Overall Experience

My mum was admitted to Woffington in October 2025 following a hospital admission to hospital. She was very mentally unwell at the time due to advanced dementia. Since admission to Woffington she has seemed calm and content. She has developed various physical health conditions but these are being managed between the home and GP practice. Unfortunately her mobility has declined but she is transferred using appropriate equipment and feels safe with the carers. Mum loves her food and thoroughly enjoys all her meals. She is supported with personal care needs and always looks well presented which has always been important to her. Overall she is content, safe and well cared for. Any issues are always communicated to myself in a timely manner and all the staff make me feel welcome when I visit.

Overall Experience

My mother in law has mixed dementia plus a range of other health conditions. She came here as a result of a fall, as it was not safe to send her home. We had planned to bring her here for respite, so she had already been assessed and had met management, fortunately. The change in her since she has been here is tremendous. She is much happier, more active and well looked after. She tells us that she feels safe here and gets on really well with the carers and staff. She joins in with all the activities and has brightened up since having more social interaction. She is walking so much better and is much happier. It is good to see a little of her old self coming back, now and then. Woffington House and its staff were there just when we needed them and we cannot thank them enough. We hope she will be able to be a permanent resident very soon.

My aunt who suffers from mixed dementia, has been living at Woffington since October 2023. She is very happy there. She enjoys the food and the company there. The staff are excellent and very caring. The staff treats each resident as an individual. The rooms are kept very clean and the laundry service is impressive. The manager phones me with any health updates which is reassuring.

Basically it's my mother's personal care I feel needs addressing, sat for maybe a period of time when she has had an accident and washing and making sure her nails are clean and not dirty.
My mother wears glasses and when I visit her there is times when's she hasn't had them on and when asking where they are they are either in the office or in her bedroom, she can't see see and they are her eyes, ensure they are clean.

Communication with family could be better.

Please please please don’t send a person you care about here. This is honestly the worst place for them. They would have their needs met better in prison. They have absolutely no care for the people they are supposed to care for. All they want is their money. An absolute gentleman of a man who was my grandfather went there. On arrival he was a man needing extra care, in a few months of being there he has now passed away. They don’t write reports or check on individuals. All they say is do they want a hair cut or nails cut that’s an extra £50. Something needs to be done about this place. Do not send anyone you care about here please!

It is not uncommon for absent family members to experience overwhelming feelings of guilt and grief at the deterioration and passing of a loved one and this is often manifested through anger and blame. We are sorry that you feel this way and that we did not merit more than a single star in any...

Apart from other concerns I have had with the home (unable to take further than the manager, the information on this web site being outdated by over a year), today I visited my mother, the visit lasted only 10 minutes as I had to sit in the pouring rain to talk to her regardless of whatever excuse they try and make. I am disabled myself, previous visits have at least used a canopy while visiting, this was for whatever reason unavailable, I was not told this. It is at the side of the home and not visible to me without walking to it. I could visit her anytime, they know I am disabled, have little respect when I am spoken to. As for her care, they do keep her alive but for example, I took her false teeth back to her after repairing them, it took maybe a couple of days before they gave them to her.

We had to provide a better mattress for her, chair and commode.

I’m sorry that you feel that you’ve been mistreated. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, you were aware that visiting was restricted to outside visits only and that pre-booking an appointment was requested in order to manage the safety of the residents and not overstretch the staff. It has to be...
