When visiting Westacres you really are made to feel like part of a big happy family that includes residents, staff & visitors

I would highly recommend Westacres to anyone considering care for a loved one.

A care home is a challenging environment for families as well as residents. That said, my family and I have found the team at Westacres to be very impressive. It's not necessarily been an easy adjustment, but Stuart and colleagues have been supportive throughout, and it is difficult to imagine that Dad would receive better care from a more caring, conscientious team anywhere else. Plenty of thought goes into keeping residents active and engaged, and although Westacres is formally no longer a Jewish care home, the team are also very accommodating and supportive of Jewish residents and the community, with a kosher kitchen, Jewish ethos (if that makes sense), and regular, well-attended shul services.

I visit a friend regularly now and the care that is given is second to none. The food is extremely good (I have tasted it myself) and the individual care that is given to each resident to ensure they receive the best care possible makes the resident feel valued and cherished. The home has a daily programme of activities - always thinking of new ideas to entertain the residents and their families. From the manament to housekeeping everyone works as a team. One of the most important thing is that the staff always remember that it is the resident's home and that they are there to see to all their needs.

My own mother was a resident some 15 years ago and the care has always been special.

I am very grateful to all the staff for the care and kindness and support they provide for my mum. It is clear that the staff work hard and genuinely care about the residents and I really appreciate everything they do. It is lovely to see the improvements that have been made to the home. The changes have made a positive difference and the environment feels more welcoming and pleasant.

I have recommended westacres to other people because i would not have my gran staying anywhere else, it's perfect and very well run!

Both my mother and father were residents at the home each between 2 and 3 years in residence. During this time I got to know the staff very well and what struck me was the genuine care and concern they showed towards each resident. Kindness and patience were evident everywhere. I toured several homes in the Newton Mearns area, many of which had all the bells and whistles, but none had the feeling of family and warmth that Westacres offered. The staff provided individualized care tailored to the needs of each resident and came up with creative approaches to put a smile on my dad's face during a difficult time in his life. There were daily activities and lots of encouragement to join in. The social aspect really helped my mum's wellbeing and the support of the staff and her friends at the home really helped her cope when my dad passed away. Knowing they were cared for so well in the home helped put my mind at rest as I live out of the country.

I spent a considerable amount of time at the home during many of my visits from abroad. My father and mother-in-law were both residents at Westacres for several years.

My lasting impression is of the warmth, compassion, and empathy shown by all members of staff. An example was when my father-in-law passed in the care home, the staff went to great lengths to not only look after my mother-in-law but also other family members. We witnessed countless acts of kindness including a young carer late at night, pulling out his guitar and soothing a distressed resident through music.

When my mother-in-law moved in, the social support available enhanced her quality of life despite her worsening condition. She loved to join in musical events and was known for her dancing. She got involved in everything from baking to art to gardening.

Moving into a care home is not something anyone wishes for but we couldn't have asked for better care or a more homely, supportive environment than Westacres.

Caring and attentive staff that are always on hand. My wife has severe dementia but I feel that my wife is in good hands and is being looked after well in a peaceful environment

All staff do everything in their power to ensure that residents are completely cared for, challenged and live as active a life as they are able. Many staff even use their own spare time to enhance the environment for residents. It is like residents are living with family.
