At Peacock Nursing Home in Livingston, residents are treated like family, with care that is warm, compassionate, and reassuring.

From the moment someone arrives, time is taken to understand who they are - their life story, their routines, and the things that bring them comfort. Working closely with residents and their loved ones, a personalised care plan is created that reflects each individual’s wishes and supports their independence, always focusing on what they can do.

Families are at the heart of the care provided. Maintaining open communication ensures loved ones feel informed, involved, and reassured every step of the way. Attention is given not only to clinical needs, but also to the small, meaningful details that help each resident feel truly at home.

As care needs change, support adapts accordingly. Care plans are reviewed regularly - at least
monthly, or sooner if required - so the right level of care is always in place. Whether it involves gentle assistance with daily routines such as dressing and mealtimes, or more specialist 24-hour nursing care, support is delivered with kindness, patience, and understanding.

Families often speak of the comfort that comes from familiarity and trust within the home. Many team members have been part of Peacock Nursing Home for over 20 years, creating strong, lasting relationships with residents and their loved ones.

Seeing familiar, friendly faces each day provides reassurance, not only for residents, but for families too. There is confidence in knowing that loved ones are cared for by people who truly understand them and are dedicated to their wellbeing.

Peacock Nursing Home offers more than high-quality care - it has provided peace of mind, meaningful connection, and a place where residents feel safe, valued, and at home since 1987 .

Having been in the nursing home for the past 13 years as a volunteer, this is testament to the exellent service that this nursing home provides.
The care that residents receive is excellent and staff go above and beyond with the care.
All activities and entertainment within the nursing home is free.
In my opinion, this is one of the main assests that they provide.

Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5
Peacock nursing home was an excellent care home when my mother was first admitted. Over the years it has deteriorated quite significantly. The staffing levels are unsafe most of the time, which leaves them unable to deliver high level care. There have been a lot of hardworking staff leave to work in
other care homes due to unsafe conditions. The floor coverings are unacceptable ( some are trip hazards) despite the hard working domestic staff doing their best to clean and report issues. The food portions and choices were also very good before, but sadly there have been cutbacks there too. The majority of staff left are kind, compassionate and thoughtful towards the people they are paid to look after, however they are burning out and it's very sad to see. The activity coordinator tries her very best to provide entertainment and raise money but there is 70+ residents, and it's a lot of work for 2 part time staff. The staff have no time to assist the residents enjoy the garden.
Reply from Shona Blair, Group Manager at Peacock Nursing HomeThank you for your feedback. We are very concerned to hear about the significant decline you've described, particularly regarding unsafe staffing levels, environmental risks such as flooring, and the overall quality of care.
These issues fall well below the standards we expect, and your comments about staff burnout and residents' wellbeing are taken seriously. We also note your concerns about reduced food quality and limited support for activities and outdoor access.
While we appreciate your recognition of the dedication and compassion shown by many staff, it is clear from your experience that improvements are needed. We are reviewing these matters thoroughly to ensure appropriate action is taken.
We would welcome the opportunity to discuss this further with you directly.

  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 3.625 for Peacock Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (12 Excellents x 5) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 3.625
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.067 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Peacock Nursing Home is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 = 3
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 75 registered maximum number of service users is 15. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 15 = 0.067
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
