Grandad looks like he's in great health! He seems to have on and off days but that isn't down to the staff. The other residents seem very happy. Debbie at the front office was very polite and welcoming, love the decor of the high ceilings, feel sorry for your heating bill. Comfy waiting area chairs.
Only recommendation would be a little fresh linen diffuser to set the tone of your welcoming. Response time to the bell was superb, Debbie 100m trackstar. I think coffee machine in the waiting area would be a lovely idea. A/C required in laundry area, mood lighting is optional.

Spynie to me is a warmhearted, kind and homely place. I have every confidence in their care of my husband, and the staff have shown care and kindness both to me and to wider family. To me it is noticeable that staff relationships are warm and friendly and there is an air of calmness and things being
under control. All of the staff impress me but maybe I could mention the laundry and domestic staff and the Activities organisers who add so much to the wellbeing of residents.

Staff- Every time I'm there I am aware of the care. Not simply what residents need, but they don't miss a chance to be pleasant. Hello in passing, stop for a chat when they have time. I am informed of incidents and get explanations knowing GP and/or nurse has checked her over and she will be monitored
and kept safe, kept clean, tidy, comfy, warm. Very positive, smiling staff providing events music socalising, trying new things, one to one or in groups. Asked for opinions for future activities. I have a very high opinion of this care home and recommend it to others. I am glad she's there being looked after with respect from all.

Spynie Care Home has undergone a truly positive transformation since being taken over by manager Jamie. From the very beginning, it has been clear that Jamie is doing an amazing job, and the improvements are evident throughout the home. There is a noticeable difference in the overall atmosphere - the
place feels lighter, more welcoming, and filled with a renewed sense of positivity and care. Staff morale appears higher, and there is a strong feeling of leadership, commitment, and pride in the home. It's reassuring to see such dedication to both residents and staff, and it gives real confidence in the direction the care home is heading. I am genuinely looking forward to seeing Jamie's plans and vision for Spynie Care Home come to life in the future, as the changes so far have been extremely encouraging.

Had family up to see Mum and sat outside in the garden, the weather was very nice. The staff was more than happy to help Mum with her meal. The staff offered drinks for us and the kids, really friendly and helpful. The kids enjoyed their experience seeing Gran for the first time since she moved. Very
happy and happy and friendly staff. Can't fault anyone.

My father has been a resident for the past 17 months and has received the very best of care that can be provided. We receive telephone updates if we are unable to visit for a lengthy period. Overall, we are very satisfied with his care package and cannot thank all the staff for their dedication and
professionalism. Thank you.

Neighbours and friends visiting were put off by scruffy gutters, the untended courtyard and pre-developed land on the road to the care home, but I think this is very daft snobbishness! The care is great and the team of carers, especially the younger women and men, are clearly supporting each other to
stay cool in frequently stressful situations and are always kind to my mum. The older members of the staff team seem to get more frustrated and attached to particular outcomes, but I am glad they are well outnumbered!

From the start, the manager and her staff were extremely professional, informative, caring and proactive. Their communication with me regarding my father has been excellent, and at my visits, there has always been a lovely 'banter' and an emphasis on respecting his wishes and dignity. Due to COVID,
I can't comment on features such as activities, but Spynie always looks clean and cared for. The sadness of seeing my father decline is eased by the reassurance he is in kind and caring hands. Huge congratulations to the team for turning around Spynie's fortunes.

I visited my partner at Spynie Care Home yesterday. He moved on the 18th August to be 10 minutes from his daughter as we could not find a care home near our home up to the standard and value of Spynie. I am very happy at how he has settled despite his health issues - dementia. Because of covid19, I
was unable to see his room or any of the facilities and activities available. I was aproned/masked/well hand washed before my partner was brought in. He was well dressed, clean, comfortable and by all accounts eating well. Staff have a very good rapport with residents. I was dreading this 1st visit, but have a huge sense of relief that my partner is in good, caring hands under a very professional manager.

I went to visit my father using social distancing. It went very well, and the layout was prepared well. My dad did look unwell, and I was worried about how thin he looked. I understand that the staff can't make him eat. He has complained in the past about the food being cold, so I'm not sure if he isn't
eating due to that or if he has lost his appetite. It's reassuring that he is being looked after.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.270)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.270) out of 10 for Spynie Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.766 for Spynie Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (83 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.766
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.504 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Spynie Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 56 registered maximum number of service users is 11.2. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.2 = 0.804
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
