A further 35 beds are located in Oakview, which is an extension to the main house, providing modern and well-equipped bedrooms.
The therapeutic approach of care at Knowesouth is achieved through the close working relationships between care and nursing staff at the home together with community psychiatric nurses, local GPs and the dedicated geriatric care team at the Borders General Hospital and Borders Specialist Dementia Unit.
The home prides itself on strong relationships with families and friends of the residents and welcome visitors daily.
Residents are encouraged to take part in a range of hobbies and pastimes arranged by the dedicated activities co-ordinator who plans a varied programme everyday.

My dad has been here just over a year now and I cannot fault the care he receives. The care staff and nursing team demonstrate kindness and respect towards residents as well as appropriate training in meeting the needs of dementia patients. Staff appear to know my dad well and are always able to tell me when I arrive how he has been earlier in the day or earlier that week. He is always clean and well dressed when I visit and his room is always clean and tidy. Management are very approachable and show good knowledge of my dad's condition, his needs and his medication. The nursing staff or management always contact me with any changes or other significant information. His dietary needs are personalised and management open to suggestions / ideas. The activities co-ordinator tries to tailor activities to individual interests. Security is as it should be for a facility where many residents have dementia. I feel that my Dad is safe and well cared for at Knowesouth.
