Mum has been a resident here for over 2 years and I cannot praise the staff highly enough.
The carers are very friendly and compassionate and the Manager and nursing staff are always available to speak to you. Telephone updates are always given of any care issues and the whole atmosphere of the home
is very professional and friendly including the laundry staff and chefs.
Highly recommend this home.

My mum has been a resident for just over 2 months. Dementia is such a terrible disease, the staff at Nightingale are fabulous with her and understand and care for her individual needs. I really could not be happier at the level of care and telephone updates I receive. Great place, great staff.

My mother has been in the home for a couple of months now. I have found her care to be very good. The staff are excellent with her and know how to get around her moods.
The room provided is spacious and comfortable. Exterior doors are secure so we have no concerns about her wandering.

The care home went over and above with my mother-in-law for her 80th birthday. They baked her a cake and sang Happy Birthday. We really appreciate the effort. They also gave us a separate room so all the family could be together.
Thank you.

They allow too low staffing levels here in my opinion. It's not the carers' fault. Management even admitted they were understaffed in a recent phone call. You never know when someone will come and help with food, when they will do personal care, etc. Invoices are always on time, so why not medication?
I have raised these concerns in meetings with management in the past and it's got worse. It's just not somewhere I would recommend for residents who need a consistent routine. This care home was in special measures in the past, I hope for the residents' sake it doesn't get that bad again.

My Mum has been in residence in Nightingale House since January 2024, she arrived there following a 3-month stay in hospital after falling ill. From the first week of her arrival, we noticed a big improvement, the manager met with us and we discussed my Mums needs, she had arrived very much underweight
and with a bad wound on her back, in a short space of time she gained weight and the wound started to heal. Now 7 months later Mum is fully recovered and is enjoying life in Nightingale house. The staff from top to bottom are all clearly dedicated and do 'care' for her in every way. When we visit we are always greeted by smiling faces who make us feel welcome and I hope they know how much they are appreciated. I had dreaded having to place Mum in a nursing home but I was wrong, she is happy and cared for and we have the peace of mind knowing that thanks to all the hard work and compassion of the staff.
I would not hesitate to recommend Nightingale House to anyone.

My mum has been a resident here for approximately 3 months now. It has been such a relief for us all that the staff and everyone associated with Nightingale House have been so welcoming and caring with Mum. They really have made a tough time much better as we all know of the extremely kind and welcoming
environment she is now a part of. Nightingale House have done everything possible in making my Mum settle in as best as possible and even the change of colour in Mum's bedroom makes her feel more relaxed and at home. Little details like these are wonderful and I cannot thank the staff enough for what they have done for and with Mum. We have already noticed a drastic difference in Mum since being here and we can tell that the activities and the social aspect of Nightingale House really is doing her good! Thank you to all the staff who go above and beyond for Mum every day, I cannot thank you enough!

From the moment we walked into the home we instantly knew it was the place for Mum after viewing another home. From day one all the staff have simply been amazing with both Mum and the family. It's not what you expect a care home to be like, no smell, spotless, looks like a grand house and nothing is
too much trouble. One carer in particular has stood out to us and the connection between him and Mum is beautiful. All the staff from the manager down and the managing director are fabulous and nothing is too much trouble. When we visit we are provided with drinks and snacks and always asked if we would like to stay for a meal. Mum has been here just over a month and is very settled, joining activities and as a family we are extremely happy with Mum's care. I would highly recommend this home to anyone who is looking for a family member. Thank you again to every single member of staff, you are valued and appreciated, 5 stars are not enough on this review.

My dad came to Nightingale House after suffering an acute stroke. The care he received was exemplary, the friendly, capable staff helped in any way possible. After a few weeks, my dad passed away in the home and this was dealt with respectfully and with dignity. The care home is very well run and managed
and I would highly recommend their services to anyone considering a nursing home in the area.

My mother-in-law was a resident for almost 6 years. She was well loved and cared for and most importantly respected and treated with dignity. The refurbishment throughout the entire home is of light and calming decor. A beautiful large garden space which we used frequently throughout covid 19 which
allowed us to see our relatives. Before covid, there was lots of entertainment and visits out to cafes, pubs and shows which my mother-in-law loved.

Nightingale House Care Home is an example of how a nursing home should be run and is a credit to the manager and her team. My mother has been at Nightingale since 2020 and I can say she receives the highest standard of care in this nursing home. I have full confidence in the team; the environment is
relaxed and in control and every staff member is caring and attentive to all the residents. The home is recently refurbished and immaculately clean and not the usual vibe of so many care homes today. It is comfortable and welcoming and the elderly patients are content and seem relaxed and happy to be there.
My mum has gained weight from being very thin two years ago, I believe this is directly related to the excellent food in the home and the standard of care that she receives.
I have complete confidence that my mum is being well cared for in this last stage of her life, surrounded by professional care staff who really care about their patients.
Sincere thanks to the manager and team!

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.283)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.283) out of 10 for Nightingale House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.553 for Nightingale House is calculated as follows: ( (85 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (8 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 103 Ratings = 4.553
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.73 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Nightingale House is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 43 registered maximum number of service users is 8.6. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.6 = 0.93
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
