Overall Experience

My stepdad has been a Resident at Pen y Bryn since the end of May 2026. It was a challenging but from our first meeting with Sian, the Home Manager, it has been a very positive experience. All of the staff - nurses, carers cleaners and maintenance are welcoming, kind and caring. Although unsettled at first, Dad has now settled in well, thanks to the support of all the staff. I take my Mum to visit a few times a week and the staff are friendly and welcoming to her too. She frequently stays to have lunch or tea with him and participate in activities that are on that day. They even had an ice cream van call during the hot weather, with icecreams bought for everyone by Sian. A huge thank you to all staff for your kindness and support. I highly recommend Pen Y Bryn.

My dad spent just over two weeks in respite at Pen Y Bryn and I can't fault the care he received. The staff went above and beyond to make his stay as comfortable as possible. Always a friendly face around and such care given to relatives when visiting.

My mother was looked after by caring and approachable staff who were friendly to deal with. They seemed to go out of their way to meet her individual needs and I felt reassured that she was in safe hands. I believe her stay was made as pleasant for her as possible and she was kept clean and safe at all times. Staff always kept me informed of any issues and I will always be grateful for their care and compassion.

Mum had 2 weeks respite at the home and I must say settled in a lot better than I imagined. Staff were helpful and the nursing staff were excellent. With daily activities/entertainment mums stay was very enjoyable. I would highly recommend the home and hopefully, fingers crossed, they can accommodate us later in the year by having mum to stay once again.

My mum was at Pen y Bryn for about 6 months until she passed away. The staff and nursing staff were always so kind and caring and offered us cups of tea during our many visits (most days) I pass there frequently and miss calling in to see my mum. A lovely care home.

My dad was initially reluctant to move into a home. The care team in Pen-Y-Bryn did their very best to welcome him and make him feel at home in his new surroundings. Dad quickly settled and thought highly of the whole team and was happy to stay and live knowing that he was receiving great treatment and care. The team were wonderful with my dad and our family are happy that his final days were spent with family and a great support team around him.

My mum moved into Pen-Y-Bryn in Autumn. She loved the other guests, found companionship and stimulating daily interaction.
More importantly, the nursing staff there were simply incredible. They treated her as a family member, with empathy and compassion, good humour and genuine care.
When she suddenly became ill after Christmas the care to Mum, and also to our family, in terms of pastoral care was genuinely amazing. When we needed them most they were there for us, nothing was too much bother.

The people who work there go above and beyond. They look after their guests and I am so glad my mum spent her last days there.

I cannot praise the staff of Pen-y-Bryn highly enough. The last seven months of my mother's life were spent in a warm, clean and loving environment. Nothing was too much trouble and all the staff were very professional, as is the management of the home. The care and support helped to ensure that she achieved her ambition of being the first member of our family to live to the remarkable age of 100. Thank you to everyone.

My 91-year-old mum has been a resident at Pen-y-Bryn for nearly 9 years. My family is very pleased with the care my mum receives. All the staff are very warm, friendly and professional and the home is managed very well. We are welcome visitors at any time, the home always appears and smells clean, food is great and our mum's gluten-free needs are looked after and they have regular activities for enjoyment and stimulation. We have no hesitation in recommending Pen-y-Bryn to other families looking for a caring home for a relative.

I cannot praise Pen-y-Bryn enough, the care and love they showed my mum was incredible. Apart from being spotlessly clean, the residents clearly clean and well cared for the atmosphere is always happy, the staff always smiling no matter what time you visit. It is clear they truly care for the elderly and show them love and respect. It is run with incredible efficiency but still manages to be a happy loving place. In my mums last days, the love and compassion shown to my mum, myself and my family was amazing. I cannot praise Pen-y-Bryn enough and can only thank them for everything they did above and beyond their duties.

My lovely Aunty has been at Penybryn for a few months. We are overwhelmed with the care she receives there. The staff members whom we have encountered have been absolutely wonderful. The home is spotless and no stale urine aroma ever. The residents are all happy and clean. There is a really warm atmosphere there. If I ended up there in my 90s I would be quite content!
