My Dad has recently moved in to Newark Care Home and I couldn't be happier with the care he's receiving. Newark is lovely, spotlessly clean and homely. The care and respect my dad receives is amazing, the staff are so lovely, welcoming and kind and caring to my dad and to myself and other family. It
feels like a family there. It has given my dad some independence back and the chance to socialise that he badly needed. It's also allowed me to become a daughter again instead of just his carer and that I'll always be grateful for. I'd recommend Newark to anyone looking for a forever home for their loved one.

We have traveled from Wales (me,my wife and daughter) to visit a relative in this wonderful care facility. The staff we have come across have been professional positive and above all friendly to residents and us as visitors alike. We have visited twice a day for 5 days and have received a warm welcome
and it is reassuring that our auntie is receiving excellent care many thanks.

Newark Care cared for my mum for the last few months of her life. The staff were forever helpful and considerate and during the pandemic adhering to rules but creating a home family environment and became family to my mum when we were not able to physically get in there to see her. My mum, being a local
lady, we feel could converse with the cheery staff and made her time there most comfortable. The staff there must be under extreme pressure in these times, and I will be forever grateful for their kindness to my mum and to us the family on the outside.

As I do not have food in the home I can't say much about it, but my husband says that it is very good. Visting the home in the afternoon I am always given tea or coffee and cake.
The home is very good to everyone and is as near to home as possible. All the staff are called by their first names.

As my mum's dementia gets worse, she is now significantly more reliant on all the staff in the facility, but I find that she is still treated with the dignity, compassion and kindness that I would always wish for her. All staff, including management and carers engage with her, making her days so comfortable
and happy as they can. Staff are interactive and supportive of my mum and keep myself informed of any issues that may arise. I am grateful for their care, help and attention to my mum's well being.

Dear RP, thank you for your kind words. Your mum is very much part of the Newark family and we do our best to look after her and make sure she is at ease and enjoying life at the home wherever possible. It means a lot to us that you have peace of mind as well.

I got a call to say mum was being taken to hospital late one night. The carer from Newark went with mum and did a great job in looking after her even though I was at the hospital too, she did a good job, very professional.

I find the staff very approachable to talk to about things. I know my mother is safe and protected by staff in the care home. The staff know my mother's likes and dislikes and respect these. The staff treat my mother with the utmost dignity and respect. The staff keep me updated with all aspects of
Mum's ongoing care.

As my mother-in-law's vascular dementia progresses, it became impossible for her to remain in her own home. Newark Care home has provided her with the level of care she requires in a safe and well-maintained environment. From the management and staff at every level, she has been treated with kindness
and respect, doing their utmost to maintain her dignity. They have also been a great support to the family. I am grateful for all they have done and continue to do and would highly recommend Neward to others.

This has been my first experience of a nursing home so I was very unsure of what to expect. After looking around at some nursing homes, I decided on Newark Port Glasgow. My mum has COPD and Dementia and it has been hard looking after her. On the advice from her psychiatrist, we chose Newark care home
and she has settled in great. It is clean and is also fun. It has been a while since I have seen Mum laugh and she is smiling and laughing everyday. The staff and management team are second to none and the whole place is immaculate with beautiful gardens. I am so happy with the whole place and feel so relieved when I leave her as I know she is safe and well cared for.

Since my father became a resident he has been treated very well by staff and management. Some of the staff go above and beyond what is their role and become part of your extended family. I feel the room decoration could do with improvement as many families have to do this at their own expense.

Great home, residents really well cared for. Lovely devoted staff. Great coordinator with residents. Great boss excellence in cleanliness, at all times. Could not have picked a better home. Keep it up, you are all fab. My dad loves it here his new home. I really miss my old dad the quiet man I adored,
but through his illness, I am so glad he's happy in his new home and the excellent care he receives and I can go and see him every day. Sometimes I cry, then he makes me laugh so much, thanks to everyone who cares for my dad. God bless.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.849)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.849) out of 10 for Newark Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.757 for Newark Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (53 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 70 Ratings = 4.757
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.092 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Newark Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 61 registered maximum number of service users is 12.2. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.2 = 0.492
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
