Overall Experience

We can't thank the team enough for the exceptional care they have given to my Nan. From the moment she arrived, it was clear that every member of staff genuinely cares about the wellbeing, comfort, and dignity of the people they look after.

The team have been unbelievably kind, patient, and attentive - not just to my nan, but to our whole family. They keep us informed, reassure us when things feel overwhelming, and always make sure nan is treated with the gentleness and respect she deserves. The atmosphere in the home is calm, warm, and compassionate, and it has brought us so much peace knowing she is in safe hands. The activities on offer have been second to none, she even appeared on the news holding a monkey.

In these final stages of her life, their support has meant more than words can say. The staff go above and beyond, showing not just professionalism, but real humanity. We will always be grateful for the love and dignity they have shown nan during such a precious time.

Dad has settled in so well, he loves all the entertainment that is on offer and appears to join in with it all. It has definitely made a vast improvement to his quality of life and put our minds at ease. Knowing that he is happy and being cared for to a high standard has taken a big weight off our shoulders. The staff are all professional and friendly to both Dad and us his family. Hopefully he will have many happy years here.

Overall Experience
My father was in Pen Y Bont for almost three months for palliative care. I think the level of care he received can be summed in something he said to me, " Do you know if you paid a million pounds a week you couldn't have better care than I am having here."
Dad was not naturally sociable, and being very deaf he struggled in a noisy atmosphere, preferring to stay in his room. The staff were extremely kind to him and everyone stopped for a chat with him which he enjoyed. When we weren't visiting he told us he was never lonely as there were lots of friendly people there.
Dad received excellent nursing care and the liaison between different agencies was excellent. As a family we were consulted and involved at every stage. Our concerns about Dad were handled professionally and we had peace of mind knowing he was receiving the best care. Dad's failing appetite was also handled well and Dad was able to stipulate what he wanted.

We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Pen Y Bont Nursing Home.

Overall home is good. My Mother likes to stay in her room, occasionally she will visit the lounge but doesn't partake in activities. However, she needs to be encouraged to leave her room for the room to be deep cleaned.

As for laundry, it is clean but unable to buy pleated skirts as the laundry person puts them in the drier, have asked not to put them in the drier as pleats come out and underwear not white must be mixed with colours. Some good carers but occasionally have found my Mum wet think Mam could be encouraged to use the toilet more often, have spoken to the manager and hopefully this will be rectified.

I have found both management and staff friendly and helpful. They provide help and support to the residents and visitors and answer any questions I may have. It is always clean and tidy. The garden is a lovely space to sit weather permitting. Entertainment is provided most days along with activities. There are excursions twice a month for those who are able to go. Hairdresser weekly visit. All satisfactory.

A lovely, clean place that is very well managed. The care my mother has received since arriving here has been brilliant, all the staff are very friendly and take great care of her. The activities that the care home provides for the residents have been incredible and are a great way of keeping everyone occupied and happy.

The social media page that the care home runs is also a great way of keeping up to date with activities and seeing family members enjoying themselves.
