no restrictions on visiting hours and I was told "to treat my mother's bedroom" as if it was her permanent home, which indeed it was until her sad end of life. Everyone we met was so generous and positive and comforting at the end and I compliment all the staff on their smiles and care.

Review of Baltimore House from J W (Sister of Resident) published on 1 May 2026 Submitted via Postal Card

The Care Home is an old house but very clean with no offensive smells. The staff are always welcoming when I visit my sister.

Unfortunately her room is on the 3rd floor and her accessed by a lift (or stairs which due to her condition she is unable to use). She prefers to stay in her room for most of her time because every other resident has Dementia, at present. I am hopeful her life will change for the better is she is able to have a ground floor room a.s.a.p.
