My mother has been a resident at Pentwyn for more than 2 years. The level of care she receives is outstanding. All of the staff are so friendly and accommodating with mum's needs. She is always treated with utmost respect and dignity. The communication from the home is excellent I am kept well informed
if there are any changes regarding mum. I am comfortable in the knowledge that mum is in safe hands.

Dad moved into Pentwyn after a six-week stay in the hospital. As a family we were nervous but after one visit any fears were totally alleviated as the managers and team excelled in every facet of elderly care and family liaison. Caring, empathetic, professional and a total feeling of safety and comfort
was provided for my father. We as a family were greatly comforted by the staff of Pentwyn and we recommend Pentwyn to anyone.

My auntie resides in Pentwyn House. I honestly could not wish for a better environment for her.
She is well looked after by everyone, a particular staff member and the team are exceptional at their jobs. I sleep at night knowing she is cared and loved for.
It is always spotless and never any rubbish
anywhere. A well-kept ship as my auntie used to say. Thanks to all staff.

I would highly recommend Pentwyn House to anyone I know from our experience so far with our mother. The management and staff are excellent at their jobs and are very friendly, caring and professional in all they do. Any issues are dealt with straight away where possible. Mum appears happy most of the
time (her illness sometimes means she's not) and is always clean and her clothes and room are kept spotless as is the rest of the home. Activities are good and her overall care is excellent! 100% recommend it!

My mum has been a resident at the home for almost two years and has complex care needs. The level of care and attention she has received has been outstanding, with every member of the team exhibiting genuine concern and kindness towards her.
Mum is very comfortable there and our family are comforted
in knowing that she is being extremely well looked after.
The facility itself is well-maintained and offers a welcoming atmosphere. The variety of choice and quality of food seems very good.
Our family are extremely grateful for the outstanding care Mum has received at Pentwyn House. I highly recommend this facility to anyone seeking a caring and supportive environment for their loved ones.

Just before bonfire night the staff arranged a bonfire night for residents, families and staff, we attended to see our nan like always. On arrival they had already started which we understood as we were running late due to traffic.
All residents were kept in the warm by gathering in the conservatory
where family were able to also join, after the fire was lit and the fireworks were set off there were refreshments offered to all including sausages and burgers. We cannot fault the care from the staff and how much of an improvement there has been so a massive thank you to all. Each time we visit we have a brief handover on how our nan is so thank you also for keeping us all in the loop.

Since both my parents went into Pentwyn House, it's the best we have seen them. After being in 3 homes before which were not very good, Pentwyn House gives the best care which, I myself and my family, are very grateful for. Food is lovely and it's so clean, the staff and owner always give a warm welcome
to my family when we visit my mum. Sadly my dad passed in March, what I like about this home is you can visit any time and you are never turned away, even if it's meal times. With other homes my parents were in, you could not visit during meal times.

My mother until recently was a resident at Pentwyn House for over 2 years and was welcomed from day one. The care and attention she received quickly helped her to settle into her new home and she was very happy. In my experience, the staff are always very patient and extremely caring in their approach
and always took the time to understand my mum's needs.

I have been very pleased with the service provided and have always felt reassured that my mother's needs and wellbeing were of the utmost importance. As a relative of a resident, I have also been made to feel welcome and a part of the extended family.

There are regular activities for those residents who wish to participate and for those who are able to do so, are encouraged to be involved. The owners take an active part in the welfare of the residents and seem passionate in their efforts to create a friendly, relaxed, clean and safe environment.

I have no reservations in recommending Pentwyn House Nursing Home.

I have found this home to be of excellent standard and the staff are of the highest quality in friendliness and help whenever you need them, they are there for you. I lost my wife 18 months ago and the staff helped me through my bereavement wonderfully and I give them my heartfelt gratitude for what
they have done.
Many thanks to them all.

I have found all the staff at the home to be professional in everything they do and are always there when needed. The home is very well laid out and loads of space out in the garden, there is also plenty for the residents to do.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.919) out of 10 for Pentwyn House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.919 for Pentwyn House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (275 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 296 Ratings = 4.919
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Pentwyn House Nursing Home is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 43 registered maximum number of service users is 8.6, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
