Having been in the nursing home for the past 13 years as a volunteer, this is testament to the exellent service that this nursing home provides.
The care that residents receive is excellent and staff go above and beyond with the care.
All activities and entertainment within the nursing home is free.
In my opinion, this is one of the main assests that they provide.

Peacock Nursing Home

Peacock nursing home was an excellent care home when my mother was first admitted. Over the years it has deteriorated quite significantly. The staffing levels are unsafe most of the time, which leaves them unable to deliver high level care. There have been a lot of hardworking staff leave to work in
other care homes due to unsafe conditions. The floor coverings are unacceptable ( some are trip hazards) despite the hard working domestic staff doing their best to clean and report issues. The food portions and choices were also very good before, but sadly there have been cutbacks there too. The majority of staff left are kind, compassionate and thoughtful towards the people they are paid to look after, however they are burning out and it's very sad to see. The activity coordinator tries her very best to provide entertainment and raise money but there is 70+ residents, and it's a lot of work for 2 part time staff. The staff have no time to assist the residents enjoy the garden.
Reply from Shona Blair, Group Manager at Peacock Nursing HomeThank you for your feedback. We are very concerned to hear about the significant decline you've described, particularly regarding unsafe staffing levels, environmental risks such as flooring, and the overall quality of care.
These issues fall well below the standards we expect, and your comments about staff burnout and residents' wellbeing are taken seriously. We also note your concerns about reduced food quality and limited support for activities and outdoor access.
While we appreciate your recognition of the dedication and compassion shown by many staff, it is clear from your experience that improvements are needed. We are reviewing these matters thoroughly to ensure appropriate action is taken.
We would welcome the opportunity to discuss this further with you directly.

Woodlands Nursing Home

My dad spent a year in here before he passed away last month. I can't sing the staff's praises enough. I believe there were major changes a couple of years ago and I can't fault anything now! The staff were outstanding. Very professional and extremely caring. Nothing was too much bother for them. The
atmosphere was always upbeat and happy. There was a lovely vibe to the place as soon as you went through the doors. From receptionists to nursing and care staff, to laundry staff and cleaners, everyone was just so caring and friendly. My dad needed a lot of care but never wanted for anything. If he couldn't get out of bed any day, the staff would sit and read to him. If anyone is considering a care home for a relative, please go and see Woodlands, you won't be disappointed. Thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts.
