It's hard to put into words how much the team at The Waverley Care Centre did for our family. Living over in Sydney, being thousands of miles away while my mum's health declined was incredibly tough. She had Corticobasal Syndrome, a complex form of dementia that required very specific care. The peace
of mind I had knowing she was being treated with such dignity and genuine heart in her final year was a huge weight off my shoulders.
When I finally got back to the UK to be with her in her final stages, I had my baby son with me. I was worried about bringing a little one into that environment, but the staff were amazing. They looked after us just as much as they looked after Mum, making us feel completely welcome and supported. Seeing firsthand the kindness they showed during those last days was deeply moving. Thank you to the whole team for making a very difficult time feel peaceful and respectful. We couldn't have asked for more.
Reply from Malen Alvarez, Registered Home Manager at The Waverley Care CentreThank you so much for your incredibly kind words. It means a great deal to the whole team to know that your mums final year with us brought comfort and peace to both her and your family during such a difficult time.
Caring for someone with Corticobasal Syndrome comes with many challenges, and it was a privilege to support your mum with the dignity, compassion, and respect she deserved. We also understand how hard it must have been being so far away in Sydney, and were glad we could provide some reassurance and support along the way.
It was lovely to welcome you and your baby son during those final days, and were so pleased you felt cared for and comfortable with us. Your words about the kindness and warmth shown by the team will mean so much to everyone here.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience. We are truly honoured to have been able to care for your mum and support your family.

Choosing a care home for a loved one is never easy, but mum's care home has been reassuring and positive experience for the family.from the very beginning, staff have been warm, attentive, and genuinely compassionate, treating residents with dignity and respect.
The environment is clean, comfortable
and thoughtfully maintained, creating a homely environment for all the residents. There are daily activities and social opportunities, which have made a noticeable difference to mum's mood and overall wellbeing.
Communication with family is excellent they keep us informed which gives us peace of mind. Mum has dementia when we visit she says, 'this is such a good hotel I don't want to leave, the staff are so friendly, the food is great, there's always something going on. I'm really happy here she says. Which makes us as a family extremely happy. Thank you Collage Fields

Our mother became poorly and was treated with great care, diginity and respect by all carers and nursing staff. GP was called promptly and we as a family were kept informed of every step taken. When our mother passed family were not present but staff had been with her and she was treated with the utmost
diginity and empathy. Family on arrival after her passing were shown a great deal of sympathy and were consoled by staff and allowed as much time as needed with her to say our goodbyes. Various staff came to pay their respects at this time and during the time we were there to clear her room. A member of staff who had previously worked with her even insisted on handling her after care before she was taken to her final resting place at the funeral home. We as a family cannot thank all staff at college fields enough for the outstanding care they gave our mother throughout the time she lived there. She made friends and memories as did we that will carry us through the difficult times ahead

All the team at College Fields do an amazing job and are a credit to their industry. From the warmth of the welcome at reception to the politeness/ kindness of the nurses/ carers and office staff the experience was always pleasant. The entertainment team engage all residents in a wide mix of fun, educational
and topical activities. The office staff are very professional and also show the same warmth to residents and visitors alike.
My mum was well looked after during her 20 month tenure at the home and us the family were also well looked after when visiting. The home felt like a home for mum and we were always made to feel welcome and be a part of the establishment.
When mum passed away early in April the team were all very considerate/ sympathetic to us and showed us the love/ care that they show to the residents.
A true credit to the industry and a top notch team regardless of their role in the home.

My mother was admitted for respite care which soon got elevated to palliative care. The staff at Bellavista were attentive, friendly and professional and as my Mother's needs changed, so did the demands and the necessary response from the Home in difficult circumstances. I personally was made to feel
welcome and there were no restrictions on visiting hours and I was told "to treat my mother's bedroom" as if it was her permanent home, which indeed it was until her sad end of life. Everyone we met was so generous and positive and comforting at the end and I compliment all the staff on their smiles and care.
Reply from Ceri Evans, Manager at Bellavista Nursing Home CardiffThank you so much for the kind words for our staff. Although it was a brief time, we became very fond of her, and your lovely family.

The Care Home is an old house but very clean with no offensive smells. The staff are always welcoming when I visit my sister.
Unfortunately her room is on the 3rd floor and her accessed by a lift (or stairs which due to her condition she is unable to use). She prefers to stay in her room for most of
her time because every other resident has Dementia, at present. I am hopeful her life will change for the better is she is able to have a ground floor room a.s.a.p.

After a hospital stay, a year ago I had five weeks respite in College Fields which was my first experience at respite. Right at that time of entering I was made very welcome. Everyone was so friendly. A year later I've had another very enjoyable three week stay at College Fields and from my arrival.
I had a really nice time with them all. I recommend this nursing home absolutely. I was recognised by many of the staff from last year and I met many new staff, becoming instant friends. I got known as the "chatterbox", and have lots of names to remember of staff of many different nationalities and religious backgrounds. My laptop has many downloaded items in their different languages including Twi, Malayalam, Hindi, Xhosa, Filipino, Shona (The website is available in over 1000!), and English. I found the Internet was available at all times which was such a bonus for me.
This year I also enjoyed my stay very much. I hope to come back again soon if they'll have me. best wishes all.

My father Trevor was resident at College Fields from October 2025 until he passed this week. During the time he was there he was cared for by many different carers. They all treated him with kindness and respect. When we visited nothing was too much trouble and they were always friendly and extremely
pleasant. They sat and talked to him when he was alone which was a great comfort to us. I would especially
like to mention Divya, Shambeta and Sandra for their support at all times.

I write to commend the staff of College Fields for their care and humanity.
My brother in law was a resident for over 4 months until he recently passed away.
The staff were consistently very kind both to my brother in law and sister in law. Also to the rest of the family. My sisters' wishes as his
advocate were also adhered to, and nothing was too much trouble.
He was always clean and well presented and was treated respectfully by the staff and that includes all members of the team.
The food was very good and although his appetite was poor, he would always be given other choices as supplement.
In particular, was the care that was shown to my brother in law and the family in his final days.
Many thanks.
